Chapter 1614: Holy Illumination Ancient Sect

Chapter 1614: Holy Illumination Ancient Sect

Lin Xun gazed at Zhu Yingkong for a while before nodding. “Good.”

Zhu Yingkong shot up and stood in the air.

He seemed to have turned into another person. With a sharp, cold gaze and exploding qi, his previous disheartened posture had vanished. It was as if he had completely let go of all the burden in his heart.

A gleam of surprise flashed in Lin Xun’s eyes. He could tell that Zhu Yingkong’s state of mind had undergone a transformation, and it made him look like a new person.

This was a true supreme figure!

Any ordinary cultivator would have crumbled after going through all the setbacks that Zhu Yingkong had previously experienced.

But under such heavy blows, his state of mind had actually been tempered and advanced, which was undoubtedly extraordinary.

Zhu Yingkong calmly said, “I’ve always been invincible among the younger generation of the Absolute Yin Ancient Domain. None of my peers have ever been able to make me take them seriously. Even in the Nine Domains Battlefield, only the likes of Kun Shaoyu and Jian Qingchen have my attention…

“Now, I completely understand that one’s opponents are no other people, but oneself.

“After I’ve broken free from the delusion of the mind and examined my true heart, all that fame becomes unwarranted and no longer matters to me!”

Hewas neither happy nor sad.

Lin Xun floated up to face him. “I can only say that you’ve realized this all too late.”

In the city behind them, the endless noises of fighting shook the sky as a gory scene unfolded.

Under the unstoppable attack of Shaohao’s group, those Absolute Yin cultivators were utterly powerless. Scared out of their wits, they were fleeing in all directions.

But this could no longer raise a ripple in Zhu Yingkong’s emotions. He looked Lin Xun in the eyes and said, “It’s not too late. If in the morning I gain knowledge of the correct path in life, I can die at sunset without regrets.”

After finishing what he wanted to say, his momentum climbed, and he waved his sleeve. With a clang, a black and white sword emerged in front of him.

At that instant, his aura was sharp to the extreme!

“Go!”

Following his command, the sword emitted an impassioned chant that resounded through the nine heavens above. Night and day rotated and transmuted into yin and yang sword qi, which then whistled out.

One sword divided into two extremes: black and white represented profound mysteries of the dao!

The sword had the power to split mountains and rivers, and the grandeur to divide the boundary between the clear and the turbid.

Faced with it, Lin Xun remained still on the spot and flicked out his fingers.

Swish!

A Taixuan sword qi swept out. With a bang, it cleaved the sky of black and white and knocked the sword flying.

Zhu Yingkong staggered. He took a deep breath. Then, he began to glow, and behind him appeared the illusion of a sky-blotting Torch Dragon. Its eyes that were as big as lakes reflected the countless worlds beyond the sky.

“Doh!” chanted Zhu Yingkong as he stepped forward. Placing his hands together, he made a sword summoning gesture and abruptly stabbed forth.

Boom!

The black and white sword that had just been knocked back produced an explosive noise. It harmonized with the power of the Torch Dragon’s illusion and shot out.

The strike was simple, but its sharpness was unstoppable!

Lin Xun’s eyes flashed imperceptibly. From this beautifully executed sword strike, he saw that Zhu Yingkong had also reached the threshold of finding his own art.

Regretfully, it was still not enough against him!

“Rise!”

In a series of clatters, numerous Taixuan sword qi streamed out. They crisscrossed and interpreted a grand and tight sword formation.

Then, suddenly, an earth-shattering sound of collision rang out. The clouds in the sky shattered, the void became chaotic, and the towering city walls began to collapse like a landslide.

“Pfff!”

Zhu Yingkong convulsed and coughed out a mouthful of blood. His eyes flickered and burst with a hair-raising light.

He could perceive that Lin Xun’s power had climbed by a huge chunk again compared to back in the Flying Immortal Battle Realm!

“You can’t win. Tell me about Baqi, and I will give you a dignified death.” Lin Xun stood with his hands behind his back, looking elegant and otherworldly with a straight posture and fluttering clothes.

“Again!” shouted Zhu Yingkong.

His long hair then started to dance wildly, and there was a deep blaze in his eyes. As he emitted a bright glow, the air around cracked and crumbled under the pressure of his aura.

This time, he charged forth with his sword like a burning light.

Lin Xun’s gaze stiffened. He’s burning away at his life force!

Zhu Yingkong became one with his sword and poured every bit of his power into this strike. The region darkened under the destructive aura it contained.

Without having to think twice, Lin Xun used his finger as a sword and thrusted out.

Swish!

A sword qi shot out. Its unrivaled momentum shocked demons and gods, allowing no escape!

At the moment when the two swords clashed, heaven and earth was like a canvas that suddenly crumpled. Turbulent sword qi swept through the ten directions. In its wake, the earth cracked and mountains collapsed.

Half of the huge City of Protection was turned into ruins!

“Pfff!”

Zhu Yingkong was sent flying viciously like a kite with a broken string, spewing blood from his mouth and nose. There was a bloody hole through his chest.

Meanwhile, Lin Xun only swayed a little, his clothes fluttering.

As Zhu Yingkong steadied himself, he coughed violently. Then, he sighed with a complicated expression, “How fortunate the Ancient Wasteland Domain is to have you, Lin Xun! And how tragic for the other eight domains that you exist!”

