Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Qurac and Biayla I

[3rd POV] [A few days later, Mount Justice]

Some time had passed since Gwen's date with Artemis, and things were going well. The two had grown closer and closer over time, with M'gann supporting it the entire time. They had went out on another date during this time as well, this time they went to Rome.

During this time, Gwen had continued her development of the Super Soldier Serum II, aka the improved version. This version would increase the users physical and mental capabilities, without the drawback of also improving their negative sides (aka their emotions). She was pretty much done with the creation of it, and just needed to get the materials needed to give it out to the team, and then the League.

Her progress in finding out if aura was safe had gone well. She had already tested it on a few less than nice criminals, and as far as she could tell, it was completely safe. It was simply the alien members that she needed to be wary of, as she wasn't sure what effect it would have on them.

Besides developing Aura and the Super Soldier Serum II, she had continued to train M'gann in her abilities. With the Martian's rate of improvement increasing more and more, as she had been able to lift heavier and heavier objects, and use her telepathy at greater and greater lengths.

She had also continued to develop her force powers more and more. Continuing her daily meditation and practice in the power, continuing to develop her connection to the power more and more.

Currently, Gwen was in the mission room with the rest of the team after getting called there by Batman.

"Rumaan Harjavti is the democratic-elected president of Qurac. Harjavti has been praised as a fair, wise leader, a humanitarian" Batman started, showing a clip of Rumaan and Bruce shaking hands.

"Suuuure. Any friend of Bruce Wayne's" Wally said sarcastically.

"But five days ago Harjavti allied himself with the dictator of the neighboring nation of Bialya, Queen Bee" Batman continued.

"Huh! Not a fan" Superboy said with a huff of distrust.

"Few are. But Harjavti suddenly backs Queen Bee's faceless claim that Qurac and Bialya were one nation in Ancient Times and has announced that the countries will reunify in two days at a ceremony in Qurac" Batman said, before playing a clip of Harjavti revealing that he will step down as president, and Queen Bee will take his place.

"Looks like he's under control. Queen Bee's too far away, so that leaves...Psimon, right? He'd be the perfect person to have control the man" Gwen commented, knowing fully well that the man was indeed controlling him.

"That is the most probable case" Batman responded with a nod.

"The Qurac people are well aware of the brutality of the Queen Bee's regime. But due to Harjavti being under control, he has silenced all legitimate protests, the press, and even invited the Bialyan military into his country to enforce martial law" He continued.

"Robin is team leader" Bruce finished, looking to Dick.

"Wha-me? What about Aqualad? Or Gwen?"

"Aqualad is busy with Aquaman. And I doubt Gwen would want to be the leader of the group. Thus, you are the next logical choice"

Dick went silent at these words, while Wally huffed that Dick ignored his high five.

"A bit of magic should be more than enough to take care of the control that Harjavti has been put under" Raven commented, causing Gwen to nod along.

"Good, get going" Batman said with a nod.

'This is either going to be fun...or annoying as hell'

[3rd POV] [Skies above Quarci border]

Sitting within the bio-ship, Gwen looked down and took in the plains of Qurac. Where plenty of animals were grazing, and where the Biaylan military was soon going to enter from.

"We're right about the Quraci-Biaylan border" Dick commented.

"A border, the Biaylans are in the process of ignoring" Wally said, as the entire team watched as large Biaylan tanks trampled through the small "border" that was more like a fence, and began to enter Qurac territory.

The animals that were grazing began to flee from the large metal death machines.

"No opposition. Guess Harjavti really is being controlled by Psimon" Superboy said with a sigh.

"Wouldn't expect opposition here. It's an animal sanctuary" Dick said, reading through the small holographic screen that was giving him information on his current location.

"The Logan animal sanctuary?" M'gann asked in surprise. Gwen glanced at her girlfriend with a small sigh, knowing that M'gann was going to have a very very uncomfortable day today, as certain secrets would be revealed to her.

"Guys, the tanks have caused a stampede. With civilians in harms way" Wally said, his goggles on that allowed him to see farther than normal, as well as few other neat abilities. "I see them. Woman and a small boy" Superboy said, using his powerful eyesight.

"We have to help them!" M'gann exclaimed.

"We're way off mission here. Deploy, but in stealth mode. If the Biaylans know we hit em, this becomes an international incident" Robin said, causing the team to nod. Knowing that they couldn't let something like that happen.

Walking to the open hole in the floor, Gwen jumped out, landing softly on the ground below. The rest of the team soon followed, all of them being as ilent as possible. One of the tanks was quickly shot by the bio-ship, causing it to collide with the other one.

After the tanks collided, and the soldiers were occupied with trying to find what shot them, Dick threw one of his batarangs, as smoke poured out of it, distracting the soldiers enough so that Wally could zoom in, knocking three of the soldiers unconscious.

While that was happening, Superboy quickly jumped in front of the civilians, before stopping a charging animal and slamming it into the ground. Another animal that looked to be a Gizelle, ran at the sight of Superboy, directly into the stampede, only to be floated away by M'gann.

As the stampede passed, the team made themselves known. First was Robin and Wally, then Raven and Superboy.

Walking over to the downed animal, Gwen sighed and began to heal it. A simple spell was enough for it to get to it's feet. "Next time don't slam a scared animal into the ground,

Superboy" Gwen said as she watched the animal run off.

"Sorry" Superboy said to the woman who seemingly ran the animal sanctuary.

"M'gann, you can reveal yourself" Wally said, the nervous M'gann was still cloaked.

Uncloaking herself, M'gann stuttered "H-Hi"

"You may have made things worse. Biaylan border crossings are a way of life here. Usually they wreck a few fences and move on. Engaging them might have made us a target" The woman said. She looked eerily like an older version of M'gann's human form.

"Mom? Uncool!" Her son exclaimed.

The gizelle made a soft sound before walking past them, while the woman spoke "I'm sorry. I should thank you. This is my son, Garfield, I'm-" The woman was cut off as she moved closer

to the boy known as Garfield.

"Marie Logan!" M'gann said excitedly, causing Gwen to crack a small smile, finding her

reaction to be cute.

"I can't believe I'm actually meeting you in person! Uh, I've-I've, uh, admired your stance on animal rights for years" M'gann stuttered out, trying to make an excuse for her excitement.

"Nice save, love" Gwen whispered, causing M'gann to blush.

"Thank you for helping the wildebeest. But the Oryx is sick. I need to take it to my clinic" The woman said, but Gwen shook her head and walked forward.

"No need" Gwen said with a small smile, as a soft glow emanate from her hand, and traveled through Oryx, before stopping. It let out a soft sound of...happiness? As it nuzzled against her

hand.

"So...wanna see our house!?"

'That's definitely beast boy alright...'

form to Gwen (No it's not the same true form as in canon, aka the giant creature thing)
