The Devil's Sweetheart

Leena looked at Walter with an awkward silence. What do I do now? Should I greet him? It is the first time Leena is seeing him after she rejected his confession. Also, she hadn't told much about her suitors to Devin since the list will go on and on if she starts. 

''Hi, Leena. How are you?'' Walter greeted with a smile. It's been almost four years, he has talked with her face to face. Walter was feeling kind of nervous with the sudden unexpected encounter, but he is happy at the same time. He could feel Devin's brooding eyes boring into him, but Walter didnot care. It's not his mistake if Devin imagines him to be a stalker. Isn't Devin over-possessive? Can't I have a crush on her even? Ignoring Devin's icy stares, Walter spoke up again. '''How is your health now?''

''Hello, Doctor Walter. I am doing well.'' Leena replied with a pressing smile when Devin's hands dug deep into her waist. He is turning into a possessive brat. Indeed, she can't say it applies only to Devin. She is one step ahead of Devin in this matter.

''What! You already know each other?'' Stell exclaimed in delight with wonder. ''How do you know Leena, Walt?'' Stella probed.

''Well, let's say we know each other,'' Walter said, not intended to talk about Leena's accident. It was a strict order from the hospital head to keep her accident secret to the outer world. Leena silently thanked him for keeping it a secret. ''What's your relationship with Doctor Walter, Stella?''

''Ah! He is my cousin.'' Stell added. ''I got to know the food is delicious. So, I dragged him here.''

''Yes, yes, Mrs. Foodie.'' Leena said.

''You are no less, Leena.'' Stella retorted with a giggle.

''I second that,'' Leena said, suddenly remembered she hasn't yet introduced the two men. ''Dr. Walter, he is my husband_''

''I know.'' Walter looked at Devin with a mischievous glint. ''We know each other very well.'' Pausing for a while, Walter added. ''Right, Mr.Wang?''

''Do you know him already?'' Leena curiously looked at Devin.

''When you got injured in Seattle, Micheal felt sensitivity in your right leg. I visited the hospital you got admitted, and I happen to know Doctor Walter.'' Devin's explanation was so smooth even Walter bought his theory

Leena squeezed Devin's hand with a smile. Leena's heart welled up with happiness watching how cautious Devin moves when it comes to her.

''Alright. It's time to leave_''

''It's been a long time I spoke with you, Leena.'' Stella cut her off. ''Let's chit-chat for a while.''

Before Leena denied her request, Devin spoke up. ''There is a garden in the hotel. You can go and talk over there.''

''What about your work? Don't you have a meeting?'' Leena asked.

''I can manage that,'' Devin said. ''Come back in an hour. I will be waiting here.''

''Okay.'' Leena nodded her head and went along with Stella.

The moment Leena was out of sight, Devin's gaze shifted to Walter, his face turned serious.

 ''I came along with my cousin, and it's a pure coincidence that I met Leena today,'' Walter explained to clear the misunderstanding. He can't believe the great doctor is labeled as a stalker in Wang Devin's eyes.

''You better do that if you want to live.''

Ignoring his remarks, Walter asked. ''Why did you assume me as a stalker? Is there anyone following around Leena?''

''It's none of your business,'' Devin responded, opening the car door.

''I know you are still skeptical about me, but trust me, I meant no harm to her. Even I got a hunch that someone follows Leena. When I attended a fashion show, I saw someone following her from a distance when Leena went along with her friends to a shopping complex. I thought he was a fan. So I ignored on that day.''

''Have you seen him?'' Devin demanded. If he can get a breakthrough, he could easily reach the stalker.

''No chance. He is fully covered.'' Walter added. "Anyway, I informed in case you need it. If you want my help, you can contact me. Since it's related to Leena, I will help you.'' Walter said before leaving the place.

''I don't need your help.''' Devin clenched his fists at his provocation. Furiously, he opened the car door and stepped inside to wait for Leena.

It was evening, Devin picked Leena by himself since he had only one meeting, which he could take from home.

''Doctor Walter was looking at you with an exceptional gaze.'' Embracing her into a hug from behind, he whispered.

''So?''

''Are you throwing the question at me?'' Devin whispered, nipping her earlobe. ''What's his deal.''

''He confessed, I rejected—big deal,'' Leena said as a matter of fact. The definition of love was only shown to her by Devin.

''Why was I exception of all people?'' Leena has lots of suitors. Ethan chased her for four years, but she didnot reciprocate his feelings.

Leena turned around and, gazing into his eyes, she said. ''You are the reason behind my happiness.'' 

'That's all? I want to hear more.''

''It's because y.o.u. you are exceptional'' Leena has lots of reasons to give. Her smile lits up when Devin is near; her heart skips a beat, or two, or three. Her soul got connected with his. But all connected to Devin.

''You are turning into a_.''

Just then, a phone ring echoed, halting his thoughts. When his gaze shifted to the contact name, he knew it is private. ''I will be right back, sweetheart.

''Okay.'' When Devin was out of Leena's sight, Leena pondered over her thoughts. ''What's with Francy and Devin? They would always speak for hours like love birds.''

Tired of going into the kitchen to cook dinner, Leena collapsed on the bed. After more than an hour of speaking, Devin was back in the room. His glances were darting rather than focusing on anything particular.

''What took you so long? Did you had another fight with my Francy?'' Leena asked, propping her elbows on the bed.

''We got the address of the man who saved you..'' Closing his eyes tight shut, Devin replied. He should be happy right now, but why does he feel envious of the man?
