The Devil's Sweetheart

As Leena walked into the office, her mood dampened to watch the number of people sitting in the reception waiting for their training. Without going into her office, Leena directly barged into Reese's room. ''I told not to accept any more clients. Don't you know we only train celebrities in Bliss?''

''Inform the same thing to your mom! The people sitting over the reception are all from Langone hospital.'' Reese freaked out. ''My head is aching to manage this sudden load. If the trend continues, we need to hire the trainers in bulk, and also an 'additional executive assistant'.'' Reese pressed in such a manner that Leena would take a hint.

''What's my calendar schedule today? I will visit the hospital.'' Leena slumped on the bed holding her head in distress. It's been a week since Heather started working in the hospital, and from then on Bliss is filled with the doctors, nurses, and people connected to Langone hospitals. ''Did mom think I am in short of money, Reese?''

''Go and ask yourself.'' Reese snickered. ''You are free after four O clock,''

''Alright.'' Leena was about to go out of the room, Reese halted her.

''Did you meet the person who saved you on that night?'' In the morning, Leena texted Jane and Reese about meeting her savior today, and since then Reese was waiting for the gossip.

''Ah! I forgot to tell you about it.'' Leena rushed towards Reese and spoke up. ''Do you remember the friend I talked about when we were studying in Seattle?''

''Your mysterious nameless friend?'' Reese questioned, propping her elbows on the table.

''Yes, and he is my savior,'' Leena beamed clapping her hands in elation.

''What!'' Reese exclaimed in disbelief. ''But how did he know that you were on the cliff?''

Leena then explained everything that happened in Enger's home to Reese.

''He seems to be a nice person, Leena.'' Imagining Devin's face frying out of jealousy, Reese internally giggled.

''I guess so.'' Leena nodded her head in consent. She thought Enger will ask for compensation seeing his living condition was, but he didnot. He was genuinely concerned over her.

''How does he look? Is he handsome?'' Eagerly Reese asked.

Putting an index finger on her pout lips, Leena pondered giving a thought over his image. ''Not bad, maybe I can give a nine score.''

''Out of 10?''

''Out of 100.'' Leena retorted as she rose from the chair.

Reese: '' ''

As expected, no one can get a passing score in Leena's eyes. Reese will not be wondered if Leena gives a below-average score to Devin.

After finishing her afternoon scheduled session, Leena and Nick drove to Langone hospital. While Leena was searching for the cardio department, she suddenly found a familiar face at a distance speaking with a patient. 

''Can you go into mom's cabin, Nick? I will come in a while,'' Leena stated.

''Fine. Don't get lost.''

''I am not a kid.'' Replying, Leena walked towards the woman and waited until the patient left. ''Hey, lost buddy! Long time no see.''

The woman instantly lifted her head, a shock filled over her face. ''Leena!'' 

''How are you, Kyle.''

''I am good, How are you?'' Kyle was thrilled to see Leena after a long time.

 ''You never told me you were a doctor,'' Leena asked.

"Well, you never asked me.'' While they were in Seattle, both were cats and dogs until the incident happened with Trent. Although Kyle hated Leena, she helped her erasing the video from Trent's hold. She doesn't want to remember that memory anymore.

''Because you never gave the chance to ask.'' Leena shrugged her shoulders shifting the blame on Kyle.

Ignoring Leena's complaints, Kyle asked. ''Why did you come here? Appointment?''

''My mom works here as a doctor. I am here to meet her.'' Leena stated. She could have gone home to reprimand her mom, but her patience has reached the limits today seeing the herd in her office.

''Your mom is a doctor here? What's her name?'' Kyle questioned.

''Heather.''

''What! Doctor Heather is your mom?'' Kyle burst out.

''Yes. Do you know her?'' Curiously Leena asked. 

''Of course! I do. I studied in the same medical university. Although two decades have passed, Doctor Heather's achievements are impeccable. She is my idol inspiration.'' Kyle said, with delight, and her happiness knew no bounds seeing Heather here.

''Ah! My mom is fabulous.'' Leena brimmed in happiness feeling proud of her mother's achievements. ''Fine then! I will go and_''

''Dr. Kyle, we need your presence here.'' One of the nurses shouted breaking Leena's thoughts.

