CH.469 Raging Battle
CH.469 Raging Battle
That night started like many before it, with me alone in the System parlor, Aulis there waiting for me.
He then gave me the info on an up and coming fissure, which sadly was happening up north, in one of the areas that are now controlled by the United States. Hopefully that country won’t cause any difficulties.
After those news, Aulis had me wait for a bit, as he was getting someone. He returned soon enough with a multi-armed bear-folk man. At least I think he is a bear, considering the claws at the end of each of his … paws?
He was honestly quite the intimidating sight, but he is a System agent, so he won’t harm me. … actually, I don’t think he even could if he wanted.
“Hello kid. The name’s Coby. Used to belong to the Bear Supplanter Coby. He never named me, so I took his name when I returned to the System.” He introduced himself. I don’t actually remember anyone called ‘Bear Supplanter Coby’.
“Can tell you have some questions, but that isn’t why I’m here.” He continued. “I’m here because I’m interested in that skill you are cooking up. My master would have loved it, so when they asked someone to be your contact for working on the skill, I decided to take that role.”
“... why does the System seem more and more like a company the more I learn about it?”
“Can’t answer that. My master never worked for anyone, unless he wanted to. He just took what he wanted, though most of the time it was just stealing interesting fights from others.” Coby said. “He had a skill for that, you know. Could sense fights before they ever happen, and he would rush there and be there to steal the fights. Made him real strong. But he ended up biting something a bit too much when the Empire Kingdom war happened.”
“... I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. He wasn’t the greatest man. But have to say, kind of ironic you’d be the one I work with considering that the person who ended my master was the last user of both Space and Time Magic.”
“... wait? Space and Time? He died at the hands of the Great Sage…” I quickly checked Tahlia for the memory where the name was dropped. “… Second, I think it was?” He was mentioned once in CH.360.
“Yeap. Good memory you have.”
“I have good skills.”
“You about to have one more. See, here’s the deal. Your skill ain’t ready yet. But we think with a bit more work we can at least make a prototype version of it. That’s why I want you to let me into your Factory. That way I can work with you to make it something that can work. And I mean really work and not just work in your mind.”
“... you can go to the Factory?”
“As long as you allow it. We can’t force our way in.”
“... we likely could, but we’ve never tried.” Aulis added. “We did consider it before first contact, but we instead used your skill as a base to make this space. We figured it would be better for everyone.”
“... okay. Well, I don’t really have anything against it. Just follow the general rules of not causing mayhem and don’t try to force your way to restricted areas.” I told them. “It goes for you as well, Aulis. Feel free to visit whenever you want. I know Fantasia will love the company. Just realize that I can’t be there 24/7.”
“I … I could tell her some stories.” Aulis said.
The next morning I told my girls about the news. And since we were going to ‘enemy territory’, I wanted to take just a small strike team with me, instead of a bigger squad.
So it will just be Alice, Lua, Ria, Agunan and I. We are the most powerful team we can form, while still keeping the numbers low.
We scouted the area from the air, and we had a minor problem.
First of all, there was a big city about 20 kilometers away from ground zero. That in itself is no problem. They may hear some sounds if things get too loud, but hopefully nothing more than that.
The problem was a small farming village just 5 kilometers from ground zero. They will definitely hear or see something. That is if we don’t set up a barrier. So the idea was to have a few of my monsters set up different kinds of barriers to keep all the sound and visuals from the eyes of the people and just sneak this fissure.
Getting the appropriate barriers up wasn’t too bad, but they would limit out battle options. We’d have to make sure no attacks reach the barriers, so Alice was on barrier protection duty. Her Erasure Magic could erase any incoming attacks, and she also has Mirror Forces and Magic Cylinders ready to go.
As for our main fighting force, well, I wanted to use some Arcana Force monsters. So after activating Light Barrier, I called out a few monsters.
The first few were just tributes for Arcana Force EX - The Dark Ruler. Yes, I have to tribute three monsters to special summon it, because it is a nomi, or ‘Must be Special Summoned’ monster. After that I called out Arcana Force XXI - The World and three Arcana Force IV - The Emperors. All of the monsters had their ‘Heads’ effect thanks to Light Barrier, so all of my Arcana Force monsters gained 500 attack thanks to the three Emperors.
I then summoned out Exodia, using the Arc-V style light blade part of my duel disk, before I got Errelitea out of Storage and used it to slice open the fissure pre-sign.
The monster that came out of the fissure was a huge worm looking thing with massive teeth. It was a world eater worm, and SS-rank monster that likes to eat anything and everything.
Luckily between my arguable OP monsters, Agunan’s fire breath, and a Restraining Sword Barrage followed by some slashes from Errelitea from me, we were able to take down the worm.
Sadly, it doesn’t have many useful materials outside of the monster core and the fangs. But whatever. I don’t do this just for materials. We took down a fissure, so I get a new set, .
Back on HomeBase, I’m opening packs. New set means opening packs. Those are the rules.
I didn’t check what cards Raging Battle has, but the cover card is Power Tool Dragon, and I wouldn’t mind getting one.
So let’s not wait any longer, ten packs to start, let’s see what this set has to offer.
Okay. So Iron Core Immediate Disposal is just a shitty Foolish Burial.
Fake Feather is trap reproduction, so I don’t need it.
The G.B. in G.B. Hunter apparently stands for Gladiator Beast, which does check out as she prevents cards from returning to the deck. She’d actually go alright with the Neos fusions, as she’d prevent them from going back to the extra deck. It will also work with the Majestic Dragons, when I eventually get them. So yeah. Actually a really decent tech card.
