The Prodigies War

Chapter 1613: Defeat is Certain

Chapter 1613: Defeat is Certain

The city was intact, and so was its grand protective array, but the enemy had appeared on the wall out of nowhere like a ghost!

The unimaginable scene gave Zhu Yingkong’s group goosebumps.

Even the Ancient Wasteland Domain group gawked in shock. How does that work? How on earth did Xia Zhi do it?

Only Lin Xun understood what had happened. Xia Zhi’s strike was absolutely terrifying as it had shaken the entire array. However, all that had been but a front to conceal her true intention: an opportunity for her to sneak into the city!

But even Lin Xun hadn’t been able to see what mysterious method she had performed to appear inside so sneakily.

He pondered, “I’m not the only one making successive cultivation breakthroughs during these years. Unimaginable things must have happened to Xia Zhi as well, seeing that her battle prowess has climbed to a whole new level…”

Even with his current insight, he couldn’t measure the depth of Xia Zhi’s strength, which was incredible in itself.

To everyone’s surprise, Xia Zhi paid no attention to Zhu Yingkong’s group after she appeared on the wall. With a whoosh, her figure flashed as she teleported deeper into the city.

The high-ranking experts around were stunned.

“This isn’t good, she wants to sabotage the array’s foundation!” shrieked Zhu Yingkong whose face had suddenly lost color. “Go stop her, quick!”

In a panic, his people jumped into action.

If the foundation of the grand array was destroyed, then this City of Protection would be as good as over!

“Surround that woman, stop her!”

“Attack!”

“No matter what, do not let her near the array’s base!”

Their roars rumbled in the sky, throwing the countless Absolute Yin cultivators in the city into an uproar and restlessness.

But to their despair, all the efforts made to stop Xia Zhi proved futile!

She was like a flash of darkness whose speed wasn’t the only astonishing thing about it. Wherever she passed, all those who approached her died on the spot, no matter how high their cultivation was, or how many they were in numbers!

If one were to watch from the sky, they would see a scarlet path abruptly extending through the city.

Xia Zhi, shrouded in eternal night, was like a knife of peerless sharpness as she set off a storm of blood in her wake.

Miserable screams and angry roars began to resound and stirred up the atmosphere in the city.

Upon the sight of bloodshed, the cultivators who had participated in the invasion of the Ancient Wasteland Territory’s city felt terrified and a strong sense of déjà vu.

Several days ago this mysterious woman had appeared all alone, trampling on the Nine Layer Restrictive Saint Array and utterly routing the army of the eight domains!

Facing her, supreme Saints were like weeds to be easily plucked. She was simply an invincible existence that should only belong in the legends.

Now, she had appeared once again in the City of Protection, but this time, it was the Absolute Yin Camp’s City of Protection.

And she had started a massacre.

Staring at the chaotic, bloody scene that was unfolding from the city wall, Zhu Yingkong had frozen stiff as though he had fallen into an ice cave.

Previously, he had already learned that Xia Zhi was a mysterious character with incomparable battle power who was even more terrifying than Lin Xun.

Still, he wasn’t afraid at all, thinking he still had the city’s Saint array for protection. But now, who would have thought that her terror exceeded even his highest expectations?

The enormous array was useless against her, and the huge City of Protection let her roam around like a no man’s land!

“How can this be… How can this be happening…” Zhu Yingkong’s eyes glazed over as the flames of war raged across the city and the number of casualties kept climbing dramatically.

At this moment, he suddenly realized that without the grand array to rely on, he couldn’t even muster the tiniest bit of courage to confront this mysterious woman!

Outside the city.

Even Lin Xun couldn’t help but be startled by the endless gusts of miserable screams as he hadn’t expected that Xia Zhi alone really had the ability to break the deadlock!

Toady, A’lu, Shaohao, and the rest of the group were also awed as if they were watching a deity.

“Invincible among the same cultivation stage!”

This was Lin Xun’s conclusion on Xia Zhi’s strength. Moreover, he reckoned that she wielded other mysterious arts that allowed her to ignore the defensive power of the grand array.

“Get ready, everyone. When Miss Xia Zhi destroys that array, we will kill our way in and wipe out this city!” shouted Toady with exploding killing intent.

The others also seethed with murderous auras.

In this Nine Domains Battlefield was the blood and tears, shame and hatred of countless Ancient Wasteland Domain predecessors. Looking at that lofty and majestic City of Protection in the distance, one could not measure how much blood had been poured and how many bones had been piled up to build it.

This humiliation of blood must be avenged once and for all!

Boom!

It didn’t take long for the grand array to start fluctuating violently. The thirty-six bipolar moons hanging in the sky were all trembling.

“That woman is too terrifying, Young Master. We can’t stop her at all. Anyone who’s gotten close to her is dead!”

“Young Master, what should we do?! That woman is damaging the array base! Without the array, we…we will be finished!”

“Young Master…”

Chaotic voices rang in Zhu Yingkong’s ears like thousands of nasty flies buzzing around. He became incredibly agitated, and a fire was ignited within him.

