Son, “Mom” Will Back You

Chapter 169

"––?"

Gu Nian paused.

Sloth Nian transformed right then and there. She turned around and said, "Do not curse my son. I would rather never be able to come into close contact with him again for the rest my life than his first show dying an instant death at launch."

Jiang Xiaoqing, "……"

Oh, such motherly love that could touch the sky and move the earth.

Jiang Xiaoqing gave up on her rescue mission, turned her head and sighed. Immediately after that, the figure coming out of the elevator caught her attention.

Her back stiffened.

Gu Nian was distressed. "I can't let that happen. I must head over to Daoci Temple right away after we get back and burn some incense. I hope my precious son's very first show will be a big hit. If his very first one was an instant death, nobody would ever ask for him again and he would become dirt broke and has to live on the streets……"

The more Gu Nian thought about it, the more scared she became. When she frowned from her worries, she was poked by Jiang Xiaoqing, who was finally able to recollect herself, "Gu Nian……"

"Mmm?"

Gu Nian was still worried about her precious son's path to stardom and did not look up when she responded to Jiang Xiaoqing.

"Em…… you might want to look up."

"?"

Gu Nian looked up at Jiang Xiaoqing, baffled. All she saw was the stiffened look on Jiang Xiaoqing and the twisted look when she tried her best to wink at Gu Nian.

Gu Nian looked at her for a full two seconds and said, "Your face is not feeling well?"

Jiang Xiaoqing, "……"

"She was probably trying to tell you that I am here."

"––!"

A voice came from behind and above her. It gave Gu Nian goosebumps and she turned around to look behind her, startled.

The honest and upright figure standing behind the couch leaned down slowly and the tender brown eyes behind the lens were filled with smile.

Gu Nian said, dazed, "Luo… Luo Xiu?"

Luo Xiu was surprised and apologetic when he saw how frightful Gu Nian was. "Did I scare you? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."

Gu Nian recollected herself, "No, no. It is not your fault. I am just too timid and I was deep in thought earlier."

Luo Xiu's eyes curved. "Ah, you are easily scared. I will keep that in mind."

"Huh?" Gu Nian was dumbfounded. "Keep what in mind?"

"Next time, I will approach you from the front or the side," said Luo Xiu.

"……"

Taken aback a little, Gu Nian nodded cheerfully.

Jiang Xiaoqing looked at the blushing girl who was looking at the man with her eyes sparkling. For sure there was a little girl inside of her waving madly a sign that had "My precious son is the tenderest in the world" written all over it. She then looked at the man standing behind them with the tender smile as though the coldness that they had seen on him was but their own imagination.

She knew full well that there was no way these two were seeing eye to eye but, somehow, their eyes seemed to have locked onto each other's and so firmly that nothing could get between them.

Jiang Xiaoqing quietly scooted away from Gu Nian, moved backward, and scooted over next to Qin Yuanyuan who was sitting at the end of the couch.

Qin Yuanyuan smiled at her, "You are not gluing to our Guru Gu Nian anymore?"

"You knew why I left." Jiang Xiaoqing feigned anger as she glanced back over at the two next to the couch. Sighing, she said, "Anyone who looks at the scene right now would be able to see pink bubbles. Our Guru Gu Nian is probably the only person who still thinks that this is a scene between a loving mother and her filial son."

Qin Yuanyuan said cheerfully, "Don't say that. You are making me feel bad for Luo Xiu."

"……"

On the other side.

Gu Nian finally recollected herself from the joy of running into her precious son one more time before they took off and asked, "But why are you still here? All the other cast and workers were already gone."
