Chapter 122: Green Death
Chapter 122: Green Death
There are a few places within each continent that are always heavily guarded. And these areas are the same within all continents. The first of which is always the main stronghold of King Glade. This is the place where the king stays at and, because Glade is someone who is always cautious of his surroundings, there was never a record of any group successfully infiltrating it.
Then there's the castle of the one in charge of the Continent. Each one of these individuals are considered to be a bit lower, if not at par, with Glade's strength itself. They don't even need much security because they could handle battles perfectly fine by themselves.
Lastly, there is the portal securing the king himself from any intruder who could possibly interrupt his current undertaking. Around the area, there are two chaos dragons waiting to be deployed. Aside from these, three [Generals] as strong as [Kel'Thraz] are in position and most of the soldiers around are as strong as [Vice-Generals]. There are also a bunch of traps set up within the area making it impossible to enter without accumulating damage.
Barriers of the strongest kind have bene placed on the portal itself and on all areas of defenses. There are also mages, long range artillery units, and healers present. Each of these have been modified by Glade just like every other soldier, making them both stronger and more obedient because of the poison planted within their bodies.
With all this information, it is a fool's errand to try and infiltrate the portal area. Yes, it is a fool's errand and, Zeke Elwood just entered the area.
"INTRUDER!" One soldier shouted as he saw Zeke appearing out of nowhere. Zeke silenced this enemy immediately by using a [Conjure] which stabbed the poor victim at the back. This was enough to raise the alarm of the whole area and, soon enough, the enemies began coming in like a massive wave.
"Boy, this place sure is crowded." He said to himself as he released a mass of dark mana, making the enemies back down just a bit. He smirked at them as he finally said:
"Conjure."
Before proceeding, a lot of explanation need to be made. One of which is how Zeke found a way to the innermost parts of the stronghold without breaking a sweat. Again, it must be noted that even a thousand strong men would have a hard time just reaching the barrier. Normally, a person would be left half dead from all the traps set up. There are also magical crystals lying around, the types which could be fatal once all the conditions are met.
And so the question now arises. How is it exactly that Zeke Elwood entered this area so effortlessly? Well the answer is simple, Zeke used the same skill he activated on the five generals he faced.
Using the [Swap] skill of his, he could easily change locations with one item that he has marked with the skill. And so, even before meeting up the elites, he already placed the link on various crates within the farm. He knew that one of these would be bound to get inside the area and, it did, giving Zeke an opportunity to break-in with ease.
Of course, with all the surprise that came with Zeke's appearance, the soldiers couldn't responds as quicky as possible. In fact, the soldiers on this area are laxer because of the barrier. They have already tested it out, even being able to cancel the flames of a [Chaos Dragon] and, if it could withstand that much then it could withstand anything.
"Where are the others?" One of the platoon leaders asked. All he saw around him however are the [Conjured] soldiers, burning with blue flames of mana, attacking everything in sight.
"Devour." Zeke continued, raising even more [Conjured] monsters, including the [Wyvern Riders].
Zeke had everything covered and, he watched safely from a distance as all of this unfolded. His [Conjures] did a fine job of protecting him especially because, he once again morphed some of them into stronger [Conjures]. He raided three fortresses before coming there after all so, he was loaded with both materials looted and newly [Conjured] creatures.
"Where are the generals?" One of them asked. And as if to answer the cries of their comrades, Zeke saw the a general galloping into the battlefield.
"We're saved!" One of them said but, Zeke thought differently, firring two fully charged bullets from [Death's Void]. This destroyed the unexpecting general, leaving nothing but dust where he stood.
"What was that again?" Zeke said which he thought would dishearten the soldier. But the opposite happened, they attacked more ferociously. Zeke watched this cautiously from a distance, looking at his [Minimap] for two objectives.
The first are the [Chaos Dragons] stationed on the portal. With each of these being strong enough to destroy a whole continent all by themselves, Zeke didn't plan on fighting two of these and the remaining generals all by himself.
