Chapter 167: Men or Whatever, Get Lost!
Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Men or Whatever, Get Lost!
The next day, Qi Yue woke up on the spacious bed in the space.
Looking at the time, she realized a whole night had passed, and she instantly became flustered.
She wondered if Zhao Xiyan had looked for her all night…
Getting out of bed, she suddenly came to her senses.
Why was she still mentioning him? Why did she still care about his feelings?
“Gurgle…”
A loud rumbling came from her stomach, reminding her that she hadn’t eaten the day before.
She wasn’t in a hurry to leave; breakfast came first.
She started with a bottle of yogurt, turned on the stove to boil some dumplings, and added a few fish balls filled with surimi.
Watching the fish balls slowly plump up, all white like little buns, her mood gradually improved.
The large dumplings with thin skin and generous filling, dipped in savory chili oil, she polished off half a pound, plus three chubby fish balls.
After swallowing the last dumpling, she couldn’t help but exclaim.
“Awesome!”
Men, get lost!
They aren’t even as delicious as these dumplings!
Checking the time, it was just right to go out and practice with her knife.
A few days ago, she had bid on a pair of butterfly double daggers from the Space-Time Mall, and today was a good day to practice with them.
As soon as she pushed the door open to go outside, she saw people lined up on both sides.
Qu Wei, Auntie Zhang, and several others of varying heights and sizes were all staring at her with wide eyes.
The most eye-catching was Zhao Xiyan.
Clothed in moon-white, he stood in the soft light of the early morning, exuding an ineffable and elusive aura.
She kept her fluttering heart in check and said indifferently, “What are you all doing standing around here?”
“Yueyue…”
No sooner had Zhao Xiyan begun to speak than Qu Wei interjected, “Sister Yueyue, did you really hide away to sleep last night? I was worried about you all night.”
Feeling Zhao Xiyan’s gaze fixed on her, Qi Yue uncomfortably turned her face away and looked towards Huang Zai’an.
“Mhm, my master’s words are certainly right.”
Huang Zai’an chuckled with a ‘hehe’.
“Exactly, we said she’d come out early; they didn’t believe us.”
As he spoke, his eyes lingered on the double daggers in Qi Yue’s hands, shining with a slight gleam.
“Apprentice, those daggers are nice. Get a set for your master too,” he said.
Qi Yue rolled her eyes and clinked the double daggers in her hands.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
“Do you even know how to use them? Don’t trim your beard by mistake.”
Huang Zai’an quickly grabbed his beard and scurried away.
Auntie Zhang stepped forward and said, “Miss, you didn’t eat last night; why not have breakfast before practicing with the knives?”
“No need. Make arrangements for my brother and the Young Marquis to eat,” she replied.
Then, with just a fleeting glance at Zhao Xiyan and Qu Wei, she headed to the back garden.
At this point, she was still unaware that the cunning Zhao Xiyan had already learned most of her affairs from Qu Wei, which is probably why she could remain so composed.
But to Zhao Xiyan, it meant something else.
His Yueyue was clearly angry, not even speaking a word to him.
It looked like he had to explain things regarding the Princess’s situation quickly, but this early morning was not the right time for that conversation.
However, he could make plans to talk to her in the evening. He was also concerned that Qi Yue, having not eaten the night before, might faint while practicing with her daggers, so he told Auntie Zhang he’d eat later as well and followed her to the back garden.
Qu Wei saw this and decided not to eat either, intending to follow to the garden.
“Zhao Xiyan, what exactly are you doing? We told you it’s time to leave, so why are you still hanging around?”
Zhao Xiyan glanced back at him and with a mere gesture, four men of varying height and build immediately stepped forward and restrained Qu Wei on the spot.
Qu Wei cursed out loud at once.
“Damn you, Zhao Xiyan! You’ve actually arranged for people to be by Yueyue’s side. What are you really up to?”
“Zhao Xiyan, you come back here! Don’t you dare disturb Yueyue practicing with her saber…”
The tall, short, fat, and thin men had long found Qu Wei displeasing to their eyes.
The four dragged Qu Wei, pulling and pushing him under the front hall’s porch.
The tall one took on the boss’s demeanor and began to lecture.
“Hey, kid, can’t you see what’s happening? Our master clearly has something to say to Miss Qi, and here you are, meddling and stirring up trouble.”
Qu Wei spat, “What’s he got to say that’s so important, if not to deceive my little sister Yueyue!”
“Listen here, kid. Show some respect,” the fat one said, lifting his fist discontentedly, “Our master is truly devoted to Miss Qi. What deception are you talking about? Keep spouting nonsense, and I’ll teach you a lesson!”
The skinny one stirred things up, “Fatso, why not just give him a beating and throw him out? That’ll save us the trouble of him constantly ruining the master and the mistress’s good affairs.”
The short one nodded and chimed in agreement.
“I agree, I’ve been annoyed by this kid for a long time.”
As the two were about to get physical, they were stopped by the tall one.
“After all, he’s still the big brother recognized by the mistress. If we throw him out, the mistress might not be pleased.”
Upon hearing this, everyone thought there was some sense to it.
Qu Wei was already swearing on the side.
“What mistress, no mistress. My sister has already divorced Zhao Xiyan; she won’t have any ties with the Zhao Family from now on. Stop talking nonsense!”
Among the group, the tall one was a bit sharper.
He had long noticed that Qu Wei harbored feelings for Qi Yue, but knowing that he had no chance, he used his big brother status to make things difficult for Zhao Xiyan.
Luckily, he wasn’t mean-spirited. Wooing him and getting him on our side seemed the best course of action.
Having heard he had some minor influence, he might come in handy.
With this thought, the tall man winked at the others and jovially took Qu Wei’s arm.
“Brother Qu, you seem to be about our age. Why not become sworn brothers? We would really admire a dashing and carefree gentleman like you.”
The short one also stepped forward, his round face blooming into a baozi-like smile.
“Brother Qu, you’re so tall and strong; we’ll be counting on your care in the future!”
“Brother Qu, let’s have a drink later tonight…”
Both the fat one and the skinny one joined in.
The four surrounded Qu Wei, showering him with flattery and good will, leaving him a bit dumbfounded.
But soon, their enthusiasm infected him.
The tall, short, fat, and thin men were all hot-blooded soldiers accustomed to battlefields, naturally frank and cheerful. And Qu Wei himself was someone who enjoyed lively settings and making jokes.
Only the long years of suffering from his illness had filled him with resentment towards everyone around him. He was either icy-cold or superficially smiling while plotting behind their backs.
But Qi Yue’s arrival helped him rediscover his true self.
Being able to bicker and joke around with Qi Yue, he felt as if life had taken on new meaning.
Especially after the bug in his brain was removed by Qi Yue, no longer having to endure the torment of illness, his entire temperament changed drastically, he became more cheerful and open.
Getting pulled around by the tall, short, fat, and thin men, he suddenly felt a sense of pride.
And upon learning that these were the four formidable generals under Zhao Xiyan’s command, known as the Four Tiger Generals, his satisfaction grew.
He had always envied those who could go to battle because of his illness, never having that chance himself since childhood.
To put it plainly, his opposition to Zhao Xiyan was fueled by a mixture of envy and admiration.
Now, to become chummy with his underlings, the Four Tiger Generals, actually seemed quite entertaining.
Who knows, they might come in handy in the future!
The group laughed and talked, and in an instant, they bonded.
Qu Wei stealthily glanced towards the direction of the garden, thinking to himself that Qi Yue clearly couldn’t let go of Zhao Xiyan. If he continued being unreasonable, he would indeed become an annoyance to others.
What do you think?
