CH.439 Force Training Racial Skills

CH.439 Force Training Racial Skills

“Brian!” I heard a call from the door to my office, just before the office door slammed open as if a Wind spell had been launched at it. … probably because one had been launched at it. “It is time for swim class!” Cailie called out, as she swam into the room.

“... Why do you use that excuse? It is just time for you to ogle at my mer-folk tail.”

“Your fault! You don’t usually use that race, so I have to make sure I get my time with your mer-folk form. Now, let’s go!”

“Yeah, yeah.” I surrendered, as I got off of my chair, levitated myself with Telekinesis and transformed into a mer-folk.

“... you really should use this form more.” Cailie said. “... your tail is lovely.”

“Really? I think it is kind of boring compared to yours.”

Cailie blushed at my compliment, before answering. “Well, I’m evolved, you aren’t. After you evolve, your tail will get more patterns and will be less random.”

“Yeah. Sadly I still haven’t been able to evolve any of my races, so I don’t know how to do that.”

“Just master your racial skills or something. That will probably do something.”

“... yeah. Maybe I should start powerleveling myself again. Especially my skills.”

“Which means you are going to spend more time swimming with me.” Cailie declared.

“... This is a ploy to get me out of the office, right?”

“You got it. … You know, your monsters and Laura can manage most of HomeBase. Let them. Focus on yourself more.”

“... yeah. I’ll try.”

“Besides, Lua is also demanding your attention after our trip. You have to keep all three of us entertained, so you don’t have too much time to slack off.”

“... when did you get so assertive?”

“... Mom’s spirit is helping.”

“You do realize that just because you named your System Support after your mother that they aren’t the same.” I pointed out.

“Says the one who named his after his ex. It just felt correct, alright.”

“Yeah. I know what you mean.” I agreed, as I recalled why Laura took on the name Laura.

I guess I’ll quickly mention it here, but yes, Cailie named her System Support after her mother, Naidalie. Naidalie is dead anyway, so no problems with meeting the real Naidalie like there was with Lua’s System Support.

Naidalie’s Factory avatar was quite interesting. It took on the appearance of a draconic mermaid. Basically a mermaid, but the scales on her tail were more like dragon scales and she also had a pair of dragon wings on her back.

Naidalie never actually reached that evolutionary stage, and yes, it is a thing. Melusine, apparently. But yeah. Naidalie died a mermaid, so she did evolve once. But that doesn’t stop the System Support from looking like she wants to.

Also, Naidalie is Fantasia’s new favorite System Support, after Laura. Naidalie is quite playful and likes doing things with Fantasia, especially in the water rooms of the Factory.

After our swim, I decided to really think about how I could optimize getting all of my racial skills. I have a handful of races where I’m missing the racial skills from, so getting those is my first goal.

Now my current races are.

One of Every Race

Normal Races Class Races Special Races

Human ☐ Swordsman ☐ Dragon Hearted ☐
Advanced Human ☑ Guardian ☐ Spiritual Human ☐
Cat-folk ☐ Sorcerer ☐ Spiritual Beast-folk ☐
Mer-folk ☐ Summoner ☐ Spiritual Mer-folk ☐
Dhampir ☐ User of Rare Skills ☑ Spiritual Being ☐
Dhampir Cured ☐

[Change to selected Race]

From the normal races, I have the racial skills for Dhampir and Mer-folk. Humans don’t have racial skills and Cat-folk don’t always have the same racial skill. So just because Eline and Einar had Night Vision as their racial skill doesn’t mean that I will have the same.

I could have something like Tough Claws, Enhanced Reflexes or even a transformation skill that turns me into a cat beast. In theory, because of One of Every Race, I might even have all of the above.

But yeah. The racial skills for Cat-folk generally come in at around five years old. And depending on their environment and family history, they will get different skills.

This is how Unika and Valoa have a different racial skill than their mother.

But anyway. It is kind of impossible to guess which of the Cat-folk racial skills I can get. Tough Claws is the easiest to train, as I just need to scratch something with my cat claws.

Enhanced Reflexes could be trained, and I already train my reflexes whenever I do sword training, so I don’t think that is the one I’ll have.

Night Vision would be largely unnecessary for me, as Mana Vision already lets me kind of see in the dark. It isn’t exactly regular vision, but close enough.

But considering that this is me we are talking about, I’ll absolutely have that transformation skill as my Cat-folk racial skill. It just seems like the most convoluted, and I’m kind of known for changing my race.

But back to my races and what racial skills I don’t have. Next up are the class races.

User of Rare Skills has a racial skill called Jack of All Trades. It isn’t actually that useful, it just helps in switching between different skills and helps in multitasking. And honestly, I’m surprised I don’t already have it, as I’ve been using User of Rare Skills as my ‘main race’ for a while. Maybe if I really focus on multitasking, I can get the final push and I’ll unlock the skill.

Summoner had Advanced Summoning Magic, which I have, so I can ignore it for now.

Sorcerer has Sorcerer’s Determination, which is an inferior version of Lua’s Monarch of Magic. Sure it is a skill I could use, but I don’t really need it.

Guardian comes with the skill the same as the race, Guardian. It is just an upgraded form of Shield Technique, which would be kind of cool to have, it is also somewhat unnecessary. I should focus on something else more.

