Chapter 173: Go back early

Chapter 173

Employees at the company suddenly noticed that Vice President Chi seemed to be in a very happy mood recently, and he would occasionally take out his phone and laugh at something he was looking at. An assistant saw him circle a big circle for a certain day and draw five stars, indicating that today was very important.

Because of the spell that allowed her to reflect on the past, Chu Yang had recently been reflecting occasionally. She found that apart from some scenes of attending classes or school activities, most of the scenes were actually ones where she was together with Chi Yan.

There was even one time when Chu Yang reflected and saw an exceptionally shy scene. Anyway, it was a dimly lit room with just a small night light left on, and the two of them were about to engage in intimate activities, which made Chu Yang blush for an entire day. After that, she didn't dare reflect again for several days.

Meanwhile, Chi Yan was counting down the days, taking leave a week in advance and taking three days off.

Time flew by quickly, and the next day they would be going to Jiazhou City. On that day, Chi Yan got off work on time, went to a hair salon to get a new hairstyle, and then went home to pick out clothes. He even wondered if he would be spending the night there, so he prepared another set of clothes and a pair of shoes.

Oh, yes, he would also be meeting Chu Yang's parents. Although he had met them before, he was still a little afraid. He also needed to buy gifts, including one for his future little brother-in-law.

After getting his hair done, Chi Yan went to the mall and bought a bunch of gifts for the meeting, filling up the trunk of his car. Finally, he went to tidy up his place.

That evening, after a video call with Chu Yang, Chi Yan went to bed early as he needed to be in a good state the next day.

The next morning at 6 a.m., Chi Yan was already up. The butler was surprised to see him, "Young Master, why are you up so early?"

Chi Yan had a joyful look on his face, "I have something to do today. Oh, and I won't be coming back today. Hmm, I probably won't be back for the next three days."

The butler could sense his happiness, "Is there some joyous occasion?"

Chi Yan nodded, "Yes. But you'll know about it later."

The butler recalled how happy Chi Yan was when he received a package sent from Jiazhou City before. Recalling that Chi Yan had mentioned having a girlfriend, the butler figured he must be going to see his girlfriend. After all, Chi Yan had been working throughout the summer vacation and rarely went out with friends on weekends.

After finishing breakfast and preparing himself, Chi Yan set off at 6:30 a.m.

He hummed all the way, and even if someone cut him off on the road, Chi Yan maintained a good mood: nothing could ruin his mood today.

Around 10:30 a.m., Chi Yan arrived.

Inside, Chu's Mom heard the car and went to open the door. Upon seeing the familiar face, she smiled and went forward, "Little Yan has arrived!"

Chi Yan shyly rubbed his head, "Hello, Auntie."

"Good, good. Chu Yang is in her room getting ready. She told us earlier that you were coming today. Come in quickly."

"Oh, okay. Wait a moment, I brought gifts." He opened the trunk and took out bags of gifts.

Chu's Mom said, "Why did you bring gifts again? And so many of them. Don't bring any next time."

"It's fine, Auntie."

Chu's Mom called out towards the inside, "Little Luo, come and help out."

"Okay." A young boy came running out from inside. He looked very youthful, but his appearance was quite decent. Chi Yan immediately knew this was Chu Yang's younger brother, Chu Luo. Recalling that he had met Chu Yang's family before, Chi Yan remained calm and said, "I also brought a gift for Little Luo."

Chu Luo glared at him, then went to help carry the bags.

As the group walked into the living room, Chu Yang came out of her room. Upon seeing Chi Yan, she said, "You're here?" Then she looked towards Chu's Mom, "Mom, have you started cooking yet?"

Chu's Mom patted her head, "Oh no, I haven't. But the timing is just right. I'll go cook now. Little Luo, come help out."

"Okay."

After that, only the two of them were left in the living room. Chi Yan took big strides towards Chu Yang and hugged her, "I missed you so much."

Chu Yang hugged him back briefly, then pushed him away and pulled him into her room, "You must be tired from driving so far. Rest on my bed first."

Chi Yan was indeed a bit tired, but he was also very excited. He looked around Chu Yang's room, feeling that everything was very familiar. Hazy images even flashed in his mind, but no matter how he tried, he couldn't remember. His head even started to ache a little, so Chi Yan didn't dare think about it anymore.

Chu Yang noticed Chi Yan frowning, "What's wrong?"

Chi Yan relaxed his brow, "Nothing. I haven't changed clothes or showered yet. Will I dirty your bed if I lie on it?"

Chu Yang waved her hand dismissively, "It's fine. After all, I'll be leaving with you today. After we leave, Mom will help me take the sheets to be washed and cleaned, then put everything back in order. You rest first."

"Okay." Chi Yan took off his shoes and lay down. Chu Yang picked up the remote control and lowered the air conditioning temperature by two degrees.

As Chi Yan lay down, Chu Yang was about to leave the room, but he immediately sat up when he saw her leaving, "Where are you going?"

Chu Yang pointed towards the kitchen, "I'm going to help with the cooking. Be good and rest first. We'll have plenty of time together anyway."

"Okay." Chi Yan obediently lay back down, "Then remember to call me."

"Mm-hmm."

After Chi Yan closed his eyes, Chu Yang went to help in the kitchen. Early that morning, Chu's Dad had gone to buy ingredients, and he had also prepared some free-range chicken and duck for Chi Yan to take home, just like the previous year.

Chi Yan probably lay down for about an hour before Chu Yang called him to eat.

Chi Yan went to the washroom to freshen up, then followed Chu Yang to the dining table. The meal was sumptuous, with chicken, duck, and fish. Chi Yan recalled hearing that when visiting a girlfriend's family, the more lavish the meal prepared by her parents, the more they liked and valued him.

Since the meal was so lavish now, it meant Uncle and Auntie were very pleased with him. Chi Yan secretly rejoiced in his heart, then glanced at Chu Yang. If Uncle and Auntie were pleased with him, then Chu Yang must be very pleased with him too.

After finishing the meal and chatting for a while, Chu's Dad and Chu's Mom prepared some things for the two of them: fruits, dried fruits, as well as one chicken, one duck, and one goose each, all slaughtered and prepared. There were also corn, carrots, vegetables, and more.

Chi Yan was a little shocked when he saw everything. Chu Luo said from the side, "You didn't even feed them this year, but you still get to eat all this."

Chi Yan blinked, so he had done this last year as well?

A little after 1 p.m., Chu Yang bid farewell to her family and left with Chi Yan.

At around 5 p.m., the two arrived at Chi Yan's place. Since Chu's Mom had prepared so many things for them, they didn't need to buy any groceries.

Chi Yan simply used the ready-made ingredients to cook two dishes and one soup, and the two of them ate everything.

Then the two of them snuggled on the couch to rest, Vice President Chi holding Chu Yang tightly in his embrace as the projector played a recently released ancient puppet show.

"Why don't you stay here until school starts again?" Chi Yan nuzzled her neck.

Chu Yang didn't hesitate, "Okay." Since she needed to make it up to him, Chu Yang wouldn't object to anything that didn't go against her principles.

Chi Yan was delighted, kissing her cheeks twice, and then seeing that Chu Yang didn't push him away, he became even more emboldened, nuzzling here and there.
