Chapter 89: I'm Not Super Intelligent? (4)

Jason felt refreshed when he woke up. Even though it was now dark outside, there was still plenty of light. This was thanks to the streetlights that had been installed throughout the city. At the same time, Jason only just realised that his room had something similar installed in the ceiling.

'This would have made life in Highrise a lot better if we had it. Why don't they share this with the towns? Are they afraid of what it could lead to?' Jason found himself with many questions running through his mind right now, but they were drowned out by his excitement to create things.

How often would a chance like this come around anyway? He could go all out with his Power without worrying about materials or being discovered! It felt liberating in a sense.

Jason used the bathroom to get a shower and freshen up. 'I'll need to get some new clothes as well. These ones are literally falling apart.' Jason sighed as he wondered if Sentinel would be able to take care of that for him as well.

By the time he opened the door, Friday was already standing there waiting for him. Jason's eyes went wide as he looked at the hologram.

"Lord Sentinel is currently undergoing his sleep cycle. You are free to use anything you require inside of this room. If there is anything that you need, please let me know so I can forward a request on your behalf." The graceful sounding old man bowed before wandering off to stand by a wall quietly.

'That was weird.' Jason shook the strange interaction off and decided to begin by actually inspecting the available materials. He ended up whistling to himself a few times as his eyebrows raised whenever he found something interesting.

'I guess I should start by actually deciding what I want to do.' Jason pondered over his own thoughts as he tried to think of something suitable. 'I need a new ranged weapon I can't do a redesign of the Arbalest or Viper. That'll just make me look sus. Then, I should think about a new melee weapon. Something more suitable for myself.'

Jason's fantasies began to run away from him as he thought about how best to abuse his current situation. 'Since Sentinel will throw me into Guardian training, should I consider making some proper armour as well? Maybe some countermeasures for a few abilities couldn't go amiss either?'

The moment Jason thought about it, a bunch of schematics and chemical formulae flooded his mind. 'Well, I should take this seriously anyway. Even if I'm just going to end up upgrading to something better soon anyway.' Jason chuckled as he selected a few of the more promising ideas and tagged their requirements.

He then wrote down on a piece of paper all of the materials he needed or a description of the item before showing it to Friday. Everything on the list was just what he needed that he could not find anywhere amongst the piles of junk. But, it still took Friday a few minutes to scan everything that he had written down.

"I'll pass this along for you, sir. It might take some time for everything to be delivered. I apologise for the inconvenience." Friday bowed again to show his sincerity.

"It's fine Friday. Thanks for your help." Jason smiled as he started to warm up to the hologram. He was extremely helpful as an AI, whereas Syssie usually hit him with sarcastic comments. Jason felt that Sentinel had won the lottery with Friday.

"I resent that!" Syssie chuckled. She did not take his thoughts too seriously. She knew that Jason appreciated her.

Jason smiled broadly as he rubbed his hands together in excitement. 'Shall we get started then?'

He dove into the piles of junk as he searched for the most suitable parts and would require as minor modifications as possible to meet his needs. A small mountain was starting to form next to the workbenches as he kept adding more items to the pile.

From time to time, he would spot Guardians entering the area to deliver the things he requested. This obviously included many items required to create chemicals and other things. He was even surprised when they had taken the initiative to supply him with equipment he knew nothing about.

Jason suspected that Friday might have used his own authority to add these items to the list. In preparation for a point when Jason might actually need them. That way, he would not have to ask for new stuff again later on in his projects.

Jason grew excited as he moved some things around to create his own personal workspace just the way he liked it. Friday took the opportunity to explain to Jason what some of the tools he had never seen before were. Such as the electrical grinder and saw for cutting and shaping metal more easily.

Jason's breathing became heavy as he pretty much drooled over such marvellous items. Needless to say, he was eager to try them out! Loud sounds soon filled the room for the next few hours as Jason took the time to get used to using them one by one. After all, it would have been idiotic of him to just jump right into trying to create something using unfamiliar tools.

Jason's eyes shone like he was seeing stars once he was satisfied. 'Ok, what schematic should I make first?' He flicked through the ones he had chosen before he found one he was happy with. 'Let's start with this!'

Jason grabbed a few plants and stuffed them in a container as he started the preparations to make the compressed gas that he was so used to now. As that would take some time, he decided to select what he needed to turn it into a weapon. He found some leather straps and heat resistant metals.

'This should be good. Maybe fill it out with some leather on the inside.'
