Why Did You Summon Me?

Chapter 348: The Students’ Favorite Activity

Although Baiyi did not want to force anyone into the Void at this point, finding out the identity the current Zephyr of the fairies was worth a shot; no pun intended. Besides, there was a possibility that the suggestion to find out the Zephyr’s identity was made with the hidden intention of getting a chance to interact with the beautiful fairies of the race. Nevertheless, the Voidwalkers were pretty worried about the Caudillo Butterfly bow — the weapon that sent the Lich Walker to the Void.

Since that was the case, what of if it had the ability to send an inhabitant of the Void back to the world?

With that thought planted in his mind, Baiyi got a calendar and flipped through it, and his suspicions were confirmed; the National Day of the Walhart Empire was coming up in mid-April. When Baiyi came to that realization, he decided to inform his students that they would all be going on another excursion, to a realm called Marle.

However, the students were having their first lesson of the day with Joseph, so Baiyi had to wait. When the class was over, Joseph was ready to go back home, but Baiyi held him back. He informed Joseph of the excursion and told him that he would not need to come to work for the duration of the excursion, until further notice.

“Oh! That is a great idea!” Joseph’s face brightened up the instant Baiyi finished speaking. It was possible that the past two months of working for Baiyi and his own institution had taken a toll on Joseph; nevertheless, he was visibly supportive. “Excursions are great — direct and effective learning experiences for students. I would love to take part in this one, but I still have the few students in my institution to get to; furthermore, I would love to plan an excursion for them... but, I guess the funds for such an endeavor would have to be present first...”

With that, he rushed to the door of the mansion, looking busy but not the least bit regretful.

Baiyi entered the classroom that Joseph had just vacated and made an announcement. “Today, I have two pieces of good news. First, you don’t have to worry about homework because you will not be given any today!”

This made the students cheer loudly. Zakum the fox was so excited, it jumped onto a desk and wagged his tail enthusiastically. As the only student with claws, the fox always had trouble writing.

Baiyi decided to add to their excitement with his second piece of news. “Secondly, I know everyone here has been a little exhausted lately, so I’ve decided that we should go on another school trip! It will be a relaxing break in the warm embrace of our tranquil nature; I know this is what you’ve all yearned for! Thus, everyone, pack your bags because we will be going on our trip right this instant! Remember not to bring miniskirts!”

The classroom turned silent, and the students’ smiles vanished instantly. Mia and Tisdale — the students who had gone on all the Fifth Walker’s trips — immediately turned pale, even though their skins were already fair, to begin with.

Baiyi had taken them on three ‘safe and relaxing’ excursions, and so far, they had either had to flee like lottery winners, avoided getting crushed by stampeding calvaries, watch a beautiful realm get plagued by horrifying natural disasters, or have Baiyi himself suddenly disappear on them for a long period of time.

None of the previous excursions had been as safe and relaxing as was announced prior to the trips! Although they had not really gotten hurt over these unfavorable occurrences, no one’s heart ought to be subjected to this many thrills at the same time, right?

Each and every one of the students knew the truth behind Baiyi’s ‘relaxing’ excursions. Even students that had not experienced the first two truly apocalyptic events, such as Nota, knew better.

“Why are you all sitting still? Go on; go get your bags!” Baiyi urged.

Despite their reluctance, the students did not dare to disobey him, so they hurried to ready their bags. The girls silently bade farewell to their fashionable dresses and miniskirts, before donning unfashionable outfits only fit for exploration.

As though they were languid, the students dragged their feet, taking some time to gather around Baiyi with their bags packed. Then, Baiyi began to lay out plans for their trip. He asked the students to form a line, with Mia at Tisdale at the forefront; after that, he began to elucidate. “This time, our destination is a realm called Marle. I believe everyone already knows a thing or two about Marle from their books, right? Marle is a realm created by the combination of two other realms,” Baiyi explained, “Just like these two.” He placed his heads on Mia’s and Tisdale’s heads.

Ruffling Tisdale’s hair, Baiyi said, “This would be Marle. It is a location inhabited by multitudes of diverse species, such as fairies, dwarves, faes that live underground and more — even elder dragons! These dragons are not like Aya, though; they are real elder dragons! In summary, this realm can be regarded as a mixing pot of culture, where a variety of species live together, bringing with them their own customs, traditions, and way of life.”

Then, he ruffled Mia’s hair. “We call this realm ‘Mars’. It is primarily inhabited by humans. This realm is smaller than Marle,” said Baiyi.

“Although these two realms can be considered one and the same, they are still two distinct realms. There has not even been a unified stance in academic consensus. Nevertheless, you’re bound to be in for a very wonderful experience; you will realize this very soon!”

Stoked by his words, the students finally relaxed and began to look forward to the trip. Baiyi continued to ruffle Mia’s hair and Tisdale’s hair, causing both girls to narrow their eyes in comfort like litten kittens being petted.

The fifth walker and his students arrived at the Sorcerers’ Association a while after, and after making the necessary arrangements for teleportation, they stepped into the association’s trans-realm teleporting portal. After jumping through portals for a while, they finally arrived at Mars realm’s Sorcerers’ Association’s Babel towel. When they stepped out from the tower, they found themselves in another realm also dominated by humans — Mars.

“This... scent is familiar. It smells... like home,” Nota said as she raised the brim of her hat, then she stood on her toes and heaved in a deep breathe of fresh air. The anxiety she felt before whittled with every breath she took.

“That is because this is the hometown of the fairies — your hometown,” Baiyi said. Every fairy was borne here. It was later on that they moved to other realms via different means.”

“Is that so?” Nota whispered, turning to face him with a gentle smile. “Thank you, Mentor. I don’t really remember what happened before I was summoned...”

Although Nota’s summoner, an unknown great sage, had long since passed away, she remained at the Doors of Conundrum to learn more, before becoming one of Baiyi’s students.

Nota was not from Isythre, neither was she a local creature. She was summoned by a great sage, who had dabbled in the art of summoning. After a long period of time, which Nota herself was not aware of, she developed human-like cognitive abilities, albeit slowly. Prior to this development, she was only as smart as the average bear, so she was unable to remember much at the time.

‘What else could you have been doing at the time, other than flying around naked and without purpose,’ Baiyi though to himself, but on the outside, he was more serious. ‘You must have lived a carefree life. A beautiful life without stress.’

“But I’m rather fond of the life I have now, though,” Nota replied, with a smile.

‘Off course. You can no longer fly naked, right? Even if I asked you to, right?’