“Enough!” roared Zhu Yingkong as he suddenly raised his head, revealing a vicious face where his eyes had turned bloodshot.

The crowd jumped in fright and fell silent.

Zhu Yingkong took several sharp, deep breaths and barely kept the anxiety and uneasiness within him under control.

However, he didn’t know what to say at that moment. An indescribable sense of loss surfaced on his bleak face.

He was the leader of the Absolute Yin Camp, the Great Prince of the Torch Dragon Lineage, a star in the sky so bright that it obscured the rest. This Nine Domains Battlefield was supposed to be a stage where he’d show off his skills and lead the trend of the world.

But at the moment, he suddenly realized that this place was only a graveyard waiting to bury everything he ever had!

An unprecedented frustration washed through Zhu Yingkong’s heart. He stood on the city wall and looked around in a trance.

The seven domains’ army had failed.

The eight domains’ army had failed.

The elite forces of the eight domains had teamed up but also failed!

Could it be that the tide would really be turned in this domain conflict, allowing the Ancient Wasteland Camp to win?

At this thought, Lin Xun’s image appeared in Zhu Yingkong’s mind. Almost at the same time, his gaze also landed on the real person in the distance.

His eyes instantly went wide with rage. His expression was hideous as all the anger, uneasiness, and frustration that had been built up within him exploded at this moment.

“Lin Xun! It’s all because of you! You scumbag!!”

Zhu Yingkong’s eyes bulged horribly. His roar rumbled through the land, permeated with bone-deep hatred and fury that disrupted the atmosphere.

Lin Xun remained indifferent. He casually said, “You guys see that? That is how the leader of a foreign camp acts when he loses everything he relies on and is pushed into a desperate situation. No different from a shrewish fishwife screeching in the middle of the street.”

Toady’s group couldn’t help but laugh.

Zhu Yingkong obviously couldn’t take it anymore and had gone crazy.

Boom!

The City of Protection suddenly shook. The grand array trembled, and the restrictive fluctuations it was producing were decreasing at an alarming rate. It was like a poked ball leaking air.

“Brother, please make a decision now!” said Zhu Yingxue anxiously.

“Decision?” Zhu Yingkong felt a shudder to his core. Turning around, he saw that blood had formed a river in the city, and every corner was a tragic scene covered in dust and smoke.

“Young Master, this city…is about to fall!” said someone mournfully.

This City of Protection, which had survived two domain conflicts and stood tall for countless years, was going to be destroyed in their hands.

This caused their hearts to drip with blood and grief.

“Forget it. Pass my order: withdraw and run. Trying to survive is the best we can do now…” Zhu Yingkong’s strength seemed to be drained out of his body as he waved his hand dismally.

“Brother, what about you?” Zhu Yingxue was alarmed. She felt something was wrong.

Zhu Yingkong’s expression was bleak. “After this city collapses, which it will, what face do I have to drag out this ignoble existence? I will, foreseeably, become a sinner condemned by the history of the Absolute Yin Ancient Domain…

“Even if I return alive, I will be crucified and forsaken by the world – an infamy that I can afford to carry, but our Torch Dragon Clan cannot.”

His face then became gentle as he patted Zhu Yingxue’s shoulder and said, “Leave with them, my little sister. This shame is mine to bear alone!”

“No, I’m staying with you!” sobbed Zhu Yingxue, her eyes red.

“Go.” Zhu Yingkong waved his hand.

A supreme Saint stepped out and took Zhu Yingxue away. No matter how hard she struggled, it was futile.

“Yingxue, don’t think about avenging me. Lin Xun is not someone you can mess with. Please don’t do anything foolish,” Zhu Yingkong calmly admonished as he watched his sister leave with a group of experts.

Only after they had gone far did he withdraw his gaze. His expression had become determined.

Boom!

Right at this moment, the sky shook with a deafening noise as the thirty-six moons in the sky started exploding one by one into a magnificent fireworks show.

The array had been broken!

The huge City of Protection was completely exposed.

Zhu Yingkong stood alone on the city wall. His clothes fluttered, his hair flew, and he looked calm as though he was oblivious to the destruction of the grand array.

Behind him were panicking Absolute Yin cultivators running everywhere like frightened dogs, painting a scene of complete chaos.

None of them had expected that the protective array would be broken so quickly, and it made them despair. In order to survive, they had no choice but to flee!

Right in the midst of this pandemonium, Lin Xun and his group arrived out of thin air with unconcealed killing intent.

“I’ll handle Zhu Yingkong and leave the rest of the city to you all,” he said, his eyes gleaming coldly.

“Let’s go!”

Without delay, Toady, A’lu, Shaohao, Ruowu, Xiao Cangtian, and the rest split up and bolted toward different areas of the Absolute Yin Territory’s City of Protection.

Meanwhile, Lin Xun swiftly flew to the city wall with eyes locked onto Zhu Yingkong. “It seems that you intend to disregard your life to fight me? Or perhaps, you want to sacrifice yourself to drag me down with you?”

Zhu Yingkong woodenly said, “Didn’t you want to ask me about Baqi? I demand for a duel, and if I lose, I will tell you everything you want to know!”