Morphtronic Repair Unit is just a shitty Monster Reborn.
Koa'ki Meiru Doom is decent. The problem is that what is treated as an effect is inconsistent between the cards, so even though Doom negates the effects of LIGHT and DARK monsters that activate during the Main Phase, that might not prevent magic. It might only prevent some types of magic and so on. I’ll test it out in the Factory at some point.
Urgent Synthesis is fine. Nothing amazing, but it isn’t bad either.
Junk Box is another sucky Monster Reborn replacement.
Evil Thorn is cool, because I can just have as many of them as I want in my deck. So I can summon one, tribute it, summon two more, tribute them and so on. Not that 300 burn damage is all that impressive, but it isn’t bad either. I could probably also make some actual plant traps with Evil Thorn, but … Actually, I might do it. I’ll at least consider it.
And Emperor Sem looks kind of cool, all dog fiend hybridy, but his effect isn’t all that good.
Next pack.
Spined Gillman is nice. Generic, or in this case not so specific but still broad enough, attack boosters are always cool.
Bone Temple Block is a gimmick card, and not even a good one.
Morphtronic Videon is not bad. Gaining an extra 800 attack for each equip spell equipped to it. And it is also a video camera, so reverse engineering one of those is now a possibility. Not that I ever even reverse engineered Cameran, but maybe some day.
Level Retuner is cool. It should work like Level Down!?, allowing me to lower the level of someone.
Gadget Arms is fine, but not needed.
And Blizzard the Far North is a Blackwing tuner, so I’ll gladly take it.
Next pack.
Reckoned Power is surprisingly good. Sure I can just Heavy Storm or Feather Duster instead, but it isn’t bad.
Morphtronic Scopen is also good. It is a tuner, and it can act as a LV.4 tuner while in defense position.
Double Tool C&D is a nice equip spell, just a shame it is limited to Morphtronics and Power Tool Dragon.
Crimson Fire is nice. Does require that I control Red Dragon Archfiend, but it is still nice. Returning any effect damage doubled is great.
Black Whirlwind is naturally God tier. It gets me more Blackwing monsters.
Morphtronic Bind is also nice. Binding up all high level people is good.
And Calming Magic sucks. Why would I want to prevent summonings?
Next pack.
Rose Tentacles is interesting. It can attack multiple times, so that is cool. It also has decent stats and inflicts burn damage every time it destroys a monster.
Wicked Rebirth is another sucky Call of the Haunted/Monster Reborn replacement.
Emissary from Pandemonium has decent stats, but at most I’ll use it to threaten someone.
Vanguard of the Dragon is cool and I might use him as a practice partner.
And Morphtronic Remoten makes me new Morphtronics, so it is cool.
Next pack.
Overdoom Line is too limited and lasts for too little time.
Hedge Guard is okay, as it makes my monster battle indestructible for a short while.
And Rockstone Warrior is … it could be better. Summoning two tokens is cool, as is taking no battle damage. But what isn’t cool is the limitation on summoning the tokens. Why do I have to attack with it to get the tokens?
Next pack.
Lava Dragon sounds way better than it actually is. It doesn’t have amazing stats, and the effect it has is okay at best.
Mirror of Oaths is stupidly situational, and basically useless.
Supremacy Berry is a situational healing card, but I’ll just stick to Gift Card.
Automatic Laser again sounds better than it actually is. Sure it does the job, but I’d prefer if a card called Automatic Laser actually did something cooler.
Hardened Armed Dragon though. Yeah. It is nice. The effect it gives after being tributed is great.
And Koa'ki Meiru Ice is okay.
Next pack.
Attack of the Cornered Rat, huh. Yeah. It isn’t awful, but it isn’t great either. Just so-so.
Mind Trust is absolute trash.
Tuner Capture isn’t even something I can use, because no one else will ever use Tuner monsters. Unless it works on spirits, but even if that is the case, I don’t want to capture spirits.
Thorn of Malice is a decent attack boost, but the monster equipped by it cannot destroy opposing monsters. So … it is actually useful. For like taming and stuff. Because it will never really finish off the opponent. Kind of like False Swipe in the Pokemon games.
And Dark Verger is just … I don’t need it.
Next pack.
Oh god I got an Ojama Country. Now I have to make an Ojama Country room in the Factory or the Ojamas will never stop bothering me about it.
Minoan Centaur has a cool effect, but what isn’t cool is the fact that it is a LV.6 monster. If it was LV.4, it would actually be great. But it isn’t, so it is bad. In the TCG. For me, it is just a monster with mediocre attack and a decent at best effect.
Next pack.
Proof of Powerlessness is decent. But Raigeki is still better.
Natural Tune is good to have. It helps if I lack attribute specific tuners.
Mermaid Archer is a new Mermaid monster. Haven’t gotten one of those in a while. And it is decent.
And Swallow Flip is super situational, but not technically a bad card.
Last pack. I haven’t gotten a single Synchro yet, so one of those would be cool, but I’m not holding out hope.
Well, I didn’t get a Synchro, but I did get another super rare.
But Trap Stun is first. And it is another decent card. Sadly Jinzo is just better in all ways, but that doesn’t make Trap Stun bad.
And Level Warrior can special summon itself, which is good if you play the TCG, but it is useless for me.
But still. Out of the ten packs, I got three super rares and one secret rare. That is amazing.