Swordsman comes with Sword Master, which is something I could use a lot more than Guardian. And I think I’ll also get that one soon. Because while I don’t practice my Sword Technique quite as much as I used to, I still have at least three lessons a week. And naturally, with swords being my primary weapons, I want that skill.

For the special races, I have all the racial skills already, so nothing to worry about there. All of the Spiritual races just come with Spirit Magic, while Dragon Hearted naturally comes with Dragonic Body and Draconic Magic. And since I have all of those, and those races likely cannot evolve, I don’t really need to worry about it.

I mean, Spiritual Being is technically an evolution of Spiritual Human, so technically I already have access to the evolved form of Spiritual Human. And unlocking the evolved forms of Spiritual Beast-folk and Spiritual Mer-folk likely require me to advance the normal races.

… not that I ever got Advanced Spiritual Human, despite having Advanced Human and  Spiritual Human races, so there is a possibility that all Spiritual races evolve into Spiritual Being.

Okay, so I was partially wrong, as I learned after Laura sent an inquiry for information to the System. I was wrong about the Jack of All Trades skill to be specific.

It doesn’t actually help in multitasking, like we assumed, but instead is a skill that assists in switching between many different skills and allows for better mixing of different skills.

The best training method for it was to just keep switching between different skills as quickly as possible.

So Laura and I worked our magic, no not literal magic, but the math magic, and min-maxed a training plan. Sadly a lot of my skills are something I can already use at the same time, so the only skills I could realistically switch between were my Space, Time, Blood, Draconic and Spirit Magics. Which basically means that I’ll just be spamming different magics at nothing for an afternoon and hoping something will happen.

But even with that, there is a problem. I mean, I can use Time Accel or Time Decel in combination with most of my magics, so this isn’t exactly a fool proof plan.

I mean, basically the only thing I can’t do with magics is using two offensive spells at the same time. And that largely comes down to chanting. I don’t have Quick Cast or Instant Cast so I still chant all my spells.

So … Learning to Quick Cast became the first objective. It was actually surprisingly simple. Between the experience I already have with Mana Control and Laura being great at assisting me with it, learning how to ‘encode’ the spells in the mana without a chant really didn’t take as long as I assumed. It took all of that afternoon to learn it and get the Quick Cast skill.

The following day, I did the same but this time with Instant Cast. With Instant Cast, the biggest problem was the release. With Quick Cast, you still have to call out the spells name, which is the release timing, but with Instant Cast, you don’t call out anything, so it doesn’t have a set timing. Instead, you have to time the spells with just Mana Control.

It is more difficult, but I managed that as well, and after two afternoons of practice, I also got the Instant Cast skill.

The third skill, which I didn’t really even train for but still ended up getting, was Mana Flight. Though I guess I’ve been flying with Telekinesis for a long time, so I guess my focused magic training just pushed me over the edge and got me the skill.

With both Quick and Instant Cast now under my belt, I got back to working on Jack of All Trades. I’d basically just use Instant Cast to cast spells of different types at different targets.

I also decided to do all of that while flying with Mana Flight, and also keeping an eye on my spells with Mana Vision.

I tried to add Telekinesis and Dark Chain as well, but that just got a bit too much and my abilities just lacked when it came to using that many skills at the same time.

The big thing about this kind of ‘spam spells at anything’ practice is that it is quite far from what I usually do. Usually, my magic practice is about getting better at controlling my spells and learning more powerful spells, but I have to say, just spamming magic at trash is quite a lot of fun.

It is kind of like getting a belt-fed machine gun and just shooting at … insert random target here. And yes, I have shot a few machine guns. My grandpa bought himself a few before the machine gun ban.

Sadly they were sold when he died, because dad didn’t want to keep them. He isn’t an anti-gun person or anything, it is just … He just doesn’t really like the idea of ‘throwing money at the dirt’. His words, not mine.

And it isn’t like I didn’t get anything from the sale. Because of the price of transferable machine guns, dad was able to pay for my tuition in the German university I studied at. Where I met Laura.

… I should stop thinking about the past. It brings tears to my eyes. Let’s just spam some more spells at nothing to get my mind off of things.

It took two more days of spamming spells for me to get the racial skill I was going for.

And I have to say, it was a nice addition. With it, my spell spam got even faster, and I could even use either Telekinesis or Dark Chain while flying with Mana Flight and tracking my spells with Mana Vision.

Still couldn’t use all four while also spamming spells, but I think I’ll get there with a bit more practice.

But this training extravaganza did prove a point to me. Cailie was right. I can leave most of the management of HomeBase to my monsters. Laura isn’t even needed.

The only thing I really need to do is the final approvals. And maybe some letters to respond to the nobles that send me letters with the letter exchange boxes. But all of that is like an hour of work, compared to the three to four hours I had to do previously.

And more time for myself meant more time I could spend with my lovely fiances. Be it swimming or taking care of the CropFields with Cailie, teaching dhampirs Blood Magic with Lua, or just spamming magic at trash with Alice, it was so much more enjoyable than my usual office work.

But anyway, here is my status after the training I went through the last couple of days. And some level ups to my racial skills.

Spoiler

Sadly I didn’t unlock any more races, but I think I’m close to one or two. Next I’ll try to get my Sword Master skill, I think, as it should be the most useful for me.
