Chapter 193: | 193 | Final Battle Part 6
Inside the central south of the island of Terra, the ground forces of the United Navy have left the shores, proceeding northwest. They travelled deeper into enemy territory with the assistance of dozens of military trucks and armored vehicles driving through the central plains.
Their destination was northwestern shores where the capital city of Terra resided.
"Oh, why the silence?" Within one of the military trucks, Laplace crossed her legs with a smirk plastered on her face. In front of her were the entourage of the Liberation Front, Hermona and her two pets.
Realizing the silence they were giving the dragoness of the United Navy, Hermona quickly got out of her trance and opened her supple lips. "Eh-ehm... We didn't expect that an esteemed figure such as yourself would be transported with us."
Her words were straightforward and were none other than truth. It really wasn't within her expectation for the Dragon of Liberation to sit along with them. Especially after she had just deflected the trap of the Magus Tower and conquered the southern shores with the landing force.
Hermona was expecting her to be in the frontlines. After all, she was the dragoness, the guardian of the United Navy. Her capabilities would be well-utilized in the front instead of the rear, so it made the most sense.
"I see... Well, I'm merely curious about the status of the Liberation Front. And from the looks of it, your group is quite a rowdy and energetic bunch." Laplace remarked with a smile, staring at Tora and Leonidas sitting beside the young girl of the Liberation Front.
They avoided her gaze like puppies who had been forced to stand in front of their mother. Though, their reasons were already something Hermona was aware of. Tribe Chiefs like them could easily sense the dominion that the dragoness emanated.
It was forcing them to bow down, as though they were in the presence of a ruler, a god.
"At any rate, I'd like to ask you a question." She said with a smile, straightening the backs of everyone near her. Hermona gulped before respectfully asking. "What question may this be, Lady Laplace?"
"Hmm... I've got a good one." The edges of her lips rose even further, giving the leader of the Liberation Front a bad feeling. Hermona had heard rumors about the personality of the Dragon of Liberation. Mainly, it was about her teasing activities, which she primarily utilized in her inner circle.
The only ones that could reign her in were the fleet admiral and the vice admiral of the United Navy. Though, they were even greater rumors about something amiss going on between the three. Maybe a love triangle, or a polygamic relationship.
"What do you think of Abraham?" Laplace's question was far from what Hermona had expected. Her line of thoughts was quickly interrupted as she unconsciously followed. "Abraham?" The only one with such a name was the fleet admiral of the United Navy.
"You mean the Fleet Admiral?" Hermona tilted her head, wanting the confirmation of Laplace. The dragoness firmly nodded, curious about the opinions of the Liberation Front leader. She had never heard much about what others outside of the United Navy thought about her lover.
So, she didn't hesitate to ask when it came up inside her mind.
On the other hand, the young lady of the Liberation Front struggled to answer the question of the dragoness. Her opinion of the fleet admiral wasn't as clear as her thoughts about the dragoness. In her eyes, he was a handsome who she'd like to be friends with.
After all, their worldviews were much more closer than she had thought. She wanted to confide more with him regarding how to handle things, which might help her mind look at her path in the future in a clearer lens.
With this in mind, Hermona sometimes opened her mouth, but quickly closes them. It took some time for her to answer, and it disappointed the dragoness. After all, it was but three words, which escaped Hermona's supple lips. "A great man."
"A great man?" Laplace raised an eyebrow, though immediately shook her head. "He's the best man. Have you ever seen someone like him in your life? A man like him?" The dragoness began spouting nonsense, which made Hermona even more confused.
"I mean... You aren't wrong about someone like the fleet admiral being one of a kind. But why are you confiding such things to me, Lady Laplace? I can't understand." Hermona tilted her head and calmly asked. After all, she wondered what the dragoness saw from her.
When Laplace heard her words, the dragoness's eyes narrowed as she slightly flicked the young lady's forehead. "You should have confidence, Hermona. No need to look at yourself like an insect." Unexpectedly, her words were quickly countered by the young lady.
