Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 275: Empty Cave

The extreme honesty of Carmen was unreal.

Clearly, she knew the astonishing cost of having a piece of equipment enchanted, much less her entire kit.

Additionally, there was also the valuable Tier 1 Stamina Gemstone.

Without a doubt, she could easily tell how valuable such an item was.

Just the mere effect of stamina recovery would easily send many guilds into a frenzy. After all, their intense grinding was now affected by the durability of equipment and stamina.

However, these players had no way to resolve the issues other than sending nearly half their money to expensive blacksmiths to repair and taverns to rest.

"So, how much does it cost to have all this arranged, Guild Leader?" Carmen asked fawningly, even referring to him as a guild leader and not Feng.

"I see what you’re trying to do." Xu Feng smiled bitterly and shook his head.

Now that she had joined his guild, she might as well be shameless like her guild leader.

"It’s effective, but don’t do it again. Just be the normal you." Xu Feng faked a cough and said softly.

Truth be told, he nearly got goosebumps from her fawning tone. It simply didn’t fit her style or personality whatsoever.

"Was the impersonation not good enough?" Curious, Carmen placed her hand under her chin as she didn’t think it was that bad.

"No, it was terrible." Xu Feng responded ruthlessly. The demoness in his mind was beginning to crack, and if she continued to mimic his behavior, then it would shatter completely.

A glimpse of gloominess flashed over her expression before she composed herself.

"Got it." Carmen took a mental note of it and decided it was better to not copy his method. Some methods were only suitable for certain people.

Nevertheless, she wasn’t disheartened much by it as the duo promptly exited the blacksmith shop and began making their way to the empty cave.

Along the way, Xu Feng explained briefly the situation to her.

"The empty cave has been explored by numerous people, but the clues linked up to it. Hence, we’re going to make a personal investigation ourselves"

"Hmm, I understand where you’re coming from." Carmen knitted her brows but felt uncertain about her presence.

"I don’t know much about the Divine World yet, so I might not be of any help."

"No worries." Xu Feng shrugged.

He was merely banking on her being a lucky charm, given her leveling speed was truly frightening. Not even Gentle Wind, Herald Fist, and other mainstream players had reached level 15 that quickly.

Shortly after, the duo arrived at the empty cave, and Carmen seemed to be intrigued.

"Hmm, the structure and the area are really different." Carmen gave her opinion.

"The area is not lively like the ones near the town and I can feel my movement somewhat sluggish. But this isn’t the usual status ailment or the hostile environment effect."

"Oh, you can tell the difference?" Amused, Xu Feng hadn’t expected her to be this perceptive.

Normally, it would take others a while to deduce the difference. After all, the effect wasn’t that different, albeit with only some alteration.

However, these slight alterations were the crucial points that determine an expert and an average player.

"I know how the hostile environment felt during the time we went to fight the Ironhide Behemoth. It was something that made it difficult for one to move, but here, I feel like it’s a natural rejection from the world." Carmen tried her best to describe the feeling she was receiving.

Nodding in appreciation of her senses, Xu Feng began to explain what she was really feeling.

A few minutes later, Carmen exclaimed in shock, "Natural suppression? Such a thing actually exists?"

"Of course, it does. There are still a lot of things ready for you to discover slowly." Xu Feng smiled.

"But how do you know all of this? Are you sure you’re not the developer or the son of one?"

"No, I’m a reincarnated person, so I have knowledge regarding all of this."

"Tsk, can’t you even lie better?" Carmen rolled her eyes, clearly dismissing his claim.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng felt wronged. ’So if I lie, people believe me. But when I tell the truth, they call me a liar?’

That was a bruh moment!

Shaking his head, Xu Feng proceeded to summon the Abyssal Phantom after sacrificing 10% of his health. He then commanded it to scout ahead toward the empty cave.

After all, who knows if some kind of random crap would occur at that moment? If that truly happened, then there would be the Abyssal Phantom tanking it for the two of them.

Carmen also had the same mindset as she summoned her own Elementalists to tag alongside the Abyssal Phantom.

As for her curiosity regarding Xu Feng’s skills, she didn’t plan on asking about it. Each person had their own respective secret, and she wasn’t interested enough to ask about it.

Shortly after the duo entered the cave, they inspected their surroundings.

Inside, the cave was dimly lit, with only a faint glow from glowing fungi on the walls. The walls were rough and uneven, showing layers of dirt and some shiny mineral patches. Stalactites hung from the ceiling, creating an eerie atmosphere.

The air was cool and damp, with a musty smell. It was hushed, except for the occasional sound of dripping water from somewhere. The cave had winding tunnels and narrow paths that seemed to go deeper into the earth, making it feel like a maze.

"How cliche of a cave…" Carmen suddenly commented, clearly unfazed by the atmosphere and environment.

"Indeed, but hearing the dripping water is somewhat suspicious." Xu Feng nodded, walking toward the walls and glancing at the shiny mineral patches.

"With the appearance of these, I can deduce why the others were convinced some ores were here." He added, feeling the rough surface of the mineral.

While he said that, Carmen was more bothered by the dripping water being suspicious.

"What’s wrong with hearing water dripping, Guild Leader?" She questioned.

"Think about it carefully. We’re at a supposed empty cave and no water source is nearby. So where are these water-dripping sounds coming from?"

When one worded as such, they would usually feel creeped out or even scared, but Carmen, on the other hand, had her expression brightened up.

"It seems like we’re getting some action, Guild Leader." She clenched her fist, clearly ready for a brawl.
