Chapter 35 Escaping The City Of Elves
"The system has given us a mission, our job here is done, now let us go before the guards come." Haya stared at Lucas.
"What's our hurry?" Lucas asked him.
Haya did not have time to be questioned by a child now, they had the gem and were forming the team, their only option now was to escape from this place immediately without getting caught.
"Listen, kid, I know you have no idea what's going on right now, but we have done this before, so how about you just listen and follow us?" Haya stretched his neck.
'We have done this before? Lucas paused for a moment, 'what does he mean?' He turned to Haya, looked him straight in the eye, and asked.
"If I listen to you, would you tell me what the purpose of me and Kali in this place is?"
*wheee* *whoooo* *wheeee* *whoooo*
A siren was heard in the city of the elves,
*ping*
[System Activated]
[Danger approaching]
[I repeat: Danger approaching]
[Must flee immediately]
Lucas felt a shiver run down his spine when he heard the system's statement again.
Abdominal cramps caused Lucas' stomach to ache, he grabbed it with his trembling hands and tried to hold the aching spot.
"Come on, get on Kali!" Haya shouted, pointing at Lucas.
Lucas decided not to wait, as the sirens came closer and closer, *wee* *woo* *wee* *woo* He walked behind Kali and began to climb on her massive tail, holding onto her scales one by one, pressing his body closer to hers, after a few seconds he was on top of her.
Haya and Xina jumped into the air and settled on Kali's back, 'I want to learn that Lucas gasped.
"Kali, we are ready!" Haya shouted.
Kali flapped her wings in the air and pushed her feet off the ground. She slowly lifted her body from one meter to the other, beating her wings against the wind as she became airborne.
"Lucas, try to breathe slowly, this may take a while now!"
Lucas listened to Haya's words and began to control his breathing, holding onto Kali's scales and trying not to fall down again.
*wee* *woo* *wee* *woo*
Arrows began to attack Kali from the ground, large and metallic with a magical kind of dust were aimed at Kali and the others, "Xina!" Haya looked at her,
"I am already on it!" Xina stood up on Kali's back.
In Lucas' eyes, it looked like she had perfect balance with her body, she was not struggling as Lucas had before.
Xina pulled a bow from her back and with a sparkle in her hand, arrows appeared in her hands.
She began to aim at those who shot from the ground, fully concentrated she aimed her arrow at the one wearing a blue helmet, she stood still, closed her eyes, and breathed in.
Xina shot the arrow at the elf who was also aiming at her.
It hit his chest and the man fell to the ground.
"One down, fifty to go." Haya smiled, "Are you going to be alright now?" He asked.
"Do not worry about the shooters, the gates will open soon, I have to get rid of them by then!" Replied Xina as she breathed in more air.
The gates of the city can only be opened by the elf, no other being here has that power, but the arrowmen attacked them incessantly and Xina was alone.
Haya could not fully control the spirits in the air as they needed stability and ground, Lucas was the only option left as Kali was not allowed to breathe fire and destroy the city.
"Lucas, could you summon the white phoenix now?" Haya glared at him as she tried to keep still as well.
Kali's movements were becoming more and more difficult to hold, their bodies swinging to the side with each turn.
"Whi-white phoenix? Now?" Lucas paused.
"Yes, the wings of the phoenix could help us all escape." Haya breathed in.
Not wanting a quarrel, Lucas decided to help them escape, since they'd already helped him reach his destination anyway.
"How am I to do that?"
"You should know that!"
Common sense blessed Lucas for the first time while he was here, and he spread his hand, formed his palm into a fist, and released his index and middle fingers to summon the white phoenix: "Renexa, appear before me!"
The pink clouds were destroyed by the massive white wings of a bird about two metres high, "Renexa, destroy the people shooting at us!" Lucas commanded this bird without wasting any time.
The bird nodded, spread its wings and flew after the flying dragon. Renexa straightened her wings on both sides, pulled them back and pushed her wings forward with a force.
An annoying, squeaking sound came from the white phoenix's mouth as it shot the vibrating air blocking their arrows from attacking Kali.
The wind released by Renexa turned into small, tiny shards of glass that flew with the speed of the sound and vibrations directly towards the elves who attacked them.
The sharp vibrating sound caused some to cover their ears from the sound that could kill you in seconds, the vibration that destroys your eardrums and forces you to close your eyes in pain, that's when the glass attack occurs.
It hit someone in the eyes, one lost his arm and another fell to his knees.
"Ay!"
"Damn it!"
They heard the elves groan as Renexa thrust out her wings another time, another thrilling attack awaiting the arrowmen.
"Line up everyone, don't lose concentration!" Ordered the man in the blue helmet to his people.
The quivering air force greeted the elves again with a sound that sounded like a dragon screaming. The sharp glass cut straight through all of them, larger and more dangerous pieces piercing the elves' organs and forcing them to fall down dead.
"Is this the power of Renexa?" Lucas swallowed as sweat ran down his skin.
His rapid heartbeat sent his body into another state of shock. He began to breathe harder and more forced, the vision in his eyes blurred again, "don't let it absorb your full mana yet, order it to go back!" Haya spoke aloud.
"Can I do that?" Lucas spoke slowly, trying to pull himself together, he shook his head and squinted his eyes, 'whoo, whoo', he breathed in more air.
"Yeah, it's stealing your mana, and it's still weak, it did enough damage to help us escape, now tell it to go back."
'Eeeh, whoo, eeeh , whoo' Lucas had no energy left to even speak.
His heartbeat slowed, he grew tired. The bird was draining all his energy, "Re-renexa..." Lucas spoke as he slowed his movements, "Renexa, go back..." He sighed.
The bird heard its owner's words and disappeared into the thin air, there was no longer any sign of the white phoenix.
"Xina, now!" Haya shouted as he kept Lucas' body from falling over.
"Xina started mumbling something into her mouth outside the great gates of the elven city.
The gates, as huge and massive as an entire village, made a grinding iron sound on the ground and began to open. A small gap between two doors was enough for the dragon to escape,
"Yeeehaaa!" Haya raised his hand in the air and felt a victorious joy.
"We escaped!" He turned to Lucas and saw him with his eyes being closed, "no, no, no!"