"But I am an insect when compared to you, Lady Laplace. I can't pretend to be bigger than who I am. That would be foolish." Hermona was straightforward about her opinion, which made the dragoness lightly chuckle. "I guess your right. However, there's no need to be so stiff when talking to me."
"Besides, there are times when you must act bigger than who you are. Even if you know you aren't, you must push onward. After all, there are those who trust you with their lives." Laplace continued, giving Hermona an advice.
Hermona thought about it carefully, understanding the intricacies of her words. She nodded in understanding, taking the dragoness's advice to heart. But before the two of them could continue their conversation, another figure intruded, standing in front of the dragoness.
It was none other than her first idol, the silver wolf who had guided her in the creation of the Liberation Front.
First Lieutenant Mercedes.
Mercedes stood in front of the dragoness with a calm expression on her face. She was in beastfolk form, and emerged to report something vital to the lieutenant colonel of the Special Response Unit. She lightly nodded at Hermona, and looked directly in the golden eyes of the dragon.
"Lady Laplace, a massive army awaits us in the next hill of the central plains. It is a fairly sizeable army consisting of over 50,000 colonial guards along with hundreds of Magus. You must return to the front." Her words resounded, making Hermona and her entourage astounded.
An army of 50,000 soldiers was something she hadn't considered when fighting against the Colonial Dominion of Terra. Though, noticing the calm of both Laplace and Mercedes. She didn't let her reaction show, waiting to hear more from the two.
"It seems that an all-out war is ahead of us. How bloody such a beautiful field becomes once the battle starts." Laplace muttered, her a tinge of radiance gleamed from her golden irises. But it quickly disappeared when a smile emerged on her face.
"It looks like our humble discussion will have to end here, Hermona. Later on, I'd like to hear more about your opinions regarding him. After all, it's interesting to see how others see him not from the lenses of your mind." The dragoness disappeared on the spot after concluding her thoughts.
Her final words echoed in the interior of the military truck.
Mercedes glanced back at Hermona and gave a light nod before also taking her leave. Silence then consumed the military truck after the two left, leaving those inside it in their own thoughts.
...
Meanwhile, in the very front of the formation were several MBTs. They were the armored shield and sword against what was to come. Their only job was to plow a path for the supporting vehicles from behind to transport their cargo onward.
As they got nearer and nearer to the hill, a following order from the top forced them to halt their movements. The Abram Tanks maintained their formation, pointing their turrets towards the small hill in front of the,
*Enemy units detected past the hill in your heading. Prepare for contact.* Such an order was issued through the window, which was why the tank operators maintained their vigilance towards the hill before them.
Laplace soon stood in front of the United Army formation and gazed at the tiny hill with a tinge of coldness. She could feel the massive army from behind, marching towards them. Most of all, she noticed three troublesome individuals at the forefront of it all.
"To think that a Sovereign has sent their own personal hunting dogs. How intriguing." She remembered her time with the apostles of the Sovereigns. They were much more stronger than the usual archbishop, and much harder to kill. source-at-NovelFire
But that was from the past. Her current self was much more stronger.
The edges of her lips rose as she grinned at the adversaries before her. Their war horns bellowed out as their march caused the earth to slightly tremble. But their foolish actions to bring fear made her excited instead. It gave her the desire to trample them six-feet underground.
"It's time to make a Sovereign angry." Laplace quickly disappeared from her spot, intending to cause trouble inside the enemy lines before them and the United Army begin their battle.
On the other hand, though... The apostles of Terra Firma gazed at the mechanical formation of the United Army. Their eyes had a tinge of shock since the technological advancement of the United Navy was much greater than they had imagined. But it wasn't something that magicraft couldn't handle.
"It seems that it's time to fight." One of them muttered, turning his gaze behind them where one figure stood. Her silver-hair swayed back and forth as her golden eyes shone with shimmering radiance. A smirk remained on her face, her arrogance unrivalled.
