Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Speed is Key!
Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Speed is Key!
[3rd POV] [Later]
After getting to a rather ancient airbender sight where there was a ton of spiritual energy, the group was standing, as Jinora and Korra were in the spirit world. For Gwen had let this happen as well, entirely because she knew that Jinora needed this to truly connect with her spiritual side, a side that was important to her. And the spirit world was the only way for her to do so.
She wouldn't let things last as long as canon, and she wouldn't waste time. The second the news of what happened to Jinora gets to Pema from Tenzin, she planned on finally dealing with this. Unalaq would be geon from the world, Vaatu will be...dealt with in a special way, and the group would finally know of what she really is, or at least they'd finally see what she really is.
"She'll be okay, Tenzin" Gwen spoke abruptly with a soft look in her eyes. Knowing what was about to happen, and was was happening at the moment.
"Of course she will, Korra is with her" Tenzin said, causing Gwen to sigh, as Korra's eyes shot open with a gasp, as she began to pant. The toll of being pulled into the spirit world was...immense, even on her.
"Korra! What was it like? Did you manage to close the spirit portal? Was Jinora able to help you?" Tenzin said, only to stop when he saw the look on Korra's face. His heart dropped as he realized that something....something was horribly wrong.
"Tenzin I-I'm sorry" Korra whispered, trying not to break down crying as Gwen breathed in. Looking at Jinora, she felt the girl and how she was being trapped.
'Don't worry kid, you'll be out of there soon. Just once your mom learns of all of this' Gwen thought, as she decided she wouldn't be hiding for much longer. It was time to deal with Vaatu and the rest of the threats of this world, and it was time for her to return to her true form once more.
"Whe-Where's Jinora?" Tenzin asked, horror in his voice as he saw that his daughter was still meditating. But in actuality, her soul was trapped in the spirit realm. And should it not return in time, she was at risk of dying.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"W-why isn't she waking up? Korra! What happened to my little girl?" Tenzin asked, tears threatening to spill from both his and Korra's eyes, as horror entered Bumi and Kya's faces.
"She's trapped in the spirit realm" Gwen spoke, causing them all to turn to her. As they looked at her in shock.
"Wh-what?"
"Vaatu has her trapped there, or Unalaq at least. I can sense her Tenzin, she's alive, but just trapped. We can get her out, but we have to enter the spirit realm physically, through the Southern portal" Gwen explained as she crouched down to the girl. She was secretly boosting the girls life force so she'd live long enough for her soul to return.
"Once we get there I can help her, but we need to do this quickly, before Unalaq and Vaatu do any more damage. First we'll tell your wife, then we get to Republic City and get the others. That'll leave us enough time to get into the spirit realm and help your daughter" Gwen said, as they all looked at her.
"Ho-How do you know so much?" Tenzin asked, causing Gwen to softly smile.
"All will be revealed once we go to the spirit realm and face Vaatu. I promise. Now, let's get her onto the bison and get out of here, quickly, preferably" Gwen said as she stood back up, as the man let out a deep breath and nodded.
"I'm trusting you on this Gwen" Tenzin said with a nod as he picked Jinora up. He didn't know of anything else that could work, and Gwen hadn't been wrong once so far, not to mention she could actually see spirits unlike them.
'Hopefully getting that ship will be as easy as it was in canon'
Turns out getting the ship was as easy as it was in canon. In canon the group got it from Varrick and...they got it the same way once more.
After telling Pema of the situation and a rather...awkward moment, the group had left to republic city. And with Gwen's insistence, had completely ignored the idea of talking with the President, and instead grabbed Mako, Bolin, and Asami, before booking it out of there with Varrick's ship. All of this happened in like...less than a day.
Gwen didn't really pay attention to what happened to the trio while she was gone, as she was more focused on sending clones into the spirit world, so they'd be ready to free Jinora the second they could. While also meditating when she had the chance, as she knew she was getting closer and closer to finally breaking through whatever was locked away.
At the moment they (Gwen, Tenzin, Bolin, Mako, Asami, Bumi, Kya, and the girls) were all on the back of Tenzin's sky bison, on their way to where the southern troops were, or the injured ones at least. While Korra was on the back of Nala on ground.
Landing the bison, the group was met with Senna.
"Mom!" Korra cried out, happy to see her Mom again. It had been a while since she saw her last.
"I'm so happy you're here" Senna said, hugging her daughter.
"Where's dad?" Korra asked seriously.
"Unalaq wiped out the entire southern resistance and captured your father" At these words, Korra frowned deeply.
"I'll get him back" Korra promised, as the group walked up behind.
"Where's my mother?" Tenzin asked, holding Jinora in his hands, as she was still locked away
in the spirit realm.
"She's in the healing hut. So many are injured" Senna responded.
"I'll be back" Gwen said, causing them all to look at her in surprise.
"Where are you going?" Korra asked, causing Gwen to smirk.
"To...stake out the enemy camp. I'll see you in a couple of hours, I promise" Gwen said, causing the girls to all sigh, knowing she was about to do something ridiculous again. While
Korra just looked at her for a few moments and nodded.
"Okay, just...be careful, will you?" Korra asked softly, as Gwen just grinned.
"Oh definitely, careful is my middle name!"
"So...maybe I should have been a bit more careful" Gwen muttered, as she stared at the ruins of what was a camp full of Northern Troops, all meant to protect the southern spirit portal from anyone trying to enter.
Standing next to her was Tonraq who's jaw was dropped. On the ground was the unconscious Desna and Eska. Around the opening was unconscious and defeated soldiers. And there was not a single spirit in sight, for Gwen had purified all of the dark spirits in the area.
She cringed when the last structure in the area, a watchtower, crumbled to the ground with a loud *CRASH*.
"How did you...how did you do this?" Tonraq asked in shock as he held his side, wounds covering his form from the battle with his brother.
"I'm a master firebender and...the soldiers were kinda dumb" Gwen replied with a shrug, as they genuinely weren't the brightest. Not to mention most of them were...not even remotely skilled, and were pretty average.
Gwen stopped when she heard an incoming bison and plane. Looking up to the skies, Gwen smiled as they began to get closer to the ground.
'Looks like they're finally here...hopefully they won't be too mad'

That's the end of the chapter!
Sorry about the quality, but I've got some business to attend to that'll be taking the rest of my
day, so I sorta had to rush this chapter a bit. And I didn't want to miss a day (I'm on like a 75 day streak). Next chapter will be MUCH better quality, longer, and will be the long awaited meeting with Vaatu, reveals, Gwen finding out what it was that is locked away, and a ton of
other stuff.
She'll be in this world for 3 chapters more or so, and then off to the next!
Next chapter is nearly 3k words, and is probably one of the best I've made for this fic...I think.
It'll have some incredibly important moments. I might also be doing a double upload, so you might be seeing another chapter later!
Anyways, have a good day, sorry again for the quality!