''Go and look over the patient, Kyle. I will go and meet my mom.'' Just when Leena was about to leave, Kyle held her hand. ''Give me your number. I will call later. We can catch up if you are still in the hospital by the time, I finish my rounds.''

Both exchange the numbers and then Leena stormed out of the place to deal with her mom.

In a brightly lit cabin, Nick and Heather were cackling talking about random stuff when the door was pushed open, the furious Leena barked in. ''Mom, do you know what you have done today?''

''Leena! I was waiting for you.'' Heather waved at Leena fervently.

''Didn't I tell you not to send your patients and colleagues to my office?'' Leena yelled at her mom. Her energy seems to be drained out already, she picked an apple from the basket.

Heather rose from her seat and marched towards Leena. ''I am making you earn more money, Leena baby.'' Massaging Leena's tensed muscles on her forehead, Heather hugged her daughter. ''Now, now, don't cry. I know you are not happy with the headcount. Next week, I will aim higher.'' Heather teased causing a cry from Leena. Nick burst out into laughter.

Since Heather has finished a long surgery in the morning, she got free time to chat with Leena and Nick. Just when they were seriously talking about an intrigued horror story, Leena received a message from Kyle. [I am free for the next one hour. If you are still in the hospital, come and meet me on the hospital lawn. You can ask the hospital staff for directions.]

''I have a friend working here, mom. Is it fine if I go and talk with her?'' Leena asked.

''Go and have fun,'' Heather added. ''Nick will accompany me.''

'Both are insane, at least the mom is a little better than the daughter.' Nick internally muttered.

Leena walked into the hospital lawn and called Kyle when she couldn't spot her in the crowd. Following Kyle's directions, Leena reached over to Kyle and settled on the other end of the bench.

''When did you get married?'' Handing an orange juice, Kyle looked past the wedding ring on Leena's finger.

''A month ago. We haven't yet held the wedding ceremony.'' Leena replied grazing her fingers over the ring remembering the day Devin has put on her.

''Congratulations.'' Kyle was genuinely was happy for Leena. Although her heart was pained to see her first love with some other woman, it didnot seem to affect her as in the past. She was finding it a good sign.

 ''Thank you, Kyle.'' Leena smiled, and glanced at her face ''Are you upset?'' She knew Kyle holds feelings for Devin, but nothing can be done. Feelings should be mutual, otherwise, one has to get hurt in the process.

''Detective Sherlock holmes, you can trust me hundred percent on this.'' Kyle shuddered at the memory of a press meet where Leena gave a tight face slap to that woman. Infact, Kyle long understood Devin will not return her feelings. She accepted the fact. She wondered if she can ever get someone who can shower love on her or accept her ill-fate. Little did she know, her ill-fate was going to change soon.

''Alright, Alright! I believe in you.'' Leena patted Kyle's shoulders. Both talked about cool stuff and their interests. Leena was finding Kyle's character pleased, the more she talked with her. She was planning to call Kyle for lunch to introduce Jane and Reese to her.

Just when they were lost in talking interesting stuff, Kyle's phone buzzed. She instantly rejected seeing the contact name. Not before they resumed their talks, Kyle's phone ringed again.

Curiosity killed the cat. Like a bolt, Leena peeked into Kyle's mobile before she rejected. ''Landon.. is he your boyfriend?''

''No.'' Kyle denied spontaneously. ''H_e is just a friend.''

''Then why did you reject the call?'' With a mischievous glint, Leena pestered. ''Something fishy!''

''I_I nothing! It's because I am talking to you. So, I rejected his call.'' Kyle smoothly lied.

''You could have texted him if you are busy.'' Leena didnot leave her. ''You know, I can throw some advice. I am an experienced love advisor'' Proudly, Leena barged pulling Francis and Reese into her list, although she did nothing for them.

Pursing her lips, Kyle thought for a while. She has no genuine friends, and she needs a little advice to push herself. ''His name is Landon Derwin. I met him at a medical presentation. A week back, he proposed, but I haven't replied to him yet. He is waiting for my answer."

''And you are avoiding his calls,'' Leena yawned listening to this push and pull stories. ''Landon Derwin! What does he do?''

''He is the CEO of Leius pharma labs..'' Kyle said.