"I don't want to damage the mana circuits I just repaired inside my body." Zeke thought to himself, knowing that he can handle it perfectly well but needing him to release most of his powers once again.
But Zeke saw something else with [Minimap]. Red dots everywhere without even an inch away from each other, Zeke saw a swarm of enemies on his [Minimap].
"Okay I'm definitely reaching a hundred after this." He thought to himself, already leveling up thrice from all the fighting he already undertook.
More and more soldiers came for blood. Zeke decided to exert more effort and finally planned on activating a skill which he has been itching to use for a while now. But for that to happen, he still needed to find something. He first took multiple [Conjures] and placed [Detonates] on them, making sure that all areas within the stronghold are covered.
With the massive number of summons Zeke had in the center, all the soldiers had their attentions focused. And Zeke made sure that this was so, creating [Explosions] one by one in order to raise alarm.
Zeke then proceeded to making a few shots with his bullets. He knew that the generals would soon come and, he wasn't entirely confident that he could one shot them the way he did with the first general who came.
Spells came flying toward him but, Zeke simply dodged them all, bringing out the blades of his weapon and proceeding to melee. This made the soldiers even more focused as, the long-range units needed to aim carefully, seeing that their target is now mixed in the sea of soldiers.
The fighting continued on and on until, Zeke reached the edge of the barrier. Every soldier had a menacing smile on their face, thinking that they finally had their opponent cornered. But Zeke only gave them the same look on his face because, his [Conjures] are now in place.
The [Conjures] which moved around had three tasks. One is to find the [Chaos Dragons] and cast a sleeping spell on them using the [Detonate] Zeke placed. It won't last for long but within the time that they are asleep, Zeke knew that he could at least shave down the number of enemies significantly.
The second is to find the crystals which controlled the barrier. Zeke didn't want it to be put down. He wanted it to stay as it is. Locking him up inside together with the soldiers. And lastly, they have been scattered in order for Zeke to finally deliver a skill which he wanted to use for a long time now.
"You know, the barrier actually works two ways. It stops anyone from entering but, it also stops anyone from leaving." Zeke said, as if giving the group a lesson. The group thought that this nothing but a bluff of course. For all they know, the infiltrator is now cornered and, all his [Conjures] are nowhere to be found.
"Quit bluffing."
"There's nowhere to run now."
"We won't give you a swift death."
These were only some of the things told by the soldiers to the gamer. Zeke could feel the cockiness on their voices which was ironic because a few minutes ago they were still screaming like kids.
"You're right. There's no escape." Zeke continued and finally [Detonated] his skill, saying:
"Poison Cloud."
A dark green mist covered the area immediately. It rose as quickly as it was seen and, soon enough, the whole area was engulfed by the skill of Zeke.
With his training, he didn't forget to refine this skill as well. Because he stayed at level one for a long time, he needed a way to continually damage himself in order to strengthen the [Endurance] type skills and, the best way he thought of was always activating the skill [Poison Cloud]. He didn't buy any [Poison Resistance] skill which made him feel the full damage of [Poison] that ran through his body.
Each and every day, this was the training of Zeke. He clouded himself in poison while he meditated and healed himself at the same time. He developed his body to the point that, he started getting hallucinations. But, all of this paid off with the scene unfolding right before him.
The screams soon came from the soldiers who started feeling the effects of Zeke's maxed out [Poison Cloud]. This isn't the only thing which his [Poison Cloud] did. In fact, the skill also has a corroding effect, melting the insides of anyone who gets even a short whiff of it.
"I figured your boss would probably develop a resistance for all of you because, he saw firsthand what poison could do when stacked up. But, he's not the only one thinking ahead." Zeke continued, walking past the soldiers who curled up on the dirt.
There are, of course, more resilient soldiers but Zeke knew what to do with them. He knew exactly how to torture these.
"All this poison is making me a bit violent so I'd like it if you die as slowly as they do." Zeke continued, making the cloud turn a venomous violet color.
"Chaos Poison Cloud."
