Chapter 63 - Something Feels Off
Chapter 63: Something Feels Off
Standing on the vast plains, looking into the distance, the horizon seemed endless. This broken world was fragmented into countless regions, suspended in the Void itself. It felt as though this place was a part of the Void.
“Master, the Shattered Heaven dungeon has a total of seven bosses,” a Qin family expert, named Fan Xing, respectfully informed Qin Xian.
Fan Xing had spent decades researching Shattered Heaven and was essentially a walking encyclopedia on the dungeon’s intricacies. This gave Qin Xian’s team an advantage unmatched by others.
“The bosses are: Oathbreaker Knight Abel, Blood Priestess Leah, Void’s Eye, Twin Saints, Baron of the North Wind, Valkyrie, Empress Angelina, and finally, the last boss, Void Warlord Kaa.”
“The dungeon follows a linear progression,” Fan Xing continued, “and is filled with Void monsters. Defeating these monsters increases the world’s Purification Level.”
“Once the Purification Level reaches 30%, the bosses will awaken. Each boss drops Void Crystals, which are distributed based on each team’s performance.”
“After defeating five bosses, teams can move to the Holy City to challenge Empress Angelina. Once she is defeated, the final boss, Void Warlord Kaa, will appear. He is a true level 40 Void Warlord, and no one has ever successfully slain him.
When his health drops below 20%, he opens a Void portal and escapes. Teams only have one minute to finish him off, but defeating him in that short amount of time is nearly impossible.”
“After defeating Kaa, teams will proceed to the Ancient Temple, where they can receive blessings from the ancient gods based on the number of Void Crystals they’ve collected.”
The mechanics of Shattered Heaven were not overly complex, but they were tedious. A leaderboard appeared on everyone’s panel, displaying the rankings of all teams. Those with the highest scores were more likely to receive the gods’ favor.
“Can the Void Crystals dropped by bosses be stolen?” Qin Li asked suddenly.
Qin Xian, hearing his sister’s question, couldn’t help but smile. This was the sister who had grown up by his side, whose thought process matched his own perfectly.
“Yes, Miss,” Fan Xing responded quickly. “Each time Shattered Heaven opens, 60% of the teams perish within the dungeon, most of them falling to other teams rather than the monsters.”
Qin Xian nodded, contemplating for a moment as he looked at the numerous Void monsters roaming the plains in the distance.
Then he gave his command, “In that case, let’s focus on hunting Void Elites first. Leave the bosses to the other teams. When we reach the city gates, we’ll simply eliminate the other teams.”
For now, Qin Xian’s priority was to hunt Void Elite monsters to increase his attribute points.
“Yes!” The Qin family experts immediately began sweeping through the monsters.
The Void monsters in this area were Corrupted Demon Wolves, level 20 Void-type creatures. Though individually not very strong, the plain was densely packed with thousands of them. Engaging one meant pulling in dozens at a time.
Even a level 35 professional would find it difficult to handle. However, the Qin family’s elite team had been specifically trained for Shattered Heaven. Each of them was equipped with a set of gear that had the following attribute:
[Holy]: Increases damage dealt to Void, Undead, and Demon-type monsters by 35%.
As a result, when these elites attacked, they were an unstoppable force, mowing down the monsters effortlessly.
Qin Xian and Qin Li, in turn, simply reaped the benefits, gaining experience as their team did the heavy lifting.
“You’ve slain a Corrupted Demon Wolf. Gained 1,544 experience points…”
“You’ve slain a Corrupted Demon Wolf. Gained 1,544 experience points…”
“You’ve slain an Elite Corrupted Demon Wolf. Gained 4,547 experience points…”
“You’ve slain a Corrupted Demon Wolf. Gained 1,544 experience points…”
…
Though the experience was split among the team, the efficiency was astonishing. Qin Xian’s experience bar rose rapidly, while Qin Li was on the verge of leveling up.
Despite this, Qin Xian couldn’t shake a nagging feeling. He furrowed his brow slightly.
His second class was Void Overlord, making him highly sensitive to the Void’s energy. And right now, something about this dungeon… felt off.
