Chapter 530: Chapter 530 What if one day you get pregnant too?
(Chapter Six)
A restrained dinner came to an end. After eating, the four of them left the small canteen and went to a nearby quiet spot.
Yang Qingyin called Yang Qingye aside for a private conversation.
Luo Ziling could faintly hear the sound of their quarrel drifting over, the higher pitch undoubtedly belonged to Yang Qingyin’s voice, while Yang Qingye, clearly weaker, didn’t dare contend with the furious Yang Qingyin.
After a short while, the siblings returned. When they came back, Yang Qingye was hanging his head low, looking very much like a subdued man.
Yang Qingyin pulled Luo Ziling aside, leaving Yang Qingye to discuss matters with Jiang Xiaojin by themselves.
“What’s going on?” Luo Ziling, who hadn’t expected to stumble upon such turmoil at Qinghua Garden, asked Yang Qingyin in a somewhat bemused manner: “What were you two talking about just now?”
“He got himself into this mess, so he should solve it,” Yang Qingyin said, clearly angry. “He knew full well that he couldn’t marry her, yet he still stayed with her for so long and even got her pregnant.”
Yang Qingyin’s angry remark left Luo Ziling at a loss for words.
He and Yang Qingyin knew, too, that it was highly unlikely that they could be together, but they hadn’t broken up.
Yang Qingyin seemed to realize this as well and her expression darkened, turning sorrowful in an instant.
After standing silently for a while, Yang Qingyin shook her head, “They’re different. Qingye simply has a casual mindset. Jiang Xiaojin comes from an average background in a northern village. She’s pretty, has a nice figure, and she took the initiative to get close to Qingye. This guy didn’t have the heart to refuse, so they ended up together. My parents had warned him before, telling him not to toy with her feelings. But no one expected things to turn out this way!”
After pondering for a moment, Luo Ziling blurted out a question: “If one day you got pregnant too, what would you do?”
Right after the words left his mouth, Luo Ziling awkwardly wanted to slap himself for asking such a question.
Yang Qingyin, too, was clearly startled by the question, and blushed as she recovered from her surprise.
“I didn’t mean anything by it, I just asked subconsciously,” Luo Ziling stammered an explanation.
While explaining, he received a pinch on his arm from Yang Qingyin.
Just when Luo Ziling thought Yang Qingyin wouldn’t answer, she responded softly, “I’ll just do what your mother did.”
“Uh,” Luo Ziling was stunned by her response.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Seeing Luo Ziling staring dumbfounded at her, Yang Qingyin, who had been blushing and acting coy, suddenly felt no embarrassment at all and looked at Luo Ziling earnestly, with a defiant expression.
“Luo Ziling,” she called out his full name.
“Hmm?!”
“I know you won’t be irresponsible like Qingye,” Yang Qingyin continued to look earnestly at Luo Ziling, “and you won’t make things difficult for me…”
She was too embarrassed to finish her sentence, and after glancing up at Luo Ziling with a blush, she said no more.
Luo Ziling understood what Yang Qingyin meant and was deeply moved, gripping her hand tightly.
Yang Qingyin also held Luo Ziling’s hand firmly, intertwining their fingers together.
Yang Qingye continued to discuss matters with Jiang Xiaojin, but Jiang Xiaojin didn’t say much, spending most of the time with her head down, looking very pitiful. As Yang Qingye spoke, she grew increasingly agitated, and eventually, Jiang Xiaojin ran away in tears.
After Jiang Xiaojin cried and ran off, Yang Qingye returned to Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin dejectedly.
The two, who had been holding hands, quickly separated and stood at a distance from each other.
“Big sister, she’s just trying to blackmail me on purpose. Don’t be deceived by her frail appearance,” Yang Qingye said frustratedly, “I really haven’t been with her that much, and we’ve always taken precautions. She’s just using pregnancy to coerce me into staying with her.”
“Have you told her how you plan to handle it?” Yang Qingyin’s expression grew stern again, “Either way, this is a hurtful situation for her.”
Yang Qingye looked dejected and said, “I’ll accompany her to the hospital tomorrow.”
“Did she agree?” Yang Qingyin asked again.
“She should agree,” Yang Qingye replied with his head still down, “I’ll just give her a bit more money as compensation. That should satisfy her.”
“You should also end things with the woman you’re currently seeing sooner rather than later. Stop messing around with these things.” Even though they were twins, Yang Qingyin was absolutely authoritative in front of Yang Qingye, “You have to think about the consequences for yourself and not get into trouble. If mom and dad find out, you’re not going to have it easy.”
Yang Qingye looked up, his gaze defiantly meeting Yang Qingyin’s, and muttered, “Aren’t you the same?”
“You…” Yang Qingyin was taken aback by Yang Qingye’s retort and became somewhat angrily embarrassed.
“I even cover for you,” Yang Qingye continued to grumble discontentedly, “and you don’t even help me. It’s not like I sought this out; she threw herself at me.”
The fact that her own affair with Luo Ziling was being compared with Yang Qingye’s irritated Yang Qingyin even more, but in Luo Ziling’s presence, she couldn’t argue with Yang Qingye and could only glare at her brother angrily.
Luo Ziling had no choice but to smooth things over, “Qingye, you’re an adult too, you should be able to handle such matters on your own. I trust you will deal with this properly and won’t make your sister angry.”
“Thanks for the trust, brother-in-law,” Yang Qingye said with a grateful smile to Luo Ziling, then turned to Yang Qingyin and assured her seriously, “Sister, don’t worry, I’ll handle it.”
“Fine, I’ll leave you to it since I’ve got enough on my plate,” Yang Qingyin, clearly affected by Yang Qingye’s earlier words, decided not to argue further.
Hearing that Yang Qingyin was not going to scold him, Yang Qingye breathed a sigh of relief.
None of the three of them expected that Jiang Xiaojin would actually cause significant trouble for Yang Qingye, as well as for Yang Qingyin and Luo Ziling.
Yang Qingye seemed to have a thick skin, as he quickly recovered, cracking a few jokes and behaving as if nothing had happened.
He regained his composure as before the meal, continuously calling out “Sister” and “Brother-in-law” as he headed toward their training venue.
Inside the training venue, several people were already playing instruments, and the mixture of sounds made it quite noisy.
“Our ensemble has many members, and there’s a performance tonight. Later, I’ll perform a flute solo in front of everyone; you guys can listen from the audience and give me some pointers,” said Yang Qingye with a smile, gesturing for Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin to sit down first, “I need to get ready!”
“Go on!” Yang Qingyin had already regained her composure and chose a position far away to sit down with Luo Ziling.
Just as Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin were settling in and Yang Qingye was preparing to go train, a shrill female voice called out, “Qingye, I’m here to watch you train!”
Luo Ziling looked up and immediately groaned inwardly.
It was Chen Xiaoxiao.
What do you think?
