Chapter 50 - When Two Great Beauties Clash
With Ouyang Feifei leading in front, the two sisters entered the cafe located on the fifth floor of Chuyuan Hotel. There, they instinctively searched for the most luxurious looking private room, inside of which sat a woman sipping her coffee in an elegant manner.
In an instant, Ouyang Feifei recognized who that beautiful woman was. Once called the prettiest flower in Yenching, she was none other than the one in charge of Northern Group.
Standing beside her was another lady. Her eyes behind her thick-framed glasses were completely devoid of any emotion.
Ouyang Feifei recognized who she was too. Her name is Wu Yue, Ling Ruonan’s most trusted aide.
“I am really sorry, President Ling-“, said Ouyang Feifei as she walked forward. “-for making you wait.”
Although Ling Ruonan was a middle-aged woman, one could barely see any signs of aging on her face, primarily due to her strict maintenance routine. While Ouyang Feifei was confident in every aspect of her abilities, for some reason, she couldn’t help but feel intimidated in the face of Ling Ruonan.
“President Ouyang, you should know very well the reason I have called you here to this meeting”, said Ling Ruonan with an unfriendly expression. She then glared at the now trembling Ouyang Huihui. “I am deeply angered by today’s incident!”
“I am sincerely sorry for what had happened.” Ouyang Feifei apologized once more. She proceeded to explain why the incident happened and what was going to happen afterward. “My grandfather plans to invite him over for dinner and we would like him to do a checkup on our health. Grandpa Luo fears that my illness isn’t completely gone yet. He has informed us that the coming two years will be the best time to eradicate the problem, so my grandfather is requesting for his assistance. But, of course that is not the only reason. He would like to invite him to dinner for old time’s sake too. The dinner would, of course, be on Huihui’s tab.”
Ouyang Feifei turned over to her sister who was so scared that she kept her eyes glued to the floor. “It was unfortunate in regards to what had happened the first time Huihui and Luo Ziling met. She bumped into Li Dongjun and his bodyguard when she was supposed to return to the villa. Knowing that Li Dongjun was pursuing both her and myself, Huihui took advantage of his feelings as a chance to manipulate the man into a fight with Luo Ziling.”
It was a rare occasion for Ouyang Feifei to speak so many words in one go. Today was an exceptional day indeed.
However, Ling Ruonan was not planning on saving her face. Still talking with an unfriendly tone, she said, “It’s easy for you to say that a fight broke out between them. The fact remains that my boy was all on his own during this incident. For Li Dongjun to fire his gun even after calling over his goons, tell me, if it wasn’t for his self-defense skills, he would’ve been as good as dead, would he not?”
Ling Ruonan’s eyes were reddened and her lips were bit as she spoke about this.
“I am really sorry.” This was the third time she had apologized. “My grandfather has already cleared up the issue with the Li family. They will be paying compensation as an apology for endangering Luo Ziling’s life.”
“I don’t want compensation. I want Li Dongjun’s life!” A bloodthirsty look surfaced on Ling Ruonan’s face. “I will never allow anyone to humiliate my son!”
That phrase almost made Ouyang Huihui jump out of her skin. Even Ouyang Feifei found it hard to conceal the shock she felt.
“P-President Ling.” Finally, Ouyang Huihui, who had been silent the whole time, started speaking, but with a stutter. “T-This, I-I am responsible for t-this matter. I just wanted to get b-back at him and I never expected the s-situation to get out of c-control so badly. If you’re angry, p-please direct your anger at me. I am w-willing to bear the consequences of my own a-actions…”
“If he was murdered, what do you think I should do? Huh? Tell me! What do you think I would do?!” Ling Ruonan tried her best to restrain her emotions as she glared at the two sisters with the eyes of a predator. “20 years have passed and it was through great effort that I was able to finally bring him back to Yenching. You uncontrollable lot almost killed my boy even before I got the chance to see him! Listen up! If something bad were to happen to him, the both of you will be buried along with him. I can guarantee that.”
Ling Ruonan’s words sent chills up even Ouyang Feifei’s spine, let alone the inexperienced Ouyang Huihui.
Right around then, Ouyang Feifei’s assistant, Wang Qing, entered the room with a phone in hand, saying that it was a call from Ouyang Lingyun for her.
Ouyang Feifei excused herself before answering the call. Then, she turned toward Ling Ruonan. “My grandfather would like to speak to you.”
At that moment, Ouyang Feifei’s arrogance had vanished into thin air. Standing in front of Ling Ruonan, she could only droop her head in silence, like a student being lectured severely by her teacher.
Although she felt bitter about being put down like that, she chose to not run away. In fact, she was planning to take this infamous tigress head-on.
