Pregnant After Healing the Alpha

Chapter 164 - 157: Xu Moqian Proposes to Qiao Jing

Chapter 164: Chapter 157: Xu Moqian Proposes to Qiao Jing

All three bodyguards were kicked to the ground, sprawled out with their limbs flailing, wailing loudly.

“What’s going on?!” Hou Bo’s eyes widened as he looked toward the door.

Zhan Qipei entered slowly in his wheelchair.

“You are—”

Before Hou Bo could finish, he saw Tang Yan pushing the wheelchair through the door.

Hou Bo’s eyes instantly widened, and his gaze abruptly shifted from Tang Yan back to Zhan Qipei.

If he didn’t know who the person in the wheelchair was by now, he might as well have grown his brain for nothing.

“You are President Zhan?!”

Zhan Qipei lifted his heavy, dark eyes, his piercing gaze shooting toward Hou Bo like icy daggers.

Although Zhan Qipei, seated in his wheelchair, was technically looking up at Hou Bo, anyone witnessing the scene could feel as though Zhan Qipei was looking down on an ant.

As Hou Bo met Zhan Qipei’s penetrating gaze, his heart skipped a beat, the chill felt as if ice had formed on his body.

What was happening? Why was President Zhan looking at him with such a terrifying gaze? Had he done something to offend him?

Hou Bo looked toward the several bodyguards lying on the ground, guessing what might have happened.

President Zhan’s visit was clearly not a friendly one, and likely one of his men had crossed the line and provoked the other party.

Damn it! Hou Bo cursed inwardly. Who was the blind one? Of all people to provoke, it had to be Zhan’s own Yama Raja!

“President Zhan, if you’re here because someone under my command has offended you, I’ll immediately have that idiot come over to bow his head in apology and atone however you deem fit!”

Zhan Qipei’s calm and obscure eyes narrowed as he pointed a finger at Hou Bo.

“What?!” Hou Bo’s heart nearly skipped a beat.

“Me? You’re saying I’ve offended you? No, that’s a grave misunderstanding! I’ve been injured and lying in the hospital for nearly a day, how could I possibly have offended you?”

“Qiao Jing.” The two words were uttered from Zhan Qipei’s mouth.

Upon hearing that name, Hou Bo’s heart almost missed another beat.

“Qiao, Qiao, Qiao Jing? Isn’t she, didn’t she divorce you?”

“Who said that?” The look in Zhan Qipei’s eyes was endlessly cold and sharp as he stared at Hou Bo.

Hou Bo almost bit his tongue, “No, no, hasn’t it been 100 days yet?”

Zhan Qipei produced a marriage certificate, which had a red background photo of him and Qiao Jing, “Not 100 days, but a lifetime.”

The gravity of Zhan Qipei’s statement was so intense and frightening that it nearly made Hou Bo’s heart jump out of his throat.

“President Zhan, you’re not joking with me, are you?”

Hou Bo stared dumbfounded at Zhan Qipei, whose expression remained inscrutable, revealing no fluctuations, making it all the more difficult to doubt the truth of his words.

Hou Bo’s mouth gaped wide enough to fit a goose egg, ignoring his injuries, he knelt straight down in front of Zhan Qipei.

“I was wrong! I shouldn’t have coveted your wife! I’m sorry! Please forgive me!”

While speaking, Hou Bo began to slap himself hard, as if fearing that a light blow would not earn Zhan Qipei’s forgiveness.

The next day.

The capital was in uproar.

The Qiao family went bankrupt, and Zhan Corporation acquired Hou’s company at a low price.

It all happened overnight, prompting everyone to wonder if the two families had offended the same force, otherwise how could their demise align so coincidentally?

Of course, these were only speculations, and as outsiders, they lacked the capacity to investigate it fully.

Even if they had the ability, who would dare to delve into the depths of the Zhan family?

Qiao Jing was in the research institute tending to vegetables when Xu Moqian walked in.

“Sister Jing, do you think Zhan Qipei was just bored? Why else would he acquire Hou’s company? I don’t know what Hou did to offend him?”

Qiao Jing glanced briefly at Xu Moqian, then withdrew her gaze after a few seconds and continued tending to the newly grafted vegetables.

Seeing that his attempt to engage Qiao Jing had not caught her attention, Xu Moqian took large steps to her side, wanting to say something but feeling embarrassed to speak, and just paced around her.

“What’s the matter with you?” Qiao Jing asked, puzzled as she turned back to look at Xu Moqian.

Just as Zhan Nanqing was about to approach with the freshly printed documents in hand, a sudden hand reached out and yanked them away.

Zhan Nanqing stared wide-eyed at Gan Lanlan, who held a finger to her lips, signaling Zhan Nanqing to stay silent.

Zhan Nanqing looked at Gan Lanlan, confused. What the hell?

Gan Lanlan jerked her chin towards Qiao Jing and Xu Moqian, hinting Zhan Nanqing not to go over there because there was a good show to watch.

Zhan Nanqing followed Gan Lanlan’s indication and saw Xu Moqian standing in front of Qiao Jing.

Though these two were often together, something about the atmosphere seemed off.

“Ahem—” Xu Moqian cleared his throat, took a ring box out of his pocket, opened it, and knelt on one knee in front of Qiao Jing.

“Sister Jing, we’ve known each other for so many years, and you don’t dislike me, so why don’t you do me the honor of marrying me?”

A proposal?!!

Both Zhan Nanqing and Gan Lanlan were shocked by Xu Moqian’s bold moves.

Especially Zhan Nanqing, whose emotions were so mixed that no words could describe them.

Now Qiao Jing and her brother weren’t divorced yet, which meant that Qiao Jing was technically her sister-in-law. She was witnessing another man proposing to her sister-in-law, which felt incredibly weird.

Zhan Nanqing was particularly eager to see Qiao Jing’s reaction. She couldn’t possibly just accept, could she? If that were the case, her best friend Lou Xinrou would lose a formidable rival.

But why did she feel reluctant to see that happen?

Qiao Jing glanced at the ring with a calm expression, showing no significant reaction.

She had indeed been surprised a moment ago.

Just “surprised.”

No other emotional ripples followed.

“You want me to marry you, but what’s in it for me?”

Qiao Jing’s question took Xu Moqian aback.

What’s in it for her?

Money?

Qiao Jing might be richer than his family.

Fame?

Qiao Jing was more famous than his grandfather.

And Qiao Jing was attractive, hardworking, knowledgeable in medicine, and most importantly—she was an excellent cook.

“Uh, I’m handsome,” Xu Moqian stammered.

Xu Moqian never thought the day would come when he’d have to rely on his looks.

“But you’re not as handsome as Zhan Qipei,” Qiao Jing replied straightforwardly, implying nothing else.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

On hearing this, Xu Moqian’s eyes bulged with frustration!

Some rejoiced, others fretted.

Fretting was Xu Moqian; rejoicing was Zhan Nanqing.

Zhan Nanqing nodded with satisfaction, finding Qiao Jing’s view very pleasing.

That’s right. Her brother was much more handsome than Xu Moqian.

“What do you mean? How am I not as handsome as him?”

“Face,” replied Qiao Jing.

Xu Moqian “…”

Fine, fine, fine! If he wasn’t as handsome as Zhan Qipei, then he’d show off his strong physique.

With that thought, Xu Moqian stood up, said no more, and took off his shirt, flexing his muscles in front of Qiao Jing.
