Chapter 179: Chapter 179: Double the Happiness
Tian Xin had long since spotted Lin Shen and the fisherman, but with Lin Shen's current Ultra-Burn Tribe attire and mount, he hadn't recognized him at all.
Recently, Tian Xin had been doing very well, robbing numerous humans entering the Realm King Planet and killing some Ultra-Burn Warriors, amassing a considerable fortune.
Perhaps because things had been going so smoothly for him lately, he had forgotten the lesson of being robbed by Lin Shen.
Seeing two humans by the river, he brazenly flew over to them.
Even though Lin Shen was dressed in the battle clothes and helmet of a legion commander and riding a Big Red Bull, Tian Xin didn't care and even mistook Lin Shen for an easy target.
"This guy is showing off again, looks like he's been having a good time recently!" Watching Tian Xin descend from the sky, white robe and charming smile, like an Angel descending from heaven to save the world, Lin Shen muttered to himself.
Tian Xin landed in front of Lin Shen, flashing a smile he believed could charm all beings, "Human, would you like to make friends with me?"
"Willing." Lin Shen nodded agreeably.
"As friends, we ought to share the good things, don't we? Take out everything you've got on you," Tian Xin said, still smiling.
"You're absolutely right, friends should share. What good things do you have in your bag? Take them out and let's see," Lin Shen replied with a smile.
Tian Xin, hearing Lin Shen's response, suddenly looked cold, and pulled out a Pet Launcher, aiming it at Lin Shen, "Friend, it seems you haven't grasped the situation."
Lin Shen recognized the Pet Launcher in his hand as an item of the Ultra-Burn Tribe, likely stolen.
"What situation?" Lin Shen asked knowingly.
"Sharing means you give me your stuff, and as a good friend, I'll spare your life," Tian Xin said with a cold face.
"And here I thought sharing between friends was mutual," Lin Shen sighed.
"Mutual sharing isn't as enjoyable as keeping it all to oneself. I like my happiness doubled," Tian Xin said with great delight. "Now, start sharing your stuff, and let's see what good things you've got on you."
"Makes sense," Lin Shen nodded, pulling out a Pet Launcher of his own, pointing it at Tian Xin, "Now that you mention it, I'm starting to like the idea of doubled happiness. Share your stuff with me."
"Haha, there really are greenhorns around? Haven't you heard of my reputation? Know about the Robbing Angel? If not, ask your fellow countryman," Tian Xin said with overflowing confidence, pointing at the still fishing fisherman.
"Friend, have you heard of the Robbing Angel?" Lin Shen turned and asked the fisherman.
"Never heard of it," the fisherman replied briskly.
This caused Tian Xin's face to instantly fall, and he said with a cold face, "There really are idiots who haven't even heard of my name. You're really asking for death. Well, don't blame me then."
With that, the very unhappy Tian Xin immediately pulled the trigger.
Although his Pet Launcher didn't have the firing speed of the Angel Revolver, it was still a good item with a firing speed of 40.
The moment his finger moved, Lin Shen, standing not far in front of him, immediately accelerated past 40 and dashed right up to Tian Xin.
"A mere human dares to lay hands on me," To Tian Xin, such speed was not particularly impressive; he directly drew a Red Crystal Short Blade from behind and, with faster speed, slashed toward Lin Shen's neck.
Lin Shen's steps shifted, evading with motions akin to a leisurely stroll in the Celestial Court, and he maneuvered to Tian Xin's left side.
Tian Xin was slightly startled by the peculiar movement technique; he immediately flapped his wings and rose into the sky.
The Celestial Race excelled in aerial combat, and ground combat was not their strength; naturally, they couldn't afford to be at a disadvantage.
Lin Shen immediately leaped into the air, following suit, but of course, he could not match Tian Xin's speed.
As Tian Xin saw Lin Shen's strength depleting and beginning to fall, he arrogantly shouted, "Idiot, fighting the Celestial Race in the air, is your head filled with water?"
During the taunt, Tian Xin executed a winged flip in mid-air, positioning himself behind Lin Shen, and his blade aimed for the back of Lin Shen's neck.
All of this was within Lin Shen's calculations; he was just about to use the Stairway to Heaven to give Tian Xin a big surprise when he suddenly noticed an almost invisible flash of crystal light streak across the sky.
The next second, Tian Xin, oblivious to what had happened, felt as if someone was forcefully pulling at the collar of his garment.
The pull was surprisingly strong, hurling Tian Xin sideways through the air.
Lin Shen landed on the ground and saw the fisherman had hooked Tian Xin's collar with his fishing hook, pulling him over.
Tian Xin was startled and, without seeing what it was, slashed his blade behind him.
His short blade struck the fishing line, as thin as a hair, and astonishingly failed to sever it.
The fishing line was tough enough, but Tian Xin's collar was not; it tore open a gap, freeing Tian Xin from the hook.
Tian Xin flapped his wings and flew back into the air, looking in the fisherman's direction.
With a fishing rod in hand, the fisherman tugging on the line said, "Sorry about that, I accidentally hooked you while casting my line."
"Accidentally?" The corner of Tian Xin's eye twitched; he didn't believe a word of the fisherman's nonsense and glared at him with fury as his crystal-based carapace slowly revealed itself, encasing his body and wings.
"Stupid fisherman, if I don't turn you into fish food today, I'll take your surname," Tian Xin said, transforming into a streak of light and shadows, diving towards the fisherman from the air.
"Don't get worked up, it's dangerous over here, you're better off not coming closer," the fisherman kindly warned.
Tian Xin paid him no heed, intending to fly past the fisherman while trying to slash his throat with his short blade.
Just as Tian Xin thought he was about to succeed, seeing no reaction from the fisherman, the latter suddenly sidestepped, causing Tian Xin's blade to swipe through empty air.
Tian Xin zoomed past the fisherman, ready to turn back and fight, only to suddenly feel a terrifying force from below, dragging his body down hard.
Frantically beating his wings, Tian Xin found that the pulling force was too strong, preventing him from soaring into the sky; his feet already touching the water's surface, wings flapping wildly, yet unable to fly high for the moment.
Lin Shen watched Tian Xin struggling on the water's surface, inwardly glad he hadn't attempted to jump directly over the river.
Even with Tian Xin's crystal base, he could barely resist the river's odd gravity; with his strength, had he jumped over, he likely would have been dragged into the river.
Not being a swimmer, falling into the river would most likely mean sinking breathlessly to the bottom, where an attack by a Base Variant Creature in such gravity would leave his chances of coping highly dubious.
This also gave Lin Shen a new appreciation for the fisherman's strength, which was stronger than he had imagined.
As Tian Xin desperately beat his wings, his body slowly rose; however, the river's surface suddenly exploded as a Dark Jade Dragon burst from the water, its jaws opening to bite Tian Xin.
Tian Xin's face paled; all his strength was focused on beating his wings to ascend, leaving him no energy to deal with the Dark Jade Dragon.
