Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

During dinner, Lin Shen kept thinking about how he could obtain the Fire Seed from the antler tip.

It was a war trophy that Mu had fought to the death for, and since it was Lin Shen's first time meeting him, it seemed somewhat inappropriate to ask for it outright.

"It looks like I'll just have to slowly look for an opportunity," Lin Shen reluctantly put the thought aside. Fortunately, he had just received two Base Mutation Eggs with Fire Seeds, and hadn't put them to use, so there was no rush.

Instructor Mu shared many stories about Lin Xiangdong's past at the training camp, which were somewhat different from the stories Lin Xiangdong had told Lin Shen himself.

Lin Xiangdong wasn't as invincible at the training camp as he claimed, and he almost never won when sparring with other trainees.

Instructor Mu said Lin Xiangdong used to have a nickname called "Hundred-Defeats Kid," which surprised Lin Shen greatly.

This differed vastly from the glorious history his fourth brother had recounted, almost as if they were two completely different people.

"Lin Shen, a person's achievements are only partly due to their physical talent; the key lies here," Mu pointed to his own heart and said, "There's an old saying that goes very well, 'As big as the heart is, as big as the stage will be.' Your fourth brother has a very big heart, so even though his starting point was low, among all the disciples I've taught, his future achievements will be the highest."

"Of course, while having a big heart is important, corresponding execution ability is also necessary. Daydreaming without taking action simply leads to oversized ambitions and undersized capabilities." Mu patted Lin Shen's shoulder and said, "First, lay a solid foundation. Tomorrow, go to the training camp, and I'll personally teach you."

"Okay, Instructor Mu, I'll listen to you." Lin Shen was truly moved. He didn't have much else going on, and he wasn't conveniently able to show his face around lately, so learning from Mu didn't seem like a bad idea.

"By the way, big sister, today I also saw Wan Nianbei." Lin Shen recounted his encounter with Wan Nianbei earlier that day.

"What are you, a green onion? The sky isn't going to fall on you, the youngest. Just hurry up and marry and have children. Xiaobai is also at the training camp, take care of her for me," Lin Miao pinched Lin Shen's cheek and said menacingly.

Lin Shen suddenly felt depressed, "I was wondering why my big sister agreed so quickly, and here I find you laying in wait for me."

Returning to his own room, Lin Shen took out the two Base Mutation Eggs, each containing a Fire Seed, and placed them beside himself, soon drifting off into sleep.

The next morning, upon waking up, the first thing Lin Shen did was to check the two Base Mutation Eggs beside him. Indeed, they did not disappoint him; the mosaics were gone, and he could now clearly see what they looked like.

"Failed Super-Base Evolutionary Seed - Plummet: Once activated, plummet from a high altitude, gaining speed increasingly and with ever-growing destructive power."

Upon reviewing the information about his new Fire Seed, Lin Shen's expression turned weird.

This Plummet ability reminded him of an anecdote he had read before.

There was a technical group, where one day someone posed a question: if a drop of water fell from a height of ten thousand meters, how fast would it be upon reaching the ground, what kind of destructive power would it possess, and how severe would the damage it causes to humans be.

The various tech gurus in the group discussed it from theoretical analyses and calculations based on various formulas, arguing over the potential might of this single drop of water and the extent to which it could injure a person.

Suddenly, a rookie who had just joined the group said: Haven't you ever been caught in the rain?

The once-lively group fell into a deathly silence; then, the rookie was kicked out of the chat.

The Plummet ability, like the various other Fire Seed powers before it, seemed just as unscientific.

"How am I supposed to use this ability anyway? Do I need to fall from a high place myself to make it work, or can I just drop something from up high to achieve the Plummet effect? If I have to plummet myself, this ability is rather useless; I certainly don't want to crash to my death," Lin Shen planned to find time to test this skill later.

"Failed Super-Base Evolutionary Seed - Floating On Water Skill: Once activated, run swiftly on the water's surface to walk on water without sinking."

The second Fire Seed ability filled Lin Shen with immense joy; for someone who couldn't swim, Floating On Water Skill was a godsend.

He would no longer have to fear falling into water; as long as he could run, even the deepest waters couldn't drown him.

Used in conjunction with Stairway to Heaven, even the ocean would be under his feet, no different from solid ground to him.

"I wonder if this skill will work over that fisherman's river," Lin Shen thought of the river mentioned by the fisherman.

Just as Lin Shen was pondering where to try out these two Fire Seed abilities, Lin Miao came over to wake him up, urging him to report to the training camp.

Lin Shen reluctantly filled out the registration form for the training camp, but upon reaching the location of the camp, he felt bewildered.

The Sea Corn Base's training camps were one after another, astonishingly numerous; he couldn't remember the name of Instructor Mu's training camp.

"It seems like Mu never mentioned the name of the training camp, right? Every time he talked about it, he only said 'training camp'..." Lin Shen thought hard, and indeed, it seemed that the name had never come up.

Thinking back on what his fourth brother told him about the training camp, it appeared that he too had only mentioned 'training camp' without giving a specific name.

Lin Shen had initially assumed there was only one training camp; he hadn't expected there to be so many.

"Since they never mentioned a name, Instructor Mu's training camp should be the most famous one," Lin Shen looked around, planning to ask someone for directions. Mu's reputation should be known, and asking around shouldn't be difficult.

But then he realized he didn't actually know Mu's full name.

"The name 'Instructor Mu' should be sufficient for someone to recognize him," Lin Shen thought as he observed the young people dressed in various training camp uniforms on the street. Suddenly, his eyes lit up when he spotted the three young girls he had encountered on the sandy field the day before.
