Chapter 279: More Dishes

Chapter 279: More Dishes

Jiang Cheng’s eyes were bleary. He had just woken up, “What’s wrong?”

“They… found Tang Shirou!”

Jiang Cheng’s eyes instantly flew open.

At the Huang Family’s backyard, specifically the abandoned yard where they were the night before…

A bright red sedan chair sat in the middle of the yard. It was so red that it looked like it had just been fished out of a pool of blood.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

“When was this discovered?” Qin Jian frowned and turned to Shi Liaozhi. It was early morning when Shi Liaozhi came to knock on their door and told them this news.

“I have no idea.” Shi Liaozhi swallowed as his eyes scanned the sedan chair. The fear in his eyes was palpable. “It was the middle-aged woman who came to inform us.” However, they looked around and saw no one from the Huang Family. There was no one there to provide an explanation. This place… was too creepy.

This was a sedan chair made fully from paper. The sedan chair was decorated with dragons and phoenixes. There were also… four paper dolls standing around the sedan chair. The paper dolls had red shirts and green hats. Their eyes were smiling. They had lithe waists. The two paper dolls in the front carried a plain white lantern each. It was abnormal.

The blood soaked this paper sedan chair. Xia Meng twitched her nose. The scent of blood entered it. She was familiar with the smell of blood. The soil under the paper sedan chair had been dyed red. It was not hard to imagine… what the situation inside was.

An Xuan took a deep breath. He asked Shi Liaozhi, “What did the middle-aged woman say?”

“She said the person we’re missing is at the abandoned Huang Family yard,” Shi Liaozhi answered.

“Is that all?”

Shi Liaozhi nodded. “Yes.”

“How did she know we lost a person yesterday night?” Xia Meng asked. Everyone wanted to know the answer to her question. Based on how the sedan chair looked, no one had opened it before, or else the blood-soaked paper sedan would have disintegrated already.

“Why waste time? Open this up, and we’ll know.” You Qi grumbled. He didn’t like standing there. This sedan chair, yard and lake unsettled him.

“Who is going to do that?” Zuo Qing scoffed, “Are you?”

You Qi swallowed. He said, “Fine. I’ll go.” After a pause, he added, “But if there’s anything inside…”

“Everything inside is yours,” Jiang Cheng urged, “Now, go.”

You Qi looked at the others. As he approached the sedan, the feeling of anxiety deepened. He picked up a pebble from the ground. Before the rest could say anything, he tossed it at the sedan chair. As the pebble touched it, the sedan chair cracked open. The next second, a bride in red appeared before everyone. She had on a red veil. She sat gracefully on the wooden chair. Her hands were kept inside her sleeves as she placed them on her knees. She looked proper.

Everyone was gripped by the chill. This should… be the missing Tang Shirou. No one expected her to survive, but…

“Look at the clothes she’s wearing!”

Someone shouted. Then, everyone noticed that the bride was wearing the red costume that was hanging in the middle of the room underneath Young Master Huang’s loft. No one noticed it at first because it was drenched in blood.

The wind blew and picked up the bride’s veil. Under the veil… was a skeletal head that had its face shorn away!

The corpse swayed. One hand slipped out of the sleeve. The previously fair skin was gone to expose the ropy muscles underneath. There were some places where white bones peeked through.

“Where is her skin?!” Tang Shirou came back in a full set of flesh and bones. However, her skin… was gone.

“Those… who didn’t wear the costume have no skin!” Shi Liaozhi shouted, “This costume… is our skin!”

The next second, everyone checked their costumes nervously. Everyone stopped complaining about how uncomfortable the costume was.

Since she fainted yesterday, Tang Shirou didn’t wear the costume until she died… The price was her skin.

Due to what happened to Tang Shirou, no one had the mood for breakfast. They only sat around the table at the pavilion. The scary scene still lingered in their minds. Some of them were nauseous.

Suddenly, a mechanical and crisp gait moved over.

Fatty looked up. It was the middle-aged woman. She was followed by a young woman. It appeared to be the young lady who welcomed them at the door before. He couldn’t be sure.

“Young Master Huang wanted to thank everyone for their cooperation. The play was very successful.” The middle-aged woman’s eyes were hollow. It didn’t seem like she was looking at them. The young lady carried a food box. The box looked huge and should be quite heavy. She carried it with both hands. Her arms were strained. However, her expression was as detached as the others.

“To thank the Dafus, the young master told us to add a dish for you,” The middle-aged woman slowly moved away. The young woman walked over. She placed the food box on the table. The box was so heavy that the table shook.

Everyone looked unnatural.

Shi Liaozhi glanced at the two women nervously. He wondered if the people there had already decided to stop pretending and confront the travellers.

An Xuan silently grabbed a wine bottle from the edge of the table. He held it in his hand just in case. If something went wrong, he’d smash the bottle and stab the sharp edges into the woman’s neck. At that moment, something glowing caught the corner of his eyes.

He turned and saw Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng held a bottle in each hand. The glint he saw was from the bottles.

When Jiang Cheng noticed An Xuan looking at him, Jiang Cheng nodded at him and revealed a warm smile.

An Xuan then saw Fatty, who sat beside Jiang Cheng… An Xuan’s throat wobbled. He noticed that Fatty’s hands under the table… were holding an alcohol urn the size of a volleyball.
