Chapter 89. New technique
Chapter 89. New technique
Rei sat down on the bar counter as he watched Escanor and Galand fight with Jericho and Gerheade.
Rei was able to see the shockwaves travel through the air as he had a sudden burst of inspiration.
'The shockwaves travel through the entire area without it being hindered by anything. It goes through even the particles in the walls.' Rei thought as he delve deeper in to his thoughts.
Snapping his fingers, Rei enhanced his eye sight as much as he could and barely saw the particles shift as they carried the sound.
'Then if I used the wave as a catalyst and synchronised a sword slash to it then....' Rei thought as he summoned a katana in his hands surprising everyone on the scene from the appearance of a sword out of no where.
Flicking the blade of the sword, Rei saw it vibrate as the sword was duplicated slightly as it travels. Rei's eyes lit up as he started to formulate a new technique within his mind. Ignoring everything around him, Rei started to create sounds with the sword on different sections of the blade.
Rei then put a seal on the sword to amplify it's rate of vibration and sound. Flicking it slightly, Rei could see how the waves have surpassed the normal speed of sound as it travelled across the whole room.
'If I'm able to complete this, I should be able to hit my enemies beyond the absolute limits of my body without any side effects.' Rei thought as he started to combine different seals and methods together to accomplish this.
Melascula wanted to interfere with what ever Rei was doing but felt as if she was being pointed but a sword that could end her at any moment. This feeling was getting stronger every second while Melascula was getting paler as seconds passed.
As Rei continued to experiment, he didn't notice that Galand had already been turned to stone and that Melascule was about to try eat Escanor's soul.
Rei suddenly stood up as his grin grew wider. With the seals he made on the katana, Rei had made a brand new noble phantasm that was suited towards this technique he had just created. The katana was able to amplify the speed of which the sound/slash travelled at and the stronger he got the faster it was. Rei theorized that at the peak, this technique would slash faster than the speed of light and start to distort reality. It wasn't like the Gae Bolg which changed the cause and effect but rather when combined with different laws and concepts could potentially effect the object/person before the universe even registered the attack. Such an technique would be devastating in a fight. Being able to kill a person before the universe even recognised it. Rei started to fall back into old habits, smiling with bloodlust when he imagined how the fight could have gone against Alaya and Gaia if he had this technique. Even during a fight, as long as the swords collided, the technique would allow him to create attacks everywhere meaning the person had to defend against a slash from every particle in the area which if done correctly even a divine level entity can't block.
Rei held his katana as he turned around to look at Galand in front of him and brought his katana black slightly. Rei then gave the blade a gentle flick. Before anyone could realise what had just happened, the stone statue of Galand was already erased from its location. Slash marks could be seen densely gathered around the area.
The only downside to this ability was the fact that the technique has rediculously stringent requirements to be used at it's fullest. Not only does one need to understand several different laws to concepts, they also needed a inhuman amount of control and energy reserves. Rei was only able to recreate a weaker version of his technique through using seals but the energy taken by this was unbelievable.Without the concept of seals, Rei, the maker of this technique, wouldn't have been able to use it. At the current level, the attack was only a few times faster than sound. To increase this, Rei would need the law of seals and law of atoms with the addition of even more energy reserves as the stronger it gets the more energy it takes.
Looking at the sword Rei realised that he would be able to use the technique with Tengoku.
"I shall name this technique -Instance-." Rei said lightly. He named it Instance due to the fact that the instant he touches the sword, the enemy would have already been slashed by the particles around them.
[Congratulations host for creating the passive -Instance-
Grade : Divine/God
Host has gained rewards for creating a personal Divine/God rank skill.
"Rewards"
Comprehension increase : Concept of seals 68% --> 98%.
Acquired : Concept of particles/atoms, concept of sound.
Would host like to add skill to shop catalogue?
"yes""no"]
Rei looked at the system message in slight confusion.
'What do you mean add to shop catalogue?' Rei asked in his mind.
[This places your self created skill in the system shop so other people may gain access to the skill.]
'Wait other people uses the system shop?' Rei asked slightly shocked.
[Certain people in the higher realms are granted skills from the shop as rewards for tournaments and events hosted by the system god. Only skills below sovereign are sold while some important people are allowed access to the Ascendant rank skills. But having the skill and being able to use it are two separate cases which is why the people in higher realms derive techniques from these skills and pass them on. You are the only exception from this rule.] The system replied giving Rei more information on the higher realms.
'That means people in the higher realms are not able to use the system too. So why am I the only exception...'
Rei was cut out of his thoughts when he heard Melascula scream out in pain due to Escanor burning her entire body with his magic.
Rei saw that Melascula was still alive seeing that half of her hearts were still there and decided to finish the job. Snapping his fingers, Rei used a very toned down version of Instance to destroy the rest of Melascula's hearts. She died the moment Rei used Instance with no visable damage on the surface of her body.
