Chapter 1194: Drawn by corruption (2)



There were all kinds of different sea creatures that appeared around us.

These were all the normal kinds of sea creatures that should have lived in this area.

Only there was something shocking about all of them.

It was the fact that they all looked very strange.

It wasn't that they were mutated compared to how they should have been, it was better to say that they seemed like they were corrupted.

All of these creatures were turned the same colour as the corruption energy.

But that wasn't the only thing that changed about them.

There were these strange growths that were on them that made them look like monsters instead of normal sea life. They looked like creatures that came out of a horror movie with the different mutations that they had.

There were fish that had human hands, there were fish that had spider legs, there were fish that even had some kind of strange tentacle.

It was clear that none of these sea creatures were normal sea creatures.

It wasn't hard to imagine what had turned them into this, it was just...

What were they doing here?

They were completely surrounding us with the way that they positioned themselves. It really seemed like they were ready to attack us at any moment with the way that they surrounded us like this.

But looking closely, it didn't seem like we were the ones that these sea creatures were focusing on.

With how they were faced, it seemed like what they cared about was...the piece of ice that had the corruption energy inside of it.

It really seemed like they wanted to obtain that piece of ice with the corruption energy inside.

Was it because they were drawn by it to protect it or was it because they were here to take it for themselves to become even stronger?

It was hard to guess with the way that the corrupted creatures just surrounded us like this. They really didn't seem like they were planning on doing anything with the way that they just surrounded us.

"Get back!"

The one that lost control in the end was one of the royal guards.

Seeing these kinds of creatures surrounding us was a stressful situation and this royal guard wasn't able to endure that stress. He lost control of himself and charged out at the nearest sea creature, swinging his trident at it.

The trident cut right through the mutated sea creature.

It didn't seem like the mutations increased the defenses of the sea creature with how easily the trident cut through it.

Only that wasn't the end of it.

Even though the sea creature had been cut in half by the trident, it seemed like it wasn't dead yet.

That was because it was still moving.

After a few seconds, there were strange black tendrils that came out of the two halves of the sea creature where it had been cut. These strange black tendrils stretched out as if they were searching for something until they made contact with each other.

Once the black tendrils made contact, they constricted as if they were pulling on each other.

It didn't take long for the two halves of the sea creature to come back together and the black tendrils disappeared.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

But when they came together like this, there was this black liquid that came out of the wound that it suffered. This black liquid binded to the scales on the surface of the sea creature's skin and seemed to congeal it.

It was as if it was bringing it together as some kind of sealing liquid.

It didn't take long for the sea creature to come back to one piece.

It was as if nothing had happened to it, though looking carefully, one could still see the black liquid that was on the surface of the sea creature's skin that was holding it together.

This black liquid was very similar to the corruption energy that was sealed inside of the ice. Once the sea creature recovered, it didn't remain idle.

Since it was the royal guard that attacked the sea creature, the attention of the sea creature went to the royal guard. Once it locked its eyes on the royal guard who was still standing in front of it, it suddenly opened its jaws.

There were sharp teeth that appeared out of nowhere in that jaw and it even seemed to dislocate its jaw as it opened its mouth wide open. It made its mouth grow in size until it seemed like it would be big enough to swallow the royal guard.

However, the royal guard was well trained and reacted when he saw the sea creature attacking him.

He simply swept out with his trident and cut the sea creature in half again.

This time, he didn't stop with just cutting the sea creature in half, he continued slashing at the sea creature until it was in tiny pieces. He had seen how it had recovered after being slashed in half previously, so he knew that it wouldn't work if he just slashed it in half.

Instead, he thought that slashing it to pieces would make it so the corrupted sea creature wouldn't be able to recover.

It was just too bad that this wasn't the case.

Even after being cut into tiny pieces like this, the same black tendrils as before appeared.

They were smaller than before, but they still came out of the pieces of the corrupted sea creature that the royal guard had cut it into. They reached out for each other until they grabbed each other again and drew these small pieces together.

After drawing them together, the corrupted sea creature was reformed once more.

It seemed that there was nothing that the royal guard could do against it as it kept reforming.

But that wasn't the only problem.

After the corrupted sea creature reformed, it was as if something stirred the surrounding corrupted sea creatures.

They slowly turned to look at the royal guard that had left the group.
