Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Santa Prisca…again

[3rd POV] [Santa Prisca]

Standing within an opening on Santa Prisca, was a tall, bald headed man, and a shorter woman in a suit.

Superbly stood across from them, a frown marring his face as he gazed at them. He had gotten to the island via his New Genesis Sphere, that allowed him to travel quite the ranges. Gwen was tempted to try and absorb the thing, but decided against angering the Gods of New Genesis. They were mostly stronger than her, and not something she had the power to contend against at the moment.

"Superboy, I do believe you know Mercy, and my little...friends. Sportsmaster, Blockbuster, and of course, the new Bane, who has allowed us to take use of Santa Prisca" Lex Luthor, the bald headed man said, a small smirk on his face, as some of his...allies revealed themselves. "So the Injustice League was just a distraction? You're the one truly behind everything?" Superboy asked, shocked as he looked around.

"A flattering notion, son. But we have many friends" Lex said with a small chuckle, as a helicopter flew overhead. Slowly is drifted to the ground, as Superboy watched.

As it landed, Superboy stopped and turned to Lex "Is this one of your friends now?"

"No, my boy. One of yours" Lex said, as he watched the door slowly open, revealing Artemis and Cheshire inside. Cheshire was flying the helicopter, while Artemis was at her side.

A soft gasp escaped Superboy "Artemis?" Artemis in response just gave a small smirk.

"The hero thing wasn't working out, you know how it is. No trust. This, is where I belong" Artemis said, a smile on her face. Albeit, an obviously fake one.

Within the shadows of the nearby forest, Gwen was waiting. 'Hmm, Bane, Blockbuster, and then Mercy are the only ones I need to really pay attention to. The team can take care of the rest of them. He seems a bit more Bane-like...best to get rid of him first'

This entire "meetup" was a ruse/trap, just as it was in canon. The only difference being, that Lex had zero ways of escaping. Magic marred the surrounding areas, making it next to impossible for him to get out of the island, courtesy of Gwen.

The rest of the team was waiting for Gwen's signal, knowing that she would take care of the heavy hitters, while they took care of the little ones, like Cheshire and Sportsmaster.

Watching as Lex Luthor eventually said the code word "Red Sun" which was meant to shut down Superboy, or...turned him off? A sort of hypnosis that made it impossible for him to attack, and a hypnosis that was destroyed and gotten rid of, by M'gann.

Smirking, Gwen breathed in deeply, and blurred. Using her maximum speed, she blurred and Bane's head flew, soon Mercy and Blockbusters joined him. Lex's eyes widened in horror as he registered what happened in seemingly an instant, as they team jumped out of the shadows and began to attack the grunts.

"What sort of person are you working with?!" Sportsmaster yelled at Artemis, who just rolled her eyes. The fact that Gwen just slaughtered three people in an instant, all of which were their heavy hitters at the moment, scared the hell out of the man.

"She's my girlfriend, jackass" Artemis said, as her fist slammed directly into her fathers face, knocking him out cold. Gwen couldn't help but crack a smile as she overheard this, happy that their relationship was completely confirmed.

Cheshire's eyes widened at the ease her little sister put their father out of commission. "Well...would you believe me if I said I was forced to be here?"

Artemis rolled her eyes at her sister "Just go, I'll let you go for one last time. But if I catch you doing anything like this again, I'll do a lot worse than just knock you out"

Cheshire looked to Artemis and then her father, before running off. Artemis sighed as her sister ran off...again. She loved her sister, but god did she get on her nerves sometimes.

At the same time, the rest of the team was rapidly beating up and knocking out the grunts. While Gwen was blurring toward Lex, before the man could even put up a fight. He was just a normal human with some genius intellect, but he was also incredibly arrogant, making him an easy to take down individual.

"Sorry not sorry, Luthor" Gwen said with a small smirk, before her hand grasped his face. And his eyes lost their normal shade, growing dull. The mind control instantly taking affect, through a mere touch.

"Hmm, now that that is done with, you guys need any help?" Gwen asked, looking back to the team, who was taking care of the last of the grunts. Their minds individually wiped by M'gann so that they wouldn't remember Gwen killing.

"We are done with them, for now..."

[Hidden Quest Complete!]

Luthor no more, Blockbuster more like Blockdusted, new Bane same deal.

Details - Defeat and subjugate Lex Luthor. Kill Blockbuster. Kill the new Bane.

Details - The Justice League is being mind controlled. Stop them, especially before they go off world and cause untold damage!

'...damn...just damn' Gwen thought, her eyes widening slightly in surprise. This quest was...difficult, but manageable. She was lucky in the fact that she knew the weaknesses of each member of the League, but she also had the detriment of the fact that a lot of them didn't have any blaring weakness she could use.

"You guys can go ahead and head back. I've got something I need to do" Gwen said with a smile, while Luthor was already leaving, having gotten his orders telepathically.

"Are you sure? We still have the League to deal with, don't we?" M'gann asked in slight confusion.

"Yep, I'm sure. I'll be back in a few hours, promise" Gwen said with a smile, trying to comfort

her girlfriend.

Sighing, Artemis walked forward and pecked her on the lips "Alright, but you better be

careful, with whatever you are doing"

"I will be, I promise" Gwen said with a smile, as Raven came to her and pecked her on the lips, with M'gann following soon after.

"""You better"""

The three of them knew Gwen enough, to know what she was probably going to go and do. They also trusted her enough, to know when and when not to take a fight like that. If Gwen wasn't so seemingly confident in her chances, then there was a much higher chance they would have stopped her before she even got a chance to leave.

Watching as the team slowly left, Gwen let out a chuckle.

'Time to fight the entire Justice League...this'll be fun'
