Chapter 118: End of the Event, Task from the Dark Queen
'Five…'
'Four…'
Erix continued the countdown while feeling slight tremors in his body and rising internal nervousness amidst soul and consciousness trapped in a blank space.
'Two…'
'One…'
Like a dying man receiving his breath of life, Erix's senses returned to him at once, overwhelming him for a second as his silent space world suddenly crumbled.
Erix drilled out of the ground, scaring the fox girl as she jumped back with a startled yelp.
"You scared me! Hehe, but I knew there was someone underneath," the fox girl giggled.
Erix looked at her while dusting himself and said, "Hi. I don't want to fight you because I have a target to hunt. What about you?"
The fox girl's dark orange ears fluffed left and right a bit as she grinned. "You are handsome, so I'll spare you. Let's meet outside."
"My seeds are reserved for someone else," Erix wryly smiled. "Sorry."
"Hehehe~ " The fox girl's white face showed a rosy grin as she giggled. "It seems like we'll definitely meet again."
After saying that, she formed a fist before it was wrapped up in a dark orange flame and punched forward.
The projectile fist shot outward from her fist, zoomed past Erix as he stood still, and broke the wall cave wall several meters behind him.
As she dashed past Erix, their eyes met as the fox girl winked. "See you later."
Erix went towards the left wall with a small smile hanging on his lips. That fox girl was his type, but Rin had eternally occupied his heart. It was a law, a rule,…an everlasting fact that would never change.
As fate would have it, shortly after he broke a wall to his side and arrived in another cave, he saw the front of this new cave breaking with a crackle of lightning.
"Erix!"
Rin saw Erix, and her eyes sparkled. With a dash, she zoomed towards Erix and hugged him tightly.
"I knew you would survive," Rin kissed him and grinned. "Now, let's go and kill those two ducks."
Erix laughed.
"Ducks, clowns, gods, or devils, we'll kill them all as long as we are together."
Rin and Erix were in perfect sync and had a high battle spirit to hunt their prey.
…
Dark Queen Lilith sat at a table on her mansion's terrace and twirled a small lock of her silky hair while faintly smiling.
Two Hunter cards suddenly floated around her ears while her lips moved with a dangerous smile.
Within a minute, two additional people appeared on the terrace as they stood before Lilith, their expressions nervous.
"How many times must I tell not you interfere with my affairs?"
Dark Queen sharply smiled.
"Do you think you got too much authority just because I highly regard you two among the rest?"
"N-No…It's just, w-we thought that those two were not worthy of attending your ceremony," Spena stuttered.
"Indeed, my lady," Frandal unhurriedly said while bowing with one hand on his heart. "We do not feel the same respect we have for you in them."
Dark Queen Lilith softly sighed and shook her head, her eyes becoming teary.
"M-My lady," Spena wanted to speak but didn't know what to say.
"Why are you sorrowful, my lady?" Frandal asked, his voice laced with concern.
"It pains that you two have grown so much," Lilith said, graciously wiping the tear from her eye.
"I will miss you two."
Frandal and Spena felt tremors going through their body and soul before their confused eyes lost their light.
The blood in their entire body vanished somewhere before a blood-red cross-spike emerged from their bodies, piercing out of their mouths as they floated skewed on the crosses.
Lilith walked towards the crosses while an exquisite white crystal chalice appeared in her hand.
After a twirl of her index finger, both crosses spewed out a smooth stream of glowing red blood essence that gently poured into the crystal chalice.
"You two became overripe for your own good," Lilith sighed as she shook the chalice cup and took a sip.
A faint crimson glow exuded from her body as Lilith sighed.
"Too ripe."
Lilith sat back on her comfy chair as she took sips from the cup while looking at the gates of the Death Circus event in the sky.
After five minutes, colorful fireworks suddenly started crackling around the gate before large words appeared around it.
[Congratulations to the 75 winners!]
The gates opened, and everyone left the portal of the misty gate one by one.
Rin and Erix also emerged from the gate and immediately received a call.
Erix took out his comm card and talked with Dark Queen for a bit before he turned to Rin.
"She is calling us to the mansion's terrace," he said.
"Then let's go," Rin snorted. "We have nothing to fear as long as we don't attack her."
Shortly afterward, Rin and Erix were feeling internal shock as they arrived at the terrace and saw two dead bodies with large crosses piercing out from their mouth and the nether region as they floated skewed on the cross.
"It seems that the trouble these two put upon you two only served to make you stronger," Lilith chuckled upon seeing Rin and Erix.
Erix helplessly shrugged while smiling, "All are merely obstacles in our path to power. What can we do except destroy them to continue?"
"Well said," Lilith grinned and stood up from her chair. "I guess I should've spared these two to be your whetstones, but what's done is done. I have a small task for you, so go and complete it."
Rin and Erix raised their eyebrows in surprise.
It was the first time they were receiving a task from her. At the very least, they were curious about it.
"Go to the mountain pass of Star-Rain Mountain and wait for a luxurious carriage with a dual red fangs flag on it," Lilith said while walking towards Rin and Erix. "It will arrive tonight around ten."
"Your goal is to destroy that carriage without being discovered," Lilith smiled as she smilingly caressed Rin's cheek with her finger. "And your task is to kill a super-order person in the carriage."
"Remember, the carriage only has one person at supra-order; the others are Noble-order."
Erix and Rin frowned.
Seeing their expressions, Lilith chuckled, "Don't worry. If you can kill the supra-order person, it's fine. If you think you can't kill him while he is protected by two or more Noble-order powerhouses, then you can abort the task."
"But why?" Erix frowned. "We won't just complete any tasks blindly when it comes to dealing with strangers."
"That's right," Rin nodded. "We need to know why you want to kill him and who he is."
"He is the middle son of Vampire King Jarran from Core Domain," Lilith's smile became sharp as a slightly eerie aura oozed out of her as she moved from Rin to Erix and caressed her finger on his lips.
'Vampire king?' Erix narrowed his eyes.
'How strong is a vampire king anyway?' Rin mused.
"That trash vampire is coming here to woo me just because I owe his father a favor, haha…" Lilith laughed amusingly. "Utterly foolish."
"I want you two to kill him without being discovered. I feel like you two can do it," Lilith sharply grinned. "But do you two feel like you can do it?"
