Chapter 168 - Magical Contract
"Did you mishear what I just said?" I asked as I smirked toward the Emperor with swords all around my neck. "You must know that those pathetic assassins can't deal with me, right?"
The Emperor stayed silent as he hadn't thought that the conversation would have headed in such a way.
"I know…still, I can't give you that video. However, I promise to never release it as long as you don't go against humanity."
"I don't trust your words."
Did he think that I was so stupid as to accept such words that held no meaning to me?
He truly thought of me as a complete fool, but new flash, I wasn't a fool.
"That's why I have a magical contract for both you and me to sign."
The Emperor pulled out a piece of paper on which a bunch of things were written that I couldn't read from where I was standing.
"Give that to me."
I placed my hand forward, waiting for him to give me that contract. After all, if it really was just like he had said. Then, I didn't mind signing it since I would never betray humanity anyway. However, I didn't want to sign some kind of trap contract.
I started reading it, and after a few minutes, I was done with it, and the Emperor had not lied. It was truly like he had said. If I turned my back on humanity, then he would be able to reveal the video for everyone to see. But even if I did, at that point, it would be too late to do anything else.
"Alright, I accept. I'll sign that contract of yours. But tell your slaves to back off."
"Leave us alone."
Then they tried to hide again, thinking that I couldn't feel their presence.
"He said to leave. Not to hide again like some cockroaches. If you don't leave, then I will every single one of you."
However, even as I said, they still haven't moved. They weren't listening to my words. That's why I looked over to the Emperor with a knowing smile.
He knew that I wasn't joking. That was exactly what I would be doing if they didn't leave in the next five seconds.
"5…4…3…"
"All of you leave."
Right as he uttered those words, they disappeared from the room, leaving only the two of us and that contract. I didn't waste any time and signed it right away.
"There you go. Happy?"
"Very."
Then, the Emperor sat back down again, and we talked about everything that had happened in the Snowy Mountains. I hadn't talked about everything in detail since I wanted to keep information for myself. But what we mainly talked about was Zero and the fact that there were other beings like him that were just as strong as him out there.
"Any clues on where they might be?" The Emperor asked, very interested in what I had just revealed. I could see from the look on his face that this was new information.
I hadn't mentioned that Zero was the son of the Demon King since I thought that it might make the Emperor panic. As much as he didn't want me to betray humanity, I wanted the same from him. I didn't know his real character, and there was a chance that he would break if he was intimate enough.
"He told me that there were some everywhere. There should be at least someone who is strength in each of the kingdoms. Humans, Elves, Dwarves, everywhere. They are probably fairly high-ranked in all of those places."
Those were just assumptions that I had. But I was 99% sure that they were accurate. They were so strong that there was no doubt that they had reached the higher society in each of those places.
"Even here? Are you sure?" The Emperor didn't think that they had managed to become high-ranking officers in his own kingdom.
"Without a doubt. Someone has infiltrated this kingdom, and he's extremely strong without a doubt."
The Emperor stopped talking for a moment as he was most likely thinking of who it could be.
"Could you help me figure out who that person is?" He suddenly asked after a few moments. He didn't have a clear answer in his mind for sure.
"I could, and I will. But I have some things to do beforehand."
The Emperor wasn't following my train of thought. "Like what? What is it that takes you that much time?"
I just laughed. "You don't need to know." I released a sigh as I tried standing up again. "Anyway, I think we talked about everything that needed to be talked about. I'll be taking my leave now."
I stood up and headed out for the door as the Emperor quickly followed right behind me. However, as soon as we left the room, the two of us couldn't believe the scene before us.
The Empress and Amelia were laughing as they continued to chat with one another.
"Did he really do that?" The Empress asked as she kept laughing. "He really asked you to hug him longer to 'make sure' that it was the best one he ever had?"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"I swear! He really did… though, it did work on me," Amelia muttered, her face completely red.
It seemed they still hadn't noticed that we were watching them as they continued to talk about all kinds of embarrassing things about both me and the Emperor.
"Haha, James also did some embarrassing things trying to seduce me. After all, I always refused him at the beginning, no matter how much he tried to charm me with his influence and power…" The Empress laughed.
"Um, um." The Emperor coughed, catching both of their attentions.
Instantly, they closed their mouths.
"We finished our talk, and Caedrel is now leaving. You should probably head out with him." Read the latest on empire
"Already?" Amelia sighed. "Tsk, but I was having such a good time. Please, babe, can't we stay a bit longer? I want to continue talking with Laura!"
I looked over to the Emperor, and he shook his head.
"No, Amelia, we're leaving. I need to go and prepare for classes. After all, I'm still a professor, though I'm not a spy for the Emperor anymore."
What do you think?
