Stuck As A Dungeon Mob

Chapter 83

Spells. How did they come about? Their origins are mostly unknown since the technology at those times was fairly subpar but as time progressed it became a well-known fact among the populace that the originators of new spells are the upper echelon of civilizations as well as organizations with a deep history.

The Galeburst dynasty had its foundations on the element of wind. Their mastery over it was second to none in the entire continent.

Augustus' special Magic Vortex was already a variation from the regular Vortex spell which wasn't able to return back magic attacks. This variation was unique to the Galeburst Dynasty and was one of the reasons why Eon managed to deduce his identity.

But that wasn't all he was capable of. How could Augustus, a ruler of the dynasty, not know any powerful and unique wind-based attacks then?

He couldn't.

"I had to adjust this one to work with my swordsmanship, let's see how well I can pull it off right now" Augustus' cocky words put many of the adventurers on full alert.

Samuel and Drake who had been blasted away were apprehensive of the situation and both instantly rushed towards Augustus.

It was impossible to cast a powerful spell while under attack since the long chants would usually leave one open to attacks. Although casting spells via swordsmanship usually relied on motions rather than chants, or even a mix of both, the concept was the same.

Samuel's sword glowed a blue light, he quickly performed a sharp vertical swing. A powerful wave headed towards Augustus which Samuel hoped could prevent Augustus from performing any motions or chants while he and Drake quickly closed the distance.

But things don't always work out.

Augustus gathered strength in his legs and jumped up into the air before Samuel or Drake could even have a chance to hold him down. The wave simply passed underfoot not having any effect. Augustus' jump didn't seem to have a limit as he continued to reach higher heights, the high ceiling of the boss room was being put to good use.

But Augustus didn't perform such an exaggerated jump for such a half-assed wave, he spun and weaved his sword wildly in mid-air creating a dazzling sword dance. The wind around him moved in response to his movement making it much more spectacular.

Some of the adventurers couldn't help but be in awe while being well aware of the danger the move could bring them.

Drake however wasn't willing to give up so easily, nor was he willing to simply watch in awe. He knew how to infuse the fire elements into many of his moves, it was how he would pierce through hard materials with only his bare fists.

This application of mana could also be used on the legs it was just that he seldom use it. He was a person that believed only in his fists so he wasn't quite as skilled with his legs. But desperate times called for desperate measures.

Drake reinforced his legs with fire element mana, his feet turned hot and the floor underneath him was set ablaze. The vermillion flames exuded elegance with every step Drake took to gain forward momentum. With all the strength his legs could offer, Drake flew upwards with explosive speed.

He ignored his aching legs and simply glared at his target who was performing dazzling moves whilst falling towards the ground.

Augustus' movement had surrounded him by a dense and turbid wind which Drake simply glared at.

"Let's see how you like this" His fists were soon covered by blazing flames but upon coming into contact with the dense air it was as if they had been doused.

Drake's breathing became rough after entering the space and not only that but he suddenly felt his speed lower. Like a bird that had lost its wings, he plummeted towards the ground without elegance or dignity.

"F*ck!" Yelled drake after crashing into Samuel who was on the ground before glaring at the other adventurers," What are you all doing there anyway?!" His curses were cut short as Augustus' flashy movement finally stopped and he started to quickly descend.

The dense air that surrounded him became compressed to the size and shape of his blade allowing it to furiously shine a blinding green color.

Some of the magicians finally released their spells at this moment towards the falling Augustus.

A crimson red ball of smoldering fire flew with great speed towards him, a flurry of sharp earthen spikes, a shot of blue lightning snaked its way over, a gale storm relentlessly approached. Many of these spells flew towards Augustus who had only now gracefully landed on the ground.

"Exciting" Said Augustus crazily before swinging his blinding green blade horizontally.

A sharp blade of wind shot out from it and with relentless momentum made quick work of the various spells. Not only that but it showed no signs of stopping as it ruthlessly cut apart the very air surrounding it and any spells it came across.

It flew over the fallen Samuel and Drake but the other adventurers didn't look like they would be so lucky.

p At this moment, Eon who had a pale expression finally stepped forward.

"I am truly too old for this now" He let out a tired sigh. Why would he so suddenly look for disciples if not for the fact that the years had finally caught up to him?

He lifted his trusty staff and pointed it towards the rapidly approaching blade of wind, a small and black sphere appeared directly in front of it. Not only that but it seemed to slowly crawl forward.

"What the hell is that?!" Yelled out one of the warriors as he desperately brandished his blade. He was expecting Eon to help them but seeing such a pitiful display he could only hope that his own blade could protect him from the fierce attack that would fall upon him any second now.

Many others had similarly grim expressions seeing the spells small size and decided to bet on a powerful trinket, their trusty blade, or a priced robe, among other things to get them through this alive. Maybe it was just their natural response as adventurers to only trust themselves and maybe those of their regular parties in life or death situations that brought them this response.

Against all expectations though, once the small sphere which had barely even moved away from the group came into contact with the ferocious and sharp blade of wind it expanded ever so slightly as the wind completely disappeared!

The long green horizontal slash looked as if it had been sucked up by something once it came into contact with the sphere, the depthless blackhole.

Eon then let out a small cough and leaned on his staff for support,

"That's my life's work." He said sentimentally.

A unique spell. One of his own making. Eon finally felt like a pioneer in the field of magic. For years he dedicated himself to the study of space magic and his efforts finally born fruit. He managed to create an A-class worthy spell for any future space magicians, he now needed a worthy successor.

After sucking up the wind spell, the black hole continued to slowly float its way towards Augustus who was somewhat dumbfounded in the distance.

"Ha… Hahaha! Unexpected! So good! Even if I die during this battle I will be satisfied. How much can that thing take anyway?" Augustus was amused by the unexpectedly slow yet powerful spell. This amusement then changed to curiosity. Was there a limit? And what would happen if there was? Would it explode?

Augustus Galeburst, the mad king. He wasn't just a battle crazed lunatic. He was a lunatic.

Augustus did whatever a skeleton did when smiling, he continued to release a barrage of fierce slashes of wind towards the fumbling black sphere until his own spell was finally depleted.

"Does it not have an end?" Augustus asked to himself confusedly.

Eon who was leaning on his staff for support then fell to his knees. Apart from being slow and hard to cast the spell also drained mana from the user whenever it sucked anything in. Augustus' spells were particularly powerful so they took a large toll on Eon. The black hole spell clearly had its shortcomings but it was still a grand result for a unique creation.

Once Eon could no longer maintain the spell, the black hole rumbled slightly before imploding on itself. The black sphere quickly expanded before shrinking into nothingness. A large hole was gouged it on the ground near the adventurers making them break out into a cold sweat.

"Well, that explains it." Augustus said while giving off an eerie atmosphere. Maybe it was the weird skeletal grin that could be seen past his helmet. How was that even possible anyway?

Samuel and Drake finally stood up both very confused. Everything following Drake's crash simply happened too fast.

"I wonder how long you'll last without your crutch now though" Augustus said while looking at the collapsing Eon.

Samuel and Drake both felt a chill down their spines. Some of the other adventurers also gulped nervously.. Could they defeat that maniac? Does it even run out of mana? Some lamented to themselves.
