Chapter 3 Choose Your Profession
"Working in real life is a drag, but these are interesting choices."
Lukas grinned as he eyed the available options for him to choose on the laptop screen as he surfed the web.
"I need to boost my stats and grind, but depending on what Profession I obtain, I get a slight increase to a particular stat which will help work towards my goals."
[Hunter: Work as one of the defenders of Lux City. Increase Strength.]
[Bartender: Serve drinks to various members. Increase Charm.]
[Civil Servant: Perform tasks that improve city lifestyle. Increase Intelligence.]
While Lukas originally played the game to meet the 'Vampire Girlfriends' he desired to date, it was also interesting to see other aspects of the game if he ever got tired of pursuing women.
Or just for a little variety.
It provided a real-life aspect after all.
You couldn't spend twenty-four hours in a day trying to pick up women could you?
"If you spend all your time on women, then they're going to consume your days relentlessly. Gotta find something fun to do while also trying to get them. Hence these three choices."
Now all he needed to do was just pick his first Profession–earn credits and then get them women afterwards.
Of course, he could probably go visit the women right now, they had their favorite spots where they mostly hung around for sure as this was a Sim Date Game–but if Lukas could purchase items to enhance his appearance, wardrobe and other personal aspects?
That would help.
"Good grooming," he said. "Both here and in real life. Nobody wants to be with a loser who can't get his life together after all. But back to the Profession…"
He hovered around the 'Apply for Available Starter Position' and tried to check which one offered him the best amount of credits as well as what might seem like a fun activity.
[Hunter: 125 credits/day]
[Bartender: 95 credits/day]
[Civil Servant: 100 credits/day]
"Well, I can't just choose or focus on one, I have to try them all to see which one is the most enjoyable. Though I can't help but admit that I'm a bit biased to Hunter. What exactly do the Vampires of Lux need defending from anyway?" he asked. "But there we go, sent an application–and huh, summoned already."

The city of Lux was bathed in an eternal night when he walked out, a twilight dome expanded above his head along with beautiful twinkling stars.
A smile curled on Lukas' lips as he admired the view and strolled through the streets to head to his destination.
With the bracer on and giving him directions, he wouldn't get lost… but it also helped that the 'map' for the game wasn't as expansive or open world as others.
"Doesn't have to be that big as long as the characters are good and the gameplay is fun."
After a brisk walk of fifteen minutes, Lukas finally arrived at the end of the city.
Huge and tall walls surrounded the entire city of Lux and acted like some kind of fortress or citadel which protected and shielded the city from the rest of the world.
However, his gaze finally landed on the building that he was looking for.
[Hunter Association]
Its name was located on top of the building. Lukas' gaze focused mostly on the number of individuals with long dark cloaks entering and leaving the glass doors.
Some of them were boarding vehicles and then departing the city.
"Well, isn't that incredibly edgy?" Lukas muttered before he made his way inside of the building.

Most of the time, the animation budget was focused entirely on the Love Targets and the background and side characters were a little less than stellar.
However, in Nightlife?
That wasn't the case.
The receptionist that greeted him proved to leave him in awe when Lukas stepped inside.
Not only was her hourglass figure that of a woman with a thicker and more curvier set, the blouse hugging her chest snugly, there were others that made her a lovely vision.
The receptionist's dark green hair was arranged in a casual bun and soft curls at her side, her red eyes were piercing beneath the frames of her glasses, and it was all topped off with those pink luscious lips.
She was a beauty!
"Good day, you must be Lukas." The woman greeted him as her gaze flickered to the monitor in front of her. "We've received your application and we'd like to begin with initial testing to see if you'd fit the physical and psychological standards of becoming a Hunter."
"...there's a test?" Lukas raised a brow.
"Of course there's always a test." The receptionist stood up and walked out of the counter. She held out her hand. "I am Emerys di Verdant and will be your test facilitator for today. If you could follow me, we'll proceed immediately to the testing room."
