Chapter 699: If he loves me, he’ll live well

“Liao Dongxing, what are you doing?” Qin Mu chased after him, his face pale.

In the darkness, the sound of bullets being loaded echoed. Liao Dongxing glared at Qin Mu and then at the others who wanted to rush up. He tore open Wen Ran’s jacket, revealing the timed bomb tied around her waist, and shouted at the approaching Qin Mu: “Don’t come any closer!”

Qin Mu stopped in his tracks.

His eyes locked on the bomb tied around Wen Ran’s waist. His brain was momentarily blank, completely failing to think rationally.

“You dared to call the police. Qin Mu, Mo Xiuchen, you forced me to do this. If we have to die, let’s die together now.”

Liao Dongxing had gone mad!

Qin Mu’s handsome face turned from white to pale, and from pale to white. His hand quickly reached for his waist. The next second, the muzzle of his gun aimed at Liao Dongxing: “Let her go, or I’ll blow your head off.”

His voice was more brutal than ever, emanating a bloodthirsty aura.

Gu Yan, Luo Haofeng, and Jiang Liu’s faces drastically changed. But with Wen Ran in Liao Dongxing’s hands, on the edge of a cliff and with a bomb on her, none of them dared to make a move.

“Liao Dongxing, let Wen Ran go. We will give you the evidence you want.” Gu Yan’s voice lost its usual calm. Even when he saw Fu Jingyi earlier, he wasn’t as furious as he was now.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

It was more than just fury. Gu Yan’s voice trembled. He was frightened.

Liao Dongxing looked at ‘Mo Xiuchen’ standing next to Gu Yan and suddenly let out a cold laugh, “Mo Xiuchen, you love Wen Ran very much, don’t you? If you jump off this cliff, I’ll let Wen Ran go.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he jerked off the cloth gagging Wen Ran’s mouth. Wen Ran cried out despite the pain in her mouth: “Qin Mu, everyone, leave quickly. Don’t worry about me.”

Every second that passed and every sound from her body made her fear intensify. If she was going to die, she didn’t want to drag them down with her.

“Haha, Wen Ran, you’re telling these men to abandon you. They won’t agree. You have fifty seconds left. If all of you jump off the cliff, I promise Wen Ran will be fine.”

“Don’t believe him.”

Wen Ran shook her head. Her eyes looked at the closest person to her, Qin Mu, and then at Gu Yan a few meters away. She pressed her lips together and said softly, “Dad, promise me, delete all memories of me from Mo Xiuchen’s brain.”

“Wen Ran, don’t be afraid, I will save you.”

As Gu Yan rushed forward, Liao Dongxing’s men immediately stood by his side. Qin Mu blocked Gu Yan’s way and said solemnly: “Uncle Gu.”

Wen Ran held back her tears and a smile appeared on her face, barely visible in the dim evening light. It added a touch of ethereal beauty. “Tell Mo Xiuchen that I love him. If he loves me too, he should live a good life for my sake.”

“Wen Ran, we won’t deliver your message for you. If you have anything to say to Mo Xiuchen, say it yourself.” Qin Mu suddenly spoke up, sharply interrupting Wen Ran’s words. At the same time, he moved forward: “Liao Dongxing, you want all of us to jump, right? Then, I’ll jump!”

“Qin Mu, don’t!”

Wen Ran was startled by the determination in Qin Mu’s eyes. As he rushed towards the edge of the cliff, she violently pushed away Liao Dongxing, who was holding her, and plunged off the cliff herself.

“Wen Ran!”

Behind her, a voice filled with grief, shock, and despair echoed through the darkness. The next moment, Qin Mu’s figure likewise disappeared from everyone’s sight…

“Ah Mu!”

Mo Xiuchen slept for two nights and a day. When he woke up, it was the morning of the third day.

A blonde nurse was by his bed when he woke up. Seeing him awake, she greeted him with a smile.

Mo Xiuchen’s gaze moved from the nurse’s face and he turned his head to look for his mobile phone on the bedside table. But there was only a cup and a box of tissues in his field of vision, his mobile phone was nowhere to be seen.

“Have you seen my mobile phone?”

Unable to find his mobile phone and feeling uneasy, Mo Xiuchen asked the nurse at his bedside.

“Mr. Mo, Doctor Gu has your phone. I’ll go and get him.”

As soon as the nurse finished speaking, she dashed out of the ward before Mo Xiuchen could reply. A few minutes later, Gu Kai walked in, and on seeing the awake Mo Xiuchen, a trace of emotion flashed in his eyes. He then smiled faintly and said, “Xiuchen, you woke up early.”

Mo Xiuchen sharply looked at Gu Kai’s slightly red eyes and retorted, “Ah Kai, what’s wrong with you?”

“There’s nothing wrong with me, I’m fine. I just discussed your situation with Joseph and Professor Brown. Xiuchen, they both agree that you should have the surgery as soon as possible.”

“Give me my phone.”

Mo Xiuchen watched Gu Kai’s calm, handsome face. If he wasn’t mistaken, the redness in Gu Kai’s eyes was due to sorrow.

Sorrow?

There were very few people or things that could cause Gu Kai to feel sorrowful.

He suddenly remembered waking up the day before, drinking a cup of water, and then feeling sleepy again just a few minutes later. After that, he’d slept until now.

He turned to look at the window, where the weather outside was clear and sunny. But he hadn’t slept this long for a long time.

Gu Kai’s eyes flickered, and he continued, “Xiuchen, if you have no objection, we will bring forward your surgery to today. You haven’t eaten anything today, and you went to bed early yesterday. In a while, we will do a few more check-ups.”

“Ah Kai, give me my phone.”

Mo Xiuchen suddenly interrupted Gu Kai, his eyebrows tinged with a hint of cold anger. He stared at him, his presence emitting an intimidating chill.

Gu Kai paused and frowned, “Why are you in such a hurry for your phone? Do you want to call Wen Ran? She called you last night when you were asleep. I answered.”

At Gu Kai’s evasive words, Mo Xiuchen’s heart sank.

He tightly pursed his thin lips, his face cold, his eyes piercingly sharp as he looked at Gu Kai as if trying to see through his thoughts.

Gu Kai couldn’t bear Mo Xiuchen’s sharp gaze. He dropped his gaze and coughed into his hand to avoid Mo Xiuchen’s attention.

There was a moment of silence in the room.

Time seemed to stop at that moment. The room was so silent that even the sound of breathing could be heard.

After a while, Mo Xiuchen broke the silence with his low and hoarse voice. There was a hint of panic in his voice, unwilling to believe what he was asking. It pierced Gu Kai’s heart: “Ah Kai, did something happen to Wen Ran?”

Gu Kai’s tall figure stiffened imperceptibly. Unless you looked very closely, you would hardly notice it. There was a calm look in his dark eyes, but his expression was indifferent, revealing no sadness.

However, Mo Xiuchen’s face changed as he noticed Gu Kai’s slight stiffening. He pressed his lips tightly together and jumped out of bed. He became dizzy from standing up too hastily and his tall body swayed heavily.

Gu Kai, a few steps away, was startled and shouted, ‘Xiuchen’, hurrying forward to support him.

Mo Xiuchen turned his arm to hold Gu Kai’s, looking at him with an eager and uneasy gaze. “Ah Kai, give me my phone. I need to call Wen Ran.”
