Chapter 1588: Competition for Assistant(3)

Uzoma couldn't help but sigh when she saw her son's result on the screen. As expected, the people have been pushed to extremes, which neither helped the populace nor the ruler.

The next moment, Emeka appeared on the platform, and his eyes were filled with disappointment immediately after.

Even though many failed to defend even the first invasion, he was still angry with the result. At the same time, he also worried about what kind of soul injuries he would receive.

His death wasn't good at all. People were so angry with him that they skinned him alive and then hanged him at the city's highest point, leaving him to die slowly.

The soul injury wouldn't be instant after the ouster, but it will appear after leaving the store. As long as they were in store, there would be no sequelae.

Emeka was just one of the several participating in the competition, so no one other than his mother even knew of his disqualification. Everyone was only focused on their family members or those they knew.

One such person in the audience was Gerling. His daughter, Linling was also one of the participants, so he watched her with bated breath.

On the screen without any sections, a woman at her young age was conducting a meeting with fellow governors.

Linling was the president with ultimate power, so she had assigned eleven governors who handled things for her other than cabinet ministers.

Linling was in a world where there were only women. She also bravely faced the invasion and succeeded in thwarting the enemy without many casualties, further consolidating her power.

But the celebration didn't last long and an even stronger enemy was approaching her home planet. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"We can't win against the enemies in our current conditions, but who says we have to fight them right away."

"I talked with Slara, and at the cost of her life, she calculated that it would take three hundred years to reach our planet."

"We were able to thwart these rats when we had only a hundred years, so who says we can't do it once again."

"Master president, the enemy this time is too strong. Unless a miracle occurs, we only have a 0.0000001% chance of defeating them," One of the governors chimed in with a heavy face.

Hearing one of her subordinates, a smile spread across Linling's face. The governors became surprised and one of them cautiously asked, "Master President, are we missing something?"

"No, I am just smiling because our chances of victory aren't zero."

The governor who talked earlier wanted to say something in response but didn't after Linling continued.

"You might think there is no difference between 0 and 0.0000001%, but you have to understand that we have three hundred years to increase that percentage."

"We might not reach even ten percent in that time, but does that mean, we stop everything and just wait for our deaths."

Linling couldn't help but crash onto her bed when there was no second person around her. Even though she said so many things in the meeting, she didn't have much confidence in facing the second invasion like others.

But unlike others, she couldn't give up. She had a feeling that there was no third option for her. She either needed to win against the enemy or die.

No one knew what would be the aliens' response after subjugating the planet, but she had zero confidence that she would survive no matter how kind the enemies felt after their victory.

"I need to become stronger!"

Linling mumbled and fell asleep. The sleep didn't last very long as she was woken up by a disturbing nightmare. Her entire body was wet with sweat.

She couldn't fall asleep anymore and suddenly had the idea of checking the warehouses.

The warehouses held the loot they gained after defending the invasion. They haven't found any miraculous thing, but since the energy signatures of those items were quite high, they still kept it safe, ready to research it.

Linling and others in her world were aware of the different planets as there was a straight grade of planets, and her planet was a ninth grade, the weakest tier of planets.

The invader they just caught was also from the ninth grade planet and similarly, the approaching enemies are of the same grade.

Fortunately for the lower-tier planets, higher-tier planets couldn't invade them. It was a strictly followed rule as the will of the world was sentient.

Linling couldn't help but feel jealous of the invaders. Despite being of the same grade, the power difference between the two sides was unprecedentedly vast. She hadn't told the populace about the invasion, unlike the last time due to the power gap only.

After walking into the last warehouse, she cautiously looked around at the several items she gained from the enemies.

She had a frowning face as she had yet to find anything that could help her or the planet in any way.

She had a feeling that the loot was her hope for surviving the invasion, so despite failing to find anything for the first ten times, she was there again.

She didn't believe she was going to succeed in her eleventh time, but her heart still held hope.

Unfortunately, holding hope doesn't change things, and she was met with the same result as the last time.

There were three products that had high energy signatures, but they couldn't help her or the planet in any way against the approaching enemies.

With a heavy heart, she exited the warehouse and was about to rush outside when suddenly she stumbled upon the edge of one of the shelves.

She was a peak ninth-level warrior, so she stabilized herself immediately. She was about to push the shelf inside so others wouldn't fall when her hands suddenly froze in the air.

The shelf was made of iron, but her body was no less tough, so when she stumbled, the shelf also shook.

There was a bottle containing blood-red liquid on one of the shelves, and it also shook. A horrible pressure emerged out of nowhere, and a fearful expression immediately appeared on Linling's face.

The next moment, a blinding blood-red light appeared and engulfed her. It didn't give her any time to react, and before she could understand what was happening, she was sucked inside the bottle.

With a frightened look, she tried to jump out, but something seemed to be inside the liquid, trying to pull her inside.

Linling struggled since she had a feeling that her result wouldn't be good if she got pulled in. Unfortunately for her, her struggles didn't accomplish anything, and she got sucked inside.

She began to choke as she could no longer breathe, and at the same time, the liquid was crazily seeping into her body through the numerous pores.

Gerling couldn't help but clench his fists with an anxious expression when he saw his daughter's struggle. Then a smile spread across his face, and he breathed a sigh of relief.

In the virtual world,

Linling seemed to have reached the limit when the pressure around her suddenly disappeared and her body immediately turned lighter. At the same time, her surroundings also changed.

She was no longer inside the liquid, but before an endless garden, and not far from her, there was a young girl. The girl didn't wear anything, and when Linling looked down, she also found herself being naked.

Even though their world only had women, it was still taboo to be naked, so she hurriedly sat down, covering herself with tall grass. The young girl only smiled when she saw Linling's actions.

The young girl seemed to be two to three years old, but her eyes contained endless wisdom as if she had lived for millions of years.

"Why are you hiding yourself? I won't complain about you." The girl playfully smiled and told Linling.

The next moment, Linling's body went out of her control, and she stood up.

In the store, Gerling hurriedly closed his eyes, seeing the offensive postures made by Linling. He decided to delete this memory immediately.

"Why do you hide such a nice body?" The girl complained and played with Linling's chest.

Linking's expression didn't look good at all. She was disgusted with the current situation. If her body wasn't out of control, she would have slapped the young girl to her death.

The young girl also stopped playing, and her expression immediately turned cold.

"Do you know what the conditions are for a world to get upgraded?"

The young girl's voice seemed to have turned electronic, and Linling couldn't help but feel a chill crawling down her spine.

She couldn't help but curse in her heart. She was more willing to let the young girl play with her body than be in that situation where she felt that even a small wrong move would result in her death.