The both of them rarely interacted with each other, so they weren’t very close to begin with. Of the handful of times that they did speak to each other, it would always be about official matters like their business plans.
However, because of Luo Ziling and their marriage contract, Ouyang Feifei knew in her heart that Ling Ruonan was an obstacle she must overcome sooner or later. She was a woman, as well as her senior, who possessed the rare ability to pressure her and to put her back in her place.
No matter how badly Ling Ruonan treated her, she must suck it up and if possible, try to change her position for the better.
Ling Ruonan, upon receiving Ouyang Feifei’s phone, walked to one corner before she began talking.
Throughout the entirety of their conversation, Ouyang Feifei remained silent. She did not even spare her sister, who was shaking in fear, a look.
Perhaps it was because of this that the fear in Ouyang Huihui’s heart grew even greater. Still, she had not the guts to open her mouth to ask her big sister for words of reassurance.
It was over 10 minutes later when Ling Ruonan hung up and passed the phone back to Ouyang Feifei.
Noticing how Ling Ruonan was no longer as hostile as before, Ouyang Feifei sighed in relief.
“You will consult my boy about this matter. If he agrees to let it slide, I will accept his decision”, said Ling Ruonan as she looked directly into Ouyang Feifei’s eyes. “If he chooses not to forgive Li Dongjun however, I will actualize his wishes, whether it be Li Dongjun’s death, or the demise of the both of you.”
The last time Luo Ziling got into a fight at school, Ling Ruonan had ordered for Wu Yue to intervene personally. Today’s incident was multitudes more serious, which was why she could no longer turn a blind eye to the event. Ling Ruonan had never been so angered before, to the point where she was threatening to kill whoever that dared lay his or her finger on her son.
Ling Ruonan’s words and her stabbing gaze made Ouyang Feifei extremely uncomfortable. Still, she had no other choice but to mumble a response. “I will consult him about this matter. Rest assured, he will be provided with sufficient compensation for this. If he still refuses to forgive Li Dongjun, I will personally be in charge of his disposal.”
“Very well,” said Ling Ruonan as she rose from her seat. “I’m leaving. Do keep in mind that I will constantly be looking over your every action.”
Both Ouyang Feifei and Ouyang Huihui stood up.
Today was the day Ouyang Feifei officially met Ling Ruonan and it had ended with her total annihilation. At least, this was what Ouyang Feifei felt.
“From now on, I want the both of you to stay away from him.” Ling Ruonan walked one step toward the door before she turned around with a serious look on her face. “Before I forget, you should know that I am wholeheartedly against your marriage. I do not hope to see you as my future daughter-in-law. You are not suited for my boy.”
This final blow changed Ouyang Feifei’s facial expression in a split second.
Ling Ruonan was unfazed by this. After bidding farewell, she left the room together with her assistant, Wu Yue.
Ouyang Feifei did not leave immediately. Her sister stood there awkwardly beside her as the room returned to dead silence.
“Not only does he despise me, but I have also failed to earn his mother’s approval. Am I really that bad?” asked Ouyang Feifei with a bizarre smile on her face. It seemed like she was talking to herself despite looking at Ouyang Huihui as she spoke. “I am really a failure of a human being, aren’t I?”
“Sis, she was acting like a total b*tch about it.” Ouyang Huihui wore a dissatisfied frown on her face as she tried to reassure her big sister. “What right does she have to judge us like that? What right does she have to threaten our lives? What right does she have to disapprove of you? Hmph! We shouldn’t even bother with that bratty kid!”
A sinister smile broke across Ouyang Feifei’s face. “I’m not gonna back down.”
“Sis, you…” Ouyang Huihui was a little dumbfounded. She had never seen her sister react in such a way before.
In the high society of Yenching, Ouyang Feifei possessed a presence comparable to a queen.
Although both her and Yang Qingyin were referred to as “Yenching’s Twin Pearls”, the latter’s popularity paled in comparison to the former as she was still a university student. Ouyang Feifei, who had more exposure to the real world where she forged close relationships with many high-ranking members of society, was miles ahead of Yang Qingyin in terms of reputation.
A great deal of men threw themselves at Ouyang Feifei’s feet, hoping that she would accept one of them, but their efforts were in fact, all in vain.
However, after facing Luo Ziling’s mother, Ling Ruonan, Ouyang Feifei’s pride and standing had completely been shattered into a million pieces. Not only had she been rejected by Luo Ziling, she was even rejected by his mother.
Even a random girl on the street would find this hard to accept, let alone Ouyang Feifei, whose ego had been inflated by her environment.
Fearing that her sister would lose her rationality under pressure, Ouyang Huihui was growing increasingly worried.
However, before she could open her mouth again, Ouyang Feifei had left the room. Ouyang Huihui had no other option but to trail behind her in silence.
