The Devil's Sweetheart

Kyle was in all happiness as she keyed in the password of her condo. Throwing the mobile on the bedside table, she collapsed on the bed and smiled. ''Landon is my boyfriend now!'' She still cannot accept the fact that she is in a relationship now. Not many genuine friends she has, to share her happiness. Her family might be wealthy, but the label illegitimate daughter has caused people to distance themselves from her. Grabbing the mobile, Kyle texted Leena. [To: Leena: I accepted]

Kyle eagerly waited for Leena's reply, and after an hour, she received a response from her. [To: Kyle: Finally, you have progressed. Have you two shared a kiss]

''Kiss?'' Kyle muttered, touching her lips. She had watched it in movies and imagined how her first kiss would turn out with Devin. Kyle can't deny that she lived in a delusional state, admitting Devin was hers. ''If Leena hears my inner thoughts, she would come for my head.''

[To: Leena: We haven't kissed]

[To: Kyle: What are you waiting for]

Kyle's cheeks flushed hotly as she imagined her kiss with Landon.

[To: Leena: I...I will try when I meet him next time]

Leena, on the other hand, resting on Devin's lap, was lazily relaxing chatting with Kyle while Devin fed her fruits. Her mood dampened as she saw a person calling her continuously. She sild the reject button every time the phone ringed.

 ''When are we shifting?'' Questioned Leena. Unlike the condo in Greenwyn village, Devin's house is a luxurious villa with outstanding architecture. She can never forget that place because their first steamy kiss happened in there.

''Perhaps next week, but I will let you decide,'' Devin said and looked at the mobile when his turn started. Why is Kurt calling at an odd hour? Devin picked it up, letting the thought aside. ''What?''

''Can you pass on the mobile to your wife? She is not picking up.'' Kurt added. He called her around ten times, and each time she rejected his call, crushing his ego.

''Take a hint if she is not picking up.'' 

''Please give it to her, Vincy,'' Kurt added with a frustrating sigh. '' ''I have something important to ask which you cannot understand.''

Devin cast a look at Leena and asked. ''Leena, did you reject Kurt's call?''

''I am not in a mood to talk with him.'' Replied Leena. He would either ask her to hack into Elysian account or castigate Elysian. He treats her like a mortal enemy as if he has committed a serious crime.

''He has something important to ask.'' Devin handed her the mobile. He wondered what secret Kurt has that he is not ready to share with him.

Exhaling a deep sigh, Leena picked the mobile from Devin's hands, and in a lazy tone, she spoke up. ''Whaaaaat?''

''What do girls like in general?''

Without replying, Leena instantly peeked at the contact name, wondering if Kurt or some other person she was talking to. The man who runs away at the sight of a woman wants to know the likes of a girl? Something fishy. ''Why do you want to know about them all of a sudden?''

''It's a part of the mission I am working. I can't disclose it.'' Kurt added. ''Can you now tell me?''

''Get a pen and paper. The list will be huge.'' Leena remarked and put on the loudspeaker to let Devin also listen.

''Just tell me one or two.'' Kurt said. If not for the mission, he wouldn't have approached Leena either.

An evil grin cast upon Leena's face as she started. ''Girls like only two things.''

''What is it?'' Kurt's immediate voice came. If it is two, he can easily manage.

''Number one: Bananas,'' Leena stated. ''Girls like bananas the most because eating a banana a day increases your energy, brainpower, and happiness.''

''Okay.'' Kurt made a mental note in his mind to buy them in large quantity. Anyway, bananas are cheap ''So, the second one?''

''Apart from bananas, girls go dandy over clothes.'' Leena continued. ''I have enough clothes. I don't need to go shopping, said no woman ever. Are you getting what I am trying to say?''

''I understand.'' Kurt thoughtfully nodded his head. ''Anything else apart from the two?''

Devin: '' ''

''I guess no,'' Leena said.

''Okay. Thanks for the information. If I have any doubts, I will call you again. Please pick the call.''

Is this kind of an exam to get doubts? Leena wondered. ''My pleasure. I will try.'' Leena ended the call with a goodbye and turned to Devin with a happy grin. ''Was I cool?''

''You should have also told him bananas and clothes are only one girls choice of interset,'' Devin said, a smile on his face.

''I am liked by every girl in the country. So, obviously, my fans prefer what I like.'' Leena yawned, snuggling closer to Devin. ''I am so sleepy, Devin.''

''Then close your eyes and sleep.''

''As if I don't know.'' She retorted before shutting her eyes. Devin pulled the comforter up to her chin when she went into a deep slumber. ''Love you.'' He whispered and kissed her forehead before slipping inside the sheets.

The following day, Kyle woke up to her boyfriend's call. Last night Landon called her to talk with him, and for the first time, she slept late in the night. Kyle was in a deep slumber that she picked up at the third call. 

''Hey, babe! Did I tire you for the whole night?'' Landon's sweet voice poured into her ears like honey.

''Ah, No. I am fine.'' Kyle replied with a smile. ''When did you get up?''

''The moment I got up, I called you to hear my girlfriend's beautiful voice.'' Kyle's face grew hot to his praises. At the moment, she couldn't formulate words to reply to him. ''W_hen will you start to the office?'' She asked a question out of the blue and then cursed at herself. What stupid question was that, Kyle?

''I have to meet an important person. So, I will not be going to the office today.'' Landon said.

''Who is it?'' Kyle questioned eagerly.

''There are some things which I like to keep a secret to myself.'' Landon drew a straight line for her.

''I_I am sorry if I had offended you.'' Kyle forced her words from the mouth. Once Leena told, Devin doesn't keep any secret from her. With the same confidence, Kyle asked to exercise her rights as a girlfriend. Kyle doesn't know how exactly relationships work since this is her first time dating. I have to ask Leena when I meet her next time. ''Sorry for upsetting you.'' Kyle apologized.

''That's fine, babe. Go and get ready for your shift. I will call you when I get free.'' With a little coaxing from Landon, Kyle's face lit up. 

''Okay. Have a safe trip.'' Kyle bid goodbye and ended the call to get ready for the hospital.

At the hospital, Kyle was delighted as she talked with her colleagues. It might be because she got someone to share her secrets or some other reason, she didnot care. She was happy, and that's all that mattered. Putting aside her thoughts, Kyle entered into the trauma to get started with surgery. By the time she finished, it had turned evening. While she was going into her cabin dragging her tired body, a nurse called her. 

''Doctor Kyle, you have a visitor, and he is waiting for you for an hour.''

''What is his name?''

''He didnot tell the name.'' The nurse added. ''He informed me that you know him well. He is sitting on the lawn.''

''It must be Landon.'' Kyle's face brightened hearing her words.. ''Did he come back to see me?'' Her face brightened like a Sunday, and she dashed out of the hospital in a blink.
