Chapter 124: Thunder Nukes!!!
A thoroughly electrified watermelon-sized dark blue metal ball with a black and brown hue was crackling with lightning.
The ball came at breakneck speed from the sky, at eight times the speed of sound, with aid from lightning attribute, and dropped onto a level 104 Star-Earth Frog, a tough monster that the duo discovered since they were finding the target to use their first ever combo skill.
As the ball dropped on the giant frog's head, it shaved away around 24% of the vitality of the frog at once before the orb shattered into tiny metal shards while also creating an electromagnetic field around the frog.
The countless tiny lightning-metal shards that formed when the ball shattered started spinning like a vortex with the influence of an electromagnetic field as their sharp molecular structure empowered by lightning pierced and slashed the frog monster, making it paralyzed, electrocuted, and bleed all over as it died in the next second.
Rin and Erix descended and looked at the scene of a small five-meter radius crater with the mangled and charred flesh of the monster with a thrill in their eyes. Even its beast core was cracked, and its energy was seeping out.
"Holy cow, we created one hell of a combo skill, Erix!" Rin was dumbfounded but in excitement!
"It's fucking op, alright," Erix muttered with shining eyes while nodding. "We went all out with this and used our newfound elemental mastery and magic formation knowledge to the max, so this much is expected."
"Right," Rin nodded while grinning. "Reaching the second realm in our affinity gave us such a massive boost."
"Yep," Erix nodded before looking at the moons in the sky. "It's almost eight. We should return and rest before our target comes."
They returned to the Inn to rest and slept with the satisfaction of creating a powerful combo skill.
The combo skill they created was an accumulation of all the magic foundation knowledge, mastery of their elements, and experience they got in real life and Limitless Plane.
So, they were delighted with this combo skill.
…
After a nap of one and a half an hour, Rin and Erix sat on the balcony of their room, waiting for their target.
Their eyes were looking at the mountain pass's large gate and people coming and going on the wide paved road.
"It's almost ten p.m.," Rin said while tapping her fingers on the chair's handrest. "They should be arriving anytime now."
"Yep. Let's go up and prepare the attacks," Erix nodded.
Both of them wore their armor sets and left the Inn.
Arriving six kilometers high in the sky, Erix and Rin stood on a metal platform.
Erix consumed 500 mana and created five watermelon-sized metal spheres of his custom-created unique Voltblast metal.
Rin also consumed five hundred mana to infuse her lighting formations in the spheres, transforming and empowering them.
[Combo Skill: Thunder Nuke]
_Type: Combo / Prepartion.
_Rank: Tier-3 — Damage: 5-star, Debuffs: 4-star.
_Requirement: Level 2 Lightning and Metal affinity.
_Cost: 200 mana total, 100 from each.
_Description of effect:
—>The warhead ball deals high-impact damage (increases with kinetic energy) and shatters into tiny metal-lightning shards upon impact while simultaneously creating an electric-magnetic field of a five-meter radius around the impact. The metal-lightning shards would deal sharp physical and lightning damage with a high chance of paralyzing targets if hit by multiple shards.
_Possible Debuffs: Bleed(damage), Electrocute(damage), and Paralyse(control).
This was the only skill that fully utilized the power they gained after reaching the second realm of Lightning and Metal affinity.
"Hehe…" Rin giggled with shining eyes as she looked at the Thunder Nukes. "I feel like using five of them is an overkill, but this will ensure the task is completed."
"Yep," Erix nodded and stretched a grin, "Now, you should go down and call me when the target arrives. I'll drop all five at once straight down on them from here."
Erix couldn't see from six kilometers of height, so Rin descended and sat down at a table on an open food court near the main road.
She ordered a juice and focused on the main road.
Fortunately, it wasn't long before a small commotion started because of a luxurious carriage.
No other vehicle or people were allowed to flock within ten meters of the carriage except for the four Noble-order powerhouses riding white horses with demonic horns as the carriage guards.
Rin took out her comm card and contacted Erix right when they arrived at the decided spot, which was ten meters after the carriage crossed the gate.
"Drop," Rin softly muttered, and Erix received her word.
Half a second later, one of those four Noble-order powerhouses suddenly stopped and looked up before his expression twisted, and his mana surged.
Right as he barely created a hasty Earth-type shield above, another half a second passed, and five glowing spheres suddenly fell from the sky, causing a loud blast.
*BOOOOM!…Chreee!!*
A vortex of countless metal shards raged within the electromagnetic formation, slashing and piercing the Noble-order powerhouse while the carriage was entirely turned into wreckage.
Erix and Rin got a notification of killing a level 98 Supra-order powerhouse, who was likely the son of the Vampire king.
The maelstrom of lightning-metal shards subsided after five seconds.
The four Noble-order powerhouses survived with severe injuries.
"Who the fuck was that?!"
"Show yourself!"
Two of them roared in the sky while the other two quickly blew away the wreckage of the carriage to find the young master they were supposed to protect.
Alas, all they found were pieces of burnt flesh and blood.
Rin stayed there and leisurely drank juice while Erix took pre-caution since he was in the sky and quickly went into the mountain range before descending somewhere in the periphery.
"Not bad."
Rin suddenly heard a voice and turned her head with a shocked expression as she saw a beautiful woman wearing a pristine white dress and hat sitting across her at the table.
'What the hell? I didn't even notice her presence until she spoke,' Rin genuinely felt cold sweat.
