Chapter 1621: Abnormality

Chapter 1621: Abnormality

Shara waited for the last test, not knowing what it was. She was confused to even begin with as to how any test was going to work. She couldn't see any spirits, couldn't hear them, or sense them. And they wouldn't even answer her calls when she called for them.

By now, she was beginning to wonder if this was all for naught. If everything had been a mistake.

"Well, for the last test, you won't have to do anything," the woman said as she put aside the clipboard and looked around. "Frank!"

The ghost of Frank that was flying around the area, hoping that his work here was done was called over.

"What now?" Frank asked.

"Overtaker's test," the woman said simply. "Go possess her body."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Oh, finally!" Frank said. "Something fun."

Ning frowned. "Aren't there any female ghosts around here that can do that? It doesn't feel right letting an old man-"

"Don't worry," the woman said. "Frank has been with us for decades. He knows how to handle himself. He'll only test if she can be possessed and then leave immediately."

"If... you say so," Ning said.

The woman turned back toward Shara. "Don't try to push back when you feel Frank possessing your body. Let it happen, or else it will be difficult for him."

Shara nodded slowly, appearing a little worried.

"Get ready now, Frank will try to possess you in a bit," the woman said and started a countdown.

"In 3, 2, 1. Go!"

Frank flung his ghost body onto Shara, and in a moment of bright flash, vanished.

Shara stumbled back a little, finally feeling something after all of this time.

The woman smiled, finally seeing something work. "Can you move the body? Try moving your limbs," she asked.

Shara moved her arms a little. "Yes?" she answered. "Is this supposed to happen?"

"Of course, Frank," the woman said with a chuckle. "How many times have you done this?" "No," Shara said. "I'm not Frank. I'm still me."

The woman paused, her eyes narrowing. "Frank, don't play games here. We are in a serious test right now."

"It's not a joke. I'm really still shara," Shara answered. "Did something go wrong? I felt something."

"Is it really you?" the woman asked. "Where's Frank then?"

"I don't know."

The woman frowned. Her eye suddenly became pale white around the iris as she activated her Spectral Vision. The world around her appeared as though it was drowned deep underwater, everything dull, dark, and slowly stirring around.

In that darkness, she saw many bright Spirits move around aimlessly. Each one was a perfect spirit in her eyes, not a dull haze that would appear without Spectral Vision.

She looked around, searching for any sign of Frank, but she found none. She looked at Shara and did not see a single hint of leaking white aura that came with someone that channeled a Spirit or had a spirit take over them.

She couldn't help but worry.

"Frank? Where are you? Answer me," she said. "You're scaring me now. If you don't show up right now, I'll... I'll bring dogs to piss at your grave. You better show up now!"

And yet there was no sign of Frank at all.

Ning looked around, focusing on the hazes that were around. Focusing on the haze felt difficult this far away, but if he did, he could see the appearance they took in life.

Not a single one Ning saw was Frank at all.

"Overtakers..." he started speaking. "Does their body flash when a Spirit tries to possess them?"

"No, I've never seen that happen before," the woman said, now frantic as she realized something had been different about the whole thing.

"Shara, how do you feel?" Ning asked.

"Good," Shara said. "Actually, better than before. I... I feel like... I got stronger?"

"Stronger?" Ning felt an awful realization becoming possible. "Can you use your power? Try freezing those blades of grass."

Shara thought for a moment and nodded. She crouched down toward the blades of grass and used her powers. A blow of white fog left her palm like the cold mist of a blizzard was released from within it. It hit the blades of grass and froze it over, covering it in thick ice.

The woman looked down at the grass, realizing with no uncertainty that Shara did have some power. However, it was none of what should have been the correct answer.

And Frank was nowhere to be found.

A deep chill passed through her spine.

Shara was something that she did not understand.

"I... I have to call my superiors," the woman said, quickly running away from the place.

Ning watched her leave and walked up to Shara. Shara looked at him, worried. "What happened to me? What happened to that Frank guy she was talking about?"

"I don't know," Ning said. "I think he was tired of working here, so he ran away." Shara looked up at Ning. "Are you trying to hide the truth from me?" she asked. "I'm 15 years old, you know. I'm only a few years younger than you."

Ning chuckled. "Alright, alright. I don't know what happened with Frank, but I think while trying to possess you, he was... killed? No, that's not right. He was already dead."

Shara took in a deep breath. "I destroyed his soul?" she asked.

"No, not his soul. His soul is fine," Ning answered. "He's moved on is what happened. Just

like your grandmother."

"So I didn't kill him?" Shara asked.

"He was already dead," Ning said. He couldn't explain more, as he too was in the unknown of what had happened. Whatever had happened had now made him sure that Shara was not one of the 5 types of awakened individuals.

There was a reason the quest gave him 20 points. It was because it would be difficult to find

the truth.

This only made him even more curious.

'I hope I get the answer here, or I won't know where to go to find it.'