His hair was disheveled. He was drenched in blood. His face was so pale that it was almost transparent. But his back was as straight as a spear.

Lin Xun’s eyes were chilling, showing neither happiness nor sorrow, much less compassion.

He had agreed to a fair fight with the other party not out of recognition and appreciation, but to get information on Baqi.

Zhu Yingkong might be an extraordinary supreme character, but he was not worthy of Lin Xun’s attention and respect.

“If they be not of our kin, then they cannot be trusted.” This saying absolutely applied when it came to the Conflict of the Nine Domains.

Zhu Yingkong’s eyes glazed over. In a trance, he softly said, “A very long time ago, I was told by my clan seniors that the Ancient Wasteland Domain was initially the hegemon of the nine domains. It was like an overlord that the other eight domains could only bow down and look up to.

“I never believed it at all because…the Ancient Wasteland Domain was really too weak! Just like an ant under your feet, would you care about its existence?”

Saying this, his gaze regained focus and landed on Lin Xun. “Even now, the Ancient Wasteland Domain is still too weak. If you weren’t here, Lin Xun, then the Ancient Wasteland Camp would definitely lose!”

These words were calm. He was just stating a fact rather than a vent of anger.

And he was right. Even if the Ancient Wasteland Camp won triumphantly this time, in Zhu Yingkong’s eyes, its domain was still far inferior to the other eight!

Lin Xun’s expression was unperturbed. “I only need information on Baqi.”

Zhu Yingkong’s mouth twitched, and he revealed a look of self-deprecation. “Fair enough. The victor becomes king, and the loser becomes sinner. Since I’ve lost…”

He proceeded to say that Baqi was one of the founding members of the Holy Illumination Ancient Sect in the Absolute Yin Ancient Domain. He was a quasi-Emperor who had always been fighting on the border battlefield.

After finishing telling what he knew about Baqi, Zhu Yingkong’s eyes glowed with an eerie light. “With your strength, you can easily kill Baqi after you enter the quasi-Emperor stage, but I’m not sure if you will be able to withstand wrath of the Holy Illumination Ancient Sect.”

“Oh?” Lin Xun raised his brow.

Zhu Yingkong smiled. “I knew you wouldn’t believe it, but you will understand in the future how terrifying of a force this sect is.”

After saying that, he looked up at the sky with a despondent expression.

A long time later, his gaze redirected to Lin Xun. There wasn’t a shred of emotion on his face. “To be able to die at your hands, Lin Xun, isn’t bad at all…”

His voice became lower toward the end until it fizzled out.

He was still standing upright in the void. His spine was still straight, but all signs of life had been completely extinguished.

Looking at this, Lin Xun thought a little before waving his hand.

Boom!

The ground cracked open into an unfathomably deep pit.

“As an enemy, you had some backbone to you. Since I said I would give you a dignified death, I shall bury you here today. May you rest in peace.”

While he spoke, an invisible force surged out from him and brought Zhu Yingkong’s body into that large pit.

Afterwards, he filled the pit and built a simple mound. Then, a gravestone was placed in front of it, inscribed with ‘Here lies Zhu Yingkong.’

At some point, Toady had come to Lin Xun and asked with a puzzled face, “Big Brother, why raise a grave and a monument for the enemy?”

“That’s the difference between us and their eight domains,” replied Lin Xun casually. “And I have promised to give him a dignified death.”

He then looked into the distance.

The war inside the City of Protection was nearing its end. The city was ridden with marks of wreckage and destruction, slowly becoming a blood-soaked ruin.

Before long, A’lu, Shaohao, Ruowu, and the others returned one after another, each of them glowing with a satisfied expression.

The battle was over.

Except for very few who had been early to escape, the rest of the huge city was massacred!

“It feels good! So refreshing! That’s what a great warrior is supposed to do when he rides the battlefields!” shouted A’lu.

“A thousand years of glory only comes after a great deal of killing. We have completely uprooted the Absolute Yin Camp. It has no more possibility of resurgence.” Shaohao smiled, looking as though he could finally hold his head up high with pride.

While the group was discussing among themselves, Lin Xun flew up and sat cross-legged in the sky. His posture was solemn, and infinite light was blossoming around him.

He was like a Buddha descending the world!

A burst of majestic Zen sound that emanated compassion came out from Lin Xun’s mouth and resounded through the heavens and earth.

Pure lotus flowers coalesced in the air and then drifted down.

Derived from pure Buddha power, each lotus was as crystalline as glass. Just like underworld lamps of guidance, they showed the dead souls their way home.

This was a dharma art recorded in the Great Treasury Silent Scripture, which held the marvelous ability of transcending dead souls.

A confused cultivator asked, “What is Brother Lin doing?”

Toady inhaled deeply and answered with respect, “Big Brother once said that when he trampled the enemies’ cities, he would bring back all the remains of our predecessors and bury them so they could rest in peace!”

The crowd’s hearts were shaken. Gazing at the solemn figure sitting among the clouds, they felt moved.

The world fell silent. Only grand Buddhist chants echoed as countless crystalline lotus flowers floated around the ruinous city.

On this day, Lin Xun led a group of experts from the Ancient Wasteland Camp to break into the Absolute Yin Camp’s City of Protection, slaughtered tens of thousands of enemies, and triumphantly trampled its territory!

After leaving the Absolute Yin Territory, they didn’t return to the Ancient Wasteland Camp, but instead headed straight toward the adjacent territory.

To where the Blood Demon Camp was!
