Chapter 95: End of the Ark II

Chapter 95: End of the Ark II

There is much to be said about the land of Mythos but, one of it is how prone it is to falling into chaos. Zeke was there to prevent this however. The human created significant changes to the land of Elysium in his short stay within the continent.

His first accomplishment is completely wiping out the bandits which trouble the citizens o of the land. He effectively cleaned up the largest bandit and mercenary organization in not less than a day's worth of time. And not only this! He was even able to clear the forest from all the monsters that inhabited it. Then came the defeat of the first evil king which, unfortunately was followed up by an even stronger evil king.

But Zeke was also able to clear this problem after he dealt with the almost impossible task given to him by the goddess of the hunt. With all the disadvantages that got in his way, Zeke was still able to overcome every obstacle but, a human can only do so much. At the end of the day, Zeke is still mortal and thus, flawed.

Glade saw this starting from the moment he first encountered the human. He saw how efficient Zeke is and, even tested out how the human would handle cases that proved to be more difficult from the last. All were cleared by Zeke; making Glade even more exhilarated for he knew right there and then that; the human would be the solution to all his problems with the ultimate warrior Gallio Leonis.

He effectively forced his way to Zeke, creating a contract which made the human believe that he would be the one to finish of Gallio and not Glade. Yet all of these are part of Glade's masterful scheming with the help of his benefactor, Pier.

During the fight of the two, Glade had only a single thought running through his head. Even if one of the two lives, that person would be too weak to face him off. Gallio would be a more troublesome opponent, requiring Glade to actually bring out a cursed weapon which could eat his life away. But, this didn't happen. The human came out triumphant and, with this, Glade is able to assimilate Gallio completely, finishing off the human before he could even move from where he stands.

With the death of Zeke, nothing stood in the way of Glade anymore. The elf turned the whole of Mythos upside down, bringing chaos and ruin upon the land. He wreaked havoc wherever he went and, days of unending torment came to the poor citizens.

With Gallio's rule, Glade learned how fear is the most effective way to discipline the people. Thus, he continued enforcing strict and harsh laws to the people. Those who violated his laws got sentenced into a hallucinatory torture. They'd get injected with a serum that immediately places the accused within an unending nightmare loop. While this goes on, their real body is left within a prison cell. As soon as their hearts stopped beating, Glade's men would decapitate the head which would have a specific look plastered on it. His men would then stick it up a pole in the middle of town, with the look of fear permanently glued on these poor victims.

Even with this, there were still some who dared challenge Glade. Resistance Groups were put up by the people. The Dwarves, the Elves, the Beastmen, and the demons all did what they could to push back the forces of the mad king. Yet, all their efforts couldn't possibly match someone who has assimilated all the skills and attributes of the strongest creature in their world.

If only the continents worked together toward a single goal, they would've stood a chance. This much could be proven because, the Dwellers fought on equal terms with the gods. Yet, even working together was impossible. With the war raging on all continents, they had no choice but to focus their attentions on defending their own lands. The fights raged on and on with, each continent using up all their aces to fight against Glade and his forces.

None of these tactics ever worked and, everything they did simply proved to be futile against the new king. With Pier backing him up, Glade could trick and fool anyone without much effort.

"You would've been a better opponent than these guys." Glade said to himself. Remembering Zeke who singlehandedly defeated Gallio at full strength. The two of these were the only hindrances to his plan and so, having them fight each other to death gave Glade the opportunity finish them off at the same time.

Pier told him later on about how furious the main deities are with him. The elf simply laughed about this as he proceeded with his plans. Within all continents, he took the shards which were forgotten with the passing of time. These are called [Chaos Shards] and what could they do exactly? A lot of things.

They can give energy. Strengthen creatures. Become materials for weapons and, so much more. However, the reason why this material was forgotten with the passing of time is because of the danger it possessed.

The improper use of it can cause the death of those who wield it. The power it holds can also corrupt and thus, no matter how powerful these gems are, nobody dared make use of them. Even as a last resort, they rare not worth risking on as, some cases of users going insane have also been recorded eliminating both kin and foe.

Glade isn't concerned with this at all because with him is the god who was able to decipher the material and make proper use of it. The obsidian stone floating on top of Pier's staff is made of condensed [Chaos Shards] which has been refined to the point that, the minor god continually gathers negative energy everywhere.

