Signing In At The Civil Affairs Bureau, I Was Rewarded With A Gorgeous Wife

Chapter 52: Chapter 52 Want to drink? I'll see you through to the end!

"Oh?"

Lu's father looked towards the kitchen just in time to see Song Yun carrying out a dish, and after a careful glance, he sighed.

Setting aside everything else, just the aristocratic demeanor of Song Yun was already overshadowing his own son.

"Dad, do we have guests?"

After setting down the dish, Song Yun casually wiped his hands on his apron and asked.

"Yes, this is your Uncle Lu and his family." Ye's father introduced, "Since you're here, why not stay and have some food?"

Lu's father nodded, observing his son's eyes blazing with anger and Song Yun's nonchalant demeanor, and quickly made a judgement.

Ye's father said with a smile, "Come on, everyone, let's raise a glass to thank Song Yun for the splendid meal he has prepared for us."

"A cook, acting all high and mighty..."

Lu Sihua was displeased that Song Yun had become the center of attention and muttered something under his breath.

The Ye family knew that Lu Sihua was seething with anger, having chased after Ye Qingqing for several years only to be beaten to the punch by someone else.

But Song Yun was unaware of all these details; he only sensed that this younger brother harbored considerable hostility towards him.

"Heh, do we know each other?"

"No, but I just can't stand you."

Lu Sihua's words plunged the room into silence, and even Ye's father slowly put down the glass he was holding. The kid didn't seem to care about the impact of his words on his host, Ye's son-in-law.

As the atmosphere grew increasingly awkward, Lu's father quickly picked up his glass and said, "Old Ye, here's to you. It seems you've found a good son-in-law; as an old friend, I'm happy for you."

That was offering a way out, and Ye's father couldn't refuse. He lifted his glass, clinked it with the other's, and they both downed their drinks.

Lu Sihua poured himself a glass of wine, his fingers gripping the cup tightly, and the more he thought about it, the less reconciled he felt, eventually pouring himself a full cup from the decanter.

"I apologize for what I just said. This drink is for you."

As Lu Sihua slowly lifted the decanter, everyone present knew what he was up to.

In their circle, Lu Sihua had a reputation as someone who dared to drink and could hold his liquor. There were always those who challenged him each year, but most ended up passed out under the table.

Now, he wanted to use this tactic to embarrass Song Yun.

To be honest, Ye's father was now truly irritated. "You little bastard," he thought. "I'm overlooking this because of your dad, but can't you just eat your meal quietly? Must you jump out to seek attention?"

Before Ye's father could say a word, Song Yun had already filled his own decanter to the brim.

"Your health first."

Song Yun tilted his head back, and the liquor slid down his throat.

Honestly, Song Yun was truly not afraid of such drinking. His physical constitution was far superior to ordinary people, and thus he could metabolize the alcohol very quickly.

Plus, he had a hangover cure card in his hand that he'd acquired from a recent check-in; he hadn't thought it would be of any use, but it seemed today was the day.

Watching Song Yun drink without hesitation, Lu Sihua couldn't help but think, "Drink up, let's see who can hold more liquor!"

So he followed suit, also downing a glass of white liquor.

He shook his head, exhaled a breath of alcohol, and before he could even take a few bites of food to ease himself, Song Yun was already pouring him another full glass.

"Little brother, since it's our first meeting, this one's for you."

After saying that, Song Yun gulped down another glass of white liquor.

Lu Sihua looked at the clear liquid in the glass, and without bothering to eat, he also drank it down.

"Come on, it's customary to have three drinks upon a first meeting. Here's another from me to you."

Song Yun tilted his head back again and downed another glass.

Watching Song Yun drink as if it were water, Lu Sihua felt intimidated. The alcohol was getting to him even more.

But he was the one who had initiated the challenge; there was no backing out now.

After three cups in quick succession, Lu Sihua hurriedly ate a few bites of food to settle the churning alcohol in his stomach.

But Song Yun didn't touch his food at all and continued to pour another cup for Lu Sihua's shared drinking vessel.

"I feel like we brothers are fated, shall we drink together?"

Lu Sihua chewed on his food while clenching his right fist under the table.

"Song Yun, drinking like this is too harmful to your health; you should eat something," Ye Qingqing's father said reproachfully, but deep down he was impressed by Song Yun's alcohol tolerance.

"Yes, yes, yes, eat something first." Lu's father hastily chimed in, knowing all too well the limits of his own son, who despite his usual ability to drink, would need four to five hours over a meal of eating, drinking, and chatting for the effects of the alcohol to wear off.

But Song Yun's unorthodox and aggressive drinking method left Lu Sihua with no way to defend himself.

Seeing this, Song Yun put down his cup and leisurely ate the food Ye Qingqing had picked for him.

After more than ten minutes, Lu Sihua slowly got his energy back, but he didn't dare to chug directly from the shared drinking vessel.

Instead, he poured into a small cup of baijiu and raised it, saying, "I think our brotherhood is also fated, shall we drink?"

Song Yun, who didn't refuse a challenge, downed the cup without even looking.

"All goes smoothly in sixes, we've had four and there are just two left, let's drink them together."

Song Yun poured himself two more cups and drank them with a guzzling sound.

Lu Sihua quickly followed suit.

"Now that the 'six sixes' are done, let's drink to 'seven hearts united in effort'!"

Seeing Song Yun beginning to look tired, Lu Sihua cast aside his concerns; he refused to believe he was inferior in drinking to Song Yun, certain that this bastard was just pretending to be calm!

The two men proceeded with 'eight immortals crossing the sea,' 'nine back to one,' and 'perfection in ten.'

After finishing, Lu Sihua began to slur his words.

"You... who are you really..." Lu Sihua mumbled unclearly.

"I'm just an ordinary person."

Song Yun continued to eat his food with a smile, as if nothing was wrong.

"I..."

"Thud!"

Lu Sihua hadn't finished speaking when he dived under the table.

Seeing the drinking session was beyond salvage, Lu's father sighed and left with his son.

In his view, stubbornly competing with Song Yun was a foolish choice, as it was evident that Song Yun, despite drinking so much, hadn't changed color, nor did his hand tremble when picking up food.

Moreover, Song Yun took advantage of Lu Sihua's toasting as an excuse to drink fiercely, resulting in Lu Sihua's eventual backlash.

The more Lu's father thought about it, the more annoyed he became, glaring at his son lying ineffectively in the back seat and angrily slapped him.

On the other side, Song Yun and Ye Qingqing's father slowly sipped their drinks.

Ye Qingqing's father felt very pleased at this moment, admiring the masterful and overt strategy used by Song Yun.

Furthermore, Song Yun's cooking was very much to his taste, and the more he observed Song Yun, the more he liked him.

Although the meal started off somewhat unsatisfactorily, it had made up for it later on.

After the meal, Song Yun and Ye Qingqing's father chatted over tea.

Ye Qingqing's father took a sip of his tea and curiously asked, "Song Yun, to be honest, I still don't know what exactly do you do for work?"

"Heh, actually, I do whatever comes to my mind, but I own a hospital in Magic Capital, and it's doing quite well."

"Oh? You own it?" Ye Qingqing's father asked in surprise, "Which hospital?"

"Hua Chuang Private Hospital."

Upon hearing the name, Ye Qingqing's father's mouth fell open in a dumbfounded expression.
