Chapter 62 - Underestimate

Chapter 62 - Underestimate

The door was wide open in front of her when she stepped inside the house with calmness. She doesn't know why but it felt too strange to step into a stranger's place with so much warmness.

'He is welcoming me to his house..despite when I'm his enemy's bride..' she was not only confused but had tons of questions deep inside her heart. Yet, asking them was not the best option currently so she pushed them deeper into the deepest corner of her heart.

Javier closed the door behind them and locked it. He switched on the lights, but before that, the sunset rays falling from the window was enough to see the things which were placed in the living room.

"So...do you like it?" Javier asked, with a proud smile on his face but her gaze was sweeping around her new house. There was a couch in the living space, with a television LED in front of it and a coffee table in the middle. There was a rug too and beneath their surface were the wooden floor tiles.

When she moved towards the other side, what came to her view was the simple modular kitchen and dining table at the entrance of the kitchen. It was simple, at least for a bachelor like him.

"I...It is beautiful in the simplest way.." looking at ceilings, she saw the high relief and was amazed to see the handwork done on the walls themselves. "This will be our home for a few weeks I guess until any problem arises."

"For a few weeks? After that, what?" Jennifer looks around to look at his face with uncertainty. She was utterly confused, whether he meant that his work was soon going to be completed by Lucas and will he send her back afterward?

Something seems to make her sense panic in her body. The fear was unknown but somehow Javier noticed her uneven breathing due to his comment.

He immediately walked near her and held her shoulders tightly, "Jennifer, look into my eyes.."

"Umm?" she didn't reason the way she reacted. Her entire body was suddenly sweating which gave him a clear indication as she was thinking something horrible. "Jennifer, what happened? Ask me, right now!"

"W..We...Will..s..send me..aw..way?" she somehow managed to utter word by word, which came out very unstable but with all the capability of Javier, he understood her panicking state as well. A sigh escaped his mouth when he understood her worry more correctly.

"No, I'm not letting you go anywhere. Even if Lucas completed our demands, I believe it won't be as simple to let you go now.."

Jennifer was not able to comprehend his words clear insider mind. It sounded more like an indication that he had things to hide which were the prominent reason why he kidnapped her.

"So...does that mean..w..w" Jennifer way cut in the middle when Javier stepped more closer to her body, and hugged her tightly, leaving no space between each other for air to pass at least!

His overbearing hug, made her face rest on his broad shoulders, and she can clearly hear his normal heartbeat. Somehow, it managed to calm her messy heart too where her frown came back to the simple forehead.

It was magical to see herself changing so much in his response. Why did this affect her? Was his presence always so influential or is it...only for her?

"Jennifer, I said that this will be our home for few weeks because after Lucas finished our work, I'm pretty much sure that everyone will ask me to give you back but as I Told you earlier, I have more things to hide, secrets hidden deep in my soul... We might just run away for more time until things settle and.." and I get to know why Lucas is after you for all the sudden rush to make you his wife.

He kept the second half of his sentence in his own throat because it might surely make her panic once again.

Jennifer slowly and gradually brought her hand behind him, and return his hug to avoid the situation awkwardness. Her hands were other in the air, flying out and why not have more warmth out of his body?

"Alright..thank you so much for your clarification. I hope that soon you will reveal the reasons..those are hidden deep in our your soul.'' She was embarrassed at herself. Her voice sounded too foreign to her own ears, it was somehow making her legs go weak at the point due to the shyness.

At last, Jennifer broke out of the embrace before she could have not taken in accordance her own emotions due to her negligence. 'Handle yourself, Jennifer otherwise this man will give you a real heart attack that you won't be able to handle on your own.' she thought.

"So... are you hungry?" Jennifer asked to divert the entire situation into another arrow when Javier nodded his head, "We haven't eaten anything since morning. In The morning, we had to face those killers. Our ideal breakfast was left on the kitchen counter."

"It doesn't matter. Running with our lives safe was more important than breakfast. At least we made up here unharmed." she was grateful that no one among them was injured or hurt. All thanks to her prayers and God who supported them in this deadly situation.

Jennifer head towards the kitchen, and put her hair into a bun, tugging them with the chopstick present in the kitchen, "I will make something for us to eat. Get fresh."

"Are you sure that you will not burn the entire kitchen because of cooking?" Javier cautiously asked, but in return, he received hundreds of glares from her side.

"Okay Okay, I will leave the kitchen work to you until then, I should go and freshen up a little bit." He was ready to go back to his room to have a relaxing bath before he heard her voice.

"Remember the golden rule, never underestimate a woman's cooking skills if you ever wish to have a girlfriend in your life!"