This same item was gifted to Glade. Of course the gods would know if Pier opened a portal and so he didn't resort to this. The god knew that this material could be found on various corpses of [Mythical Beats] just lying under the surface. He gave instructions to Glade on how to mine it and soon enough, Glade was able to gather all of these with the exception of some which were only found at the [Demon Continent of Helios].

He couldn't get these last pieces because they were placed in the bottom of a [Rift]. There was [Chaos Poison] being emitted out of it. A substance that killed Glade's soldiers just by standing on top of the rift. Aside from this, there were also monsters that dwelled on the bottom, making the operation even more dangerous. Hence the king decided to disregard the area altogether, knowing that nobody would ever be able to enter it.

"So you left that huh? Such a pity." Pier said which gained the irritation of Glade.

"Not everyone is immortal like you so shut up." Glade said in reply.

"Oooooh scary." The god said in reply.

Using the [Chaos Shards], Glade was able to revive monsters from the ancient times. Including the Chimeras themselves and dragons which evolved into [Chaos Dragons]. There are ten of these in total and, it only takes one to destroy a whole continent overnight.

Glade didn't stop here. He personally took and trained a lot of warriors under his wing. He made them undergo experiment after experiment, ensuring the warriors that, their families would be safe. And if there's one thing which Glade is good at, it is keeping his end of the bargain within the promised clauses.

Some of these warriors didn't care about such things and only wanted to get stronger. The majority of these are those from the Beastmen's continent and the Demon continent. These individuals also proved to be the most useful for Glade as, they came out more resilient than the other races.

With the fruits of all his experiments, Glade made the evolved warriors the leaders for every continent. He based the amount of land ruled by these warriors depending on their overall capability, not just their strength. Hence, some weaker warriors were able to gather more land than those which only had brute strength backing them up.

Aside from this, he created supreme rulers for every continent. He gave these individuals the title of [Counts].

These are individuals who have already evolved and, are proficient in both leadership and fighting. All generals report directly to whoever [Count] leads the continent. This ensured that things were all in order because, Glade didn't want to completely destroy Mythos. All he wanted was to recreate Mythos; to a version befitting his ideals and his desires.

The years went on and, Glade easily got tired of the easiness of everything. After all the fighting and the war, the hype continued rolling downward. But this isn't the end of everything for Glade. He has grander schemes which are yet to be put in motion.

But a main component to this plan is one thing - entering the [Ruined City]. Within it are all the stored knowledge of the Dwellers. Beings strong enough to eb feared by the gods themselves. Aside from this, there will surely be artifacts waiting for him.

Hence, Glade flattened everything out. He asked the help of Pier once more, thinking that someone like Zeke would be sent again. He was assured that nothing of the sort will happen for, the ones being trained by the main deities are weak when separated.

In preparation for this, Glade made sure that all his generals have been trained properly. If worst comes to worse, he'll have to release his [Chaos Blood Dragons]. But he had confidence in his troops. Especially the supreme ruler of each continent who wields enough power to rival Gallio Leonis himself.

With all the preparations finally complete, Glade began constructing his plan to enter the [Ruined City]. He was helped by Pier of course, the god who knew the ins and outs of the place. This same god carefully gave instructions to Glade which were followed without question.

Thus it came to pass that, after several months, Glade finally entered the [Ruined City]. This was through a portal positioned within Elysium. And there isn't just a single portal.

There are a total of four. With one positioned in every continent. Glade figured that some enemies might get lucky and destroy one portal so he made these many in order to ensure that he could come back to Mythos.

Furthermore, the king positioned his finest generals on this area. Also placing [Chaos Dragons] nearby in for extra measure. After all, Glade knew that it would take him a while before he could gain all the power which the [Ruined City] had in store.

"Everything will go according to my will." Glade told himself, not detecting the presence who watched as he entered the portal.

A shadowy figure watched Glade leave Mythos. Nobody detected his presence nor did he emit any sort of aura or mana. He completely hid all of these, making him good in scouting and assassinating operations. The figure smiled and reported immediately to a person who awaited the updates.

"Daddy he's gone." The figure said through a communication device more advanced than the ones being used by Glade's forces.

"Good job Morpheus. What of the forces?"

"Nobody has seen me. They look weak though. Should I kill them now?" The creature named Morpheus suggested.

"Patience. Everything will happen according to my plans." The man said, with a humanoid dragon standing right beside him.

"Let's make sure that bastard has nothing to return to." The voice continued saying, ordering the Morpheus to fall back into nothingness.
