Chapter 431 - Old Man In Tears
Chapter 431: Old Man In Tears
Walker House, Capital.
Lisa looked at her Grandfather's face and froze for a second. It was her first time seeing him like that. Something terrible must have happened for him to be looking like that.
"What's wrong Grandpa?" Lisa asked in concern.
The old man didn't reply but continued to look at her with hollow eyes.
Lisa felt a chilling climbing up her spine. She wanted to run out of here. The old man was definitely angry at her.
"I am the one who should be asking that question to you! What's wrong with you, my child?!"
The old man sighed. His anger turned into helplessness as he looked at the clueless Lisa.
"Your mother will be really disappointed at us for failing to raise you properly…."
"Grandpa, why are you saying something like that? What did I do?" Lisa asked with a worried look. She felt she was being wrongly blamed here.
"Take a look!" The old man threw an envelope.
Lisa caught it and the contents of the envelope shocked her.
There were pictures of her and her friends from earlier. They were being spied on. But that wasn't the main problem.
A few pictures belonging to Max and Elly were quite controversial.
There was a picture of them when they had fallen asleep. They were snuggling with theirs arms linked together.
Even though the theatre was dark, the pictures were still clear enough to make out Max and Elly's faces.
But they had told her that they had fallen asleep and the picture now proved that. They might have snuggled together in sleep. It was possible.
"Grandpa!! You spied on us!!" Lisa was upset. She just couldn't believe it.
"Stupid girl, that's your main concern at this moment?" The old man was completely dumbfounded by her words.
Lisa suddenly realised why her grandpa was so angry and hurriedly tried to assure him, "Grandpa, you don't need to worry. There is nothing like that between them…"
"Does it matter? Young people make mistakes and you did too?"
"Grandpa!!" Lisa's face turned red on hearing him. The misunderstanding was still not cleared. And it was pointless to talk to him as the old man wasn't willing to believe them anymore.
"There won't be any mistake….they are not like that…" Lisa shook her head in denial. Elly was no different than plants in her eyes. Someone who didn't care about her surroundings.
Well her friends were exception but it actually took a long time to reach that point.
"How can you be so confident that there won't be any problems? Your mother was a demon who kept your frivolous father in control, but now look at you…" the old man sighed in disappointment.
"Why did you let him go with someone else? Not to mention, I only asked you take him with you….did you really need to bring all of your friends along?" The old man asked with a frown.
Lisa opened her mouth but couldn't think of any answer.
"Are you going to tell me or not?" The old man's expression turned even grimmer.
"Don't tell me you want your friend to hook up with him?" The old man said with a sarcastic tone.
But….
"N-No...definitely not...w-why will I do something….like that…''
The old man felt that he had been struck by thunder. He knew Lisa very well, he could tell whether she was being truthful or not. After all, Lisa never lied to her grandfather. So it was very difficult for her to lie without a guilty heart since the old man had been the one who had loved her the most.
Last time when there was the misunderstanding, he believed Lisa's words because there were no signs of any lie in her words.
But right now at this moment….
Lisa was clearly flustered and was avoiding his eyes.
"Grandpa! Why are you crying?'' Lisa was shocked when she suddenly realised that the old man had broken into tears.
She rushed up to him but it was no use. The old man had been thoroughly defeated. Today he had realised that his era was truly over. His common sense could no longer keep up with the younger ones.
"It isn't your fault my child...only if your mother or Grandmother were here…" the old man shook his head. He was still blaming himself for Lisa's state.
"Grandpa you don't need to worry about anything. I will take care of him..." Lisa couldn't look at her grandpa's miserable sight anymore.
The old man took a deep breath and finally came to a decision. It was her own granddaughter who was being unreasonable, he couldn't push any blame on Max.
He even felt that Max was pitiful for being matched with Lisa but he can't just let a good guy like him leave Lisa's side.
Lisa didn't have any idea that her image had hit rock bottom in her grandpa's mind while Max was slowly being transformed into an ideal figure.
It wasn't that Max had done anything to improve his image. It was just that Lisa had fallen low in comparison to Max making Max look like a much better person in the old man's eyes.
"Fine, just go and don't leave his side…don't you dare to return leaving him alone in such a situation..." the old man said with a serious tone.
"What?!" Lisa was suddenly shocked by his declaration.
She was being kicked out of her own house?
….
In the end, Lisa had to leave. Her Grandpa wasn't in the right state to reason with.
After Lisa left, the old man suddenly stood up.
"I heard that Lord Lorenz will personally attend the Celebration tomorrow?" The old man asked.
A person dressed in the uniform of a butler suddenly appeared by his side.
"Yes, my Lord…he has just arrived in the capital….it seems he is here on some business matter..." the butler replied.
The old man shook his head. They were good friends and he knew that the old man had come to meet Max. After all, it was he himself who had recommended Max to be a tutor for Lorenz Lord's child.
As for the business issue, that was just a camouflage.
But who would have thought that the Lorenz Lord's granddaughter was planning to seduce his son in law...not to mention even Lisa, her own granddaughter, was backing her.
"I need to have a talk with that old guy…" the old man said as he took his coat and walked out of the room.
