The Devil's Sweetheart

Francis was glad that Leena is in safe hands now. He infringed the scandal after seeing the press conference and also when Devin has come transparent, announcing his relationship with Leena to the entire world. All in all, only he can curb that nefarious crazy idiot. He has already gone insane and now it's time for him to face.

Francis looked around the house and did not find the person he wanted to see. He has come here to talk with him. "Where is Devin?" He asked.

"He got an urgent call. So, he must be out to take it." Having said that, Leena rushed into the kitchen and brought water for Francis assuming that he would be thirsty after driving for a long time.

Despite he wasn't thirsty, With a smile, he picked up the bottle from her hands patting Leena's head. She might be stubborn, messy and a brat at times but in his eyes, Leena is the definition of perfection and beauty. The little angel has turned into a beautiful princess in front of his eyes. What more he can ask? Without asking, God has sent a precious treasure and asked him to look after her and he gladly accepted this jewel.

After he drank, Leena grabbed the bottle from his hand and went in to put it in the kitchen although the maids insisted on taking it. If it comes to Francis, she likes to do everything on her own. Their sweet and warm gestures did not go unnoticed by everyone present in the hall. Indeed, a girl will always put color to the home.

"Francis bro, finally you have arrived after a long time?" All excited, Callison stepped down the stairs seeing Francis.

"I last visited a month back only, Call. Do you need to feel that excited?" He slumped on the sofa. "By the way, Leena is a fan of your food and she loves your recipe, spanakopita. Make it when you are free."

"No recommendations, bro. If she wants, she should be the one to come and ask me. I am a renowned chef after all." Leena has only talked with him once in the morning. Just because, he is not crazy like his annoying father-in-law and irking brother-in-law, she has to deter him? Callison and Sharon felt like a breath of fresh air seeing her and her presence reminded them of someone they have buried deep inside their memories.

"Do you think I can't make it for my baby?" Francis jeopardized.

"Best of luck then," Callison grinned leaving the place to poke Leena now that he go to know she is a fan of his food.

While Francis and Fredrick were conversing, Arthur was cast out alone. He wanted to call Leena but she was stuck with his son-in-law. If he calls Adney, he would speak about those skeletal ghosts and monsters which he doesn't want to hear. It irked him more when his son was having fun with his best friend and he couldn't stop complaining. "Hey Francy, what is that old monkey doing sitting in the home?"

"What else? Pretending to be a busy person," Wearing sheet masks, showing off dresses and in between, he gets frightened when she squeals like a teenager while watching those girly Korean dramas. She is not acting according to her age nowadays.

"Tell her that even if she hits all the gyms and saloons, she can never beat me in glamour." Arthur boasted of him just like Leena.

"Another narcissist added to the list," Francis whispered under his breath shaking his head.

After a long stretch of his call, Devin stepped from the stairs, and seeing Francis here, he frowned. He must have come to steal my sweetheart again. From her childhood, he doubted there was at least one man soul near Leena due to his possessiveness.

Francis looked up and immediately made a private gesture to him. Devin did not need to be told twice and understood Francis want to speak with him in private. He took a peek at Leena, she was in the kitchen with uncle Callison chatting with him, while making the dough. She must be learning a new dish to make for me. The thought itself put a smile on his face.

With a happy smile, he strolled following Francis's footsteps and halted when they reached the garden. Francis scanned the surroundings and he could see, not a single soul was wandering.

"Don't perturb. The place is safe." Devin added. They have come far away from home where none of the family members could see them or hear them. "What is it, France?"

"I heard the tender of Pluton project which the Davies are trying to occupy was seized by you at the last minute," Francis asked. It seems he knows a little about Leena's past. He wondered what would be the predicament if Devin fully knows about her past.

"How do you know about it?" Devin chuckled. No one knew that the massive Pluton project was confiscated by him. It's hard to trace the whereabouts unless the person has strong connections. While he knew his dad and Francis are dominant figures in society, he was amazed at how Francis is keeping a taboo on him.

"I have my ways, boy," Francis said. Indeed he wanted to take revenge on Ethan for tormenting her in the past but Leena didn't want anything to do with him. She wants to live a happy life after the accident with no dramas in her life.

"He has to pay the price for what he has done to her," Devin added, with hesitation, he spoke again. "Did she suffer a lot?" He never dared to ask about her pain afraid that he would unknowingly trigger unwanted memories and that's the reason he is patiently waiting for her to tell the truth.

"It was a miracle that she survived in that accident." Those words were enough for Devin to understand how much Leena has suffered. Francis would have been lifeless if something happened to Leena.

"Keep her safe, Devin."

"I will, France." He has already made an unbreakable vow to her and he would never break it. Her pain is his pain. "Is that why you called me here?"

"No. There is more. Make yourself free and come home soon. I need to talk about something important with you in private." Francis said. It's time for Devin to know the truth about that anonymous person. "Don't bring Leena with you and don't tell anything to her. It's only you and me."

"Is it pertained to her?" Devin inquired with impatience. There seems to be a hidden meaning behind Francis's words. Did something else happen to her which she is not aware of it?

"Indeed, it's related to her." Francis's face went blank when he spoke.. Before the calamity strikes, he has to safeguard her and he can't protect her alone this time knowing that the opponent is not easy to trifle with when he is just waiting for the time to strike.
