Chapter 381: Name Spreading Across Hoenn

At this moment, everyone felt like they were in a dream.

Elite Four Phoebe… lost?

In the minds of most Trainers, the concept of dividing teams into ace Pokémon or main Pokémon was uncommon. To them, the Elite Four symbolized the pinnacle of Trainers, naturally possessing incredibly powerful Pokémon.

Even knowing that this Drifloon was just a newly raised Pokémon by Phoebe, Terrance’s victory still seemed unbelievable to the crowd.

Many of them stared at Terrance with wide eyes. This challenger…

Who exactly was he?

With Phoebe’s help, Terrance narrowly avoided being mobbed by the Trainers and slipped away from the crowd on his own.

“Master Phoebe said she looks forward to our next battle… What does that mean?” Terrance pondered over Phoebe’s parting words, feeling quite surprised.

“Never mind. If that opportunity comes, it’ll be a real battle next time.” He took a deep breath.

This match had shown him the gap between himself and an Elite Four. Moreover, Phoebe seemed to belong to the younger generation of the Elite Four and lacked extensive experience in this area.

When it comes to the Elite Four, the most renowned are still those few members from the older generation of the Elite Four.

“With my current strength, even facing one of the main Pokémon of an Elite Four would be difficult, let alone their ace Pokémon…”

“But I’m far from hitting my limit. It won’t take long to catch up.”

As he reflected on his battle with Phoebe, Chisana, having received the message from him, quickly rushed over.

Upon seeing Terrance, Chisana was so excited that words failed him. It was hard to believe that something so story-like would happen to him, that the protagonist would be someone he knew, someone who had even been mentoring him the day before.

“Brother Terrance… you…” Chisana finally managed to speak.

“I’m still far from being on the level of the Elite Four. That Drifloon was trained by Master Phoebe for less than a year,” Terrance said, shaking his head.

To truly face off against the Elite Four, it would likely take him another three years of hard work to have a real chance.

Chisana didn’t think as much as Terrance; he only knew that he had witnessed something extraordinary with his own eyes. This event, no one knew what kind of chain reaction it would ultimately trigger.

Because of this event, Terrance didn’t linger long in Mauville City. After all, too many Trainers had seen him in central park that day.

If he stayed here, he’d probably run into something troublesome.

Since Chisana still needed to participate in the Mauville Contest, he didn’t travel with Terrance. Meanwhile, as Terrance continued his journey toward Fallarbor Town alone, news of his battle with Elite Four Phoebe spread rapidly.

Among the hundreds of Trainers present at the scene, quite a few recognized Terrance.

Rogge Gym’s Temporary Gym Leader and Top Coordinator, these two titles alone already set him apart from ordinary Trainers, making it somewhat easier for people to accept the outcome of this battle.

“He’s applying to establish a Gym?”

Ever Grande City’s League Headquarters.

As she learned some information about Terrance, Phoebe was being teased by Elite Four member Glacia because of the battle.

“Tell me about his strength,” Glacia asked.

“He’s not as strong as me,” Phoebe replied, her expression unchanged.

“I know that,” Glacia said, speechlessly.

Exasperated, Phoebe stretched, clearly not wanting to talk about this matter further with Glacia. Losing a battle against another Trainer because she underestimated him… it wasn’t something to be proud of.

However, Glacia eventually managed to get the answers she was looking for.

“That Beautifly’s overall potential isn’t particularly high, but he’s found an effective method of raising it. The fact that it’s reached this level speaks to his personal breeding skills and perseverance.”

“His awareness, judgment, and command abilities are top-tier for someone his age. And he shares deep bonds with his Pokémon—it’s incredibly commendable.”

“If he doesn’t encounter any insurmountable difficulty, it’s only a matter of time before he reaches our level. It could be five years, or maybe ten or twenty.”

Phoebe’s evaluation was surprisingly high….

Hearing this, Glacia reevaluated Terrance’s Gym Trainer application. After a long pause, she sighed to herself, thinking: What a pity. In the end, he’s just an ordinary person. Compared to someone like Phoebe, who was born with special abilities, he’ll have to work much harder to achieve the same accomplishments.

Hoenn Region’s Elite Four Phoebe was only eighteen years old, and few knew that she had been a Trainer for just five years.

Five years to become an Elite Four member.

Her affinity for Ghost-type Pokémon and her ability to communicate with them perfectly gave her an innate advantage in training them.

This was what Glacia found remarkable. With sufficient resources and expert guidance, reaching such a level in five years wasn’t entirely unheard of. But abilities like telepathy, ninjutsu, psychic powers, or martial arts were like cheat codes for Trainers. Mastering even one of these could provide a solid foundation to become a top-tier Trainer.

“In the Hoenn region, Mr. Norman of Petalburg Gym is essentially just a title away from becoming an Elite Four member. If someone were to step down, he could take their place at any time. Moore, the veteran Elite Four member, has a granddaughter, Flannery, but even she falls short compared to Terrance. It’s uncertain if she can even truly inherit Mr. Moore’s legacy.”

“The other Gym Leaders are also quite exceptional.”

Regardless of whether it’s the older generation of Gym Leaders or the newer ones, the Gyms in the Hoenn region are all quite strong. This is definitely something to be commended.

However, recalling Phoebe’s evaluation of Terrance.

The Strongest of the Young Generation.

If it’s in Hoenn, he could indeed live up to this title.

“Defeated Elite Four Phoebe?” Raoul Contesta, who had just finished judging a Pokémon Contest, was utterly shocked upon hearing the news.

“The strongest of Hoenn’s young generation?” He chuckled, seemingly surprised by the news, but his expression revealed his true feelings—he was overjoyed.

After this battle, regardless of how it played out, the result alone has significantly elevated Terrance’s value.

Raoul Contesta values the upcoming event between Trainers and Coordinators. With Terrance now achieving such a feat, his presence at the event would undoubtedly bolster the standing of Coordinators.

“The Pokémon Contest Hall in Fallarbor Town has already been built, though staff are yet to be assigned, and the interior work and equipment installation is still incomplete.”

“Also, I wonder how Terrance’s Gym application is progressing…”

When opening a Gym, proper promotion and operations are essential. Without recognition, a Gym would struggle to attract challengers. Contesta was already planning to prepare a grand gift for Terrance once the Fallarbor Gym was fully established.

Meanwhile, throughout the Hoenn region, people were abuzz with discussions about Terrance’s victory over Phoebe.

Being dubbed “the strongest of Hoenn’s young generation” brought widespread attention to Terrance but also invited its fair share of trouble. Many Trainers were unwilling to accept it.
