Chapter 277 Protect or Rob? [2]
Back on the outside, as the magic border shattered into a thousand pieces before disintegrating into nothingness, the serpent descended.
*SPLASH
Falling into the water, the serpent created a splash that sent water flying all the way towards the academy island and capital city the entire time.
As a flood of water drenched the buildings of the academy, windows shattered open due to the sheer pressure of the water.
Thankfully, all the students were now inside, so none of them were hit by the barrage of water.
Back in the capital city, Seraphina had called for backup while the serpent was destroying the magic boundary.
As the gigantic splash neared the capital city, dozes of mages, each equipped with a cloak and a wand, stepped forward.
Casting in unison, the tip of all the mages's wands started sparkling a grey as the water got closer and closer.
A moment later, a gigantic shield appeared right in front of the incoming barrage of water.
As the barrage of water collided with the massive shield, the formation of the mages started to falter as many were pushed back.
However, the formation of mages held their shield steady, not being moved by the incredible amount of water.
As the water collided with the shield, it immediately got reflected back, falling back into the giant ocean.
As the last bit of water reflected off the shield and back into the ocean, the formation of mages collapsed.
Every single one of them, being at least B-rank or higher, had used all of the mana on the shield...yet it only barely managed to defend a BYPRODUCT, not even the main attack of an S-rank beast.
Shivering, the mages fell to the ground, energiless.. but happy.
They had just saved countless buildings from collapsing and an equal amount of lives.
Seraphina, stepping forward, raised his hand, but no water droplets came.
It had stopped raining.
Ensuring that the beast was not going to wreak any more havoc, Seraphina slowly neared the ocean before glancing downwards.
And sure enough, the ocean was back to its original dark blue colors instead of being pitch-black.
Even with all her mana, she could only summon the mythical god of the sea for ten seconds at most.
Raising her smartwatch, Seraphina called the medic team before walking forward toward the academy...only to realize she couldn't.
The massive bridge that stretched all the way from the capital city, the island the academy was located on, was... no more.
Gigantic pieces of rubble floated through the ocean below, and besides a few small remnants of the bridge, there was nothing.
The bridge, which had taken years to build and that had been standing for over ten years at this point, was gone...
"Well... I guess you get what you ask for."
Summoning a mythic beast when it was pissed without expecting any destruction would have been stupid.
Unable to cast a flying spell to head over the academy due to her lack of mana, Seraphina sighed while staring at the bridge.
Maybe...she could have done it a different way.
Thankfully, though, she had already called some other mages about the situation in the academy.
Confirming her thought, countless other mages, wearing dark blue cloaks, could be seen flying in the air towards the distant island.
Shaking her head, Seraphina muttered.
"...the royal family isn't going to be happy...because these repairs are NOT coming out of my pocket."
Though Seraphina knew she wouldn't lose her job, she had a feeling that the royal family was going to overwork her for the next few months because of all the destruction.
Smiling, Seraphina stared up at the sky as the dark grey clouds began to disperse, revealing the shining sun.
Before the attack had even happened, Seraphina had cast an area-affecting weakening spell on all non-human creatures, so with Kaneki and Kazuki's assistance, the students would one hundred percent be safe.
Although...Kazuki isn't fully human either, isn't he?

"...wait, will he be weakened by the spell!?"

As Ren began to gather his materials and fill up the hole below him to cover any traces, the cat inside his hoodie suddenly popped down.
Turning around, Ren shook his hoodie for a second before realizing that his cat had fallen asleep.
In full honesty, Ren had expected the principal to allow the djinns in the vault, then entrap them there and take them easily.
However, it seemed like the principal didn't even want the djinns to get a glance inside the vault as she opted to defend it from the outside.
*TAP*
*TAP*
*TAP*
Hearing the sound of footsteps echo from behind the group of djinns, Ren immediately moved further away from the hole that he made.
Placing his head on the roof, Ren attempted to discern the voice of the person above.
Was it a djinn who was simply late to the party?
Or, could it possibly be some reinforcements that the principal had sent?
"Damned prick. 'OH, JUST DO THIS, AND YOU'LL BE DONE. GO ENJOY A NICE MEAL IN THE CAFETERIA!' Yeah, my ass."
Walking right past Ren's hole, Kaneki snorted before entering the underground space, immediately spotting the crowd of djinns and Kazuki, who was hanging from his spear, which was attached to the ice.
Kazuki, staying quiet, simply waved at Kaneki while simultaneously fending off a couple of djinns who were trying to climb up to the roof.
Unsheathing his katana silently, Kazuki slowly approached the back of the group before activating his transportation ability.
Phasing through the bodies of the djinns and many rocks that were in the way, Kaneki looked for the weak spot in the formation.
Or should he say... weak spots?
Since the djinns were so focused on attacking and getting into the vault, their backline was almost completely unprotected.
Well, of course, Kaneki was only one person, so he couldn't exploit it to the fullest, but it would give a break to the main cast and Kazuki, who had been constantly fighting.
