Chapter 904 A Moment of Respite
904 A Moment of Respite
"Mngh…"
Feeling his consciousness finally coming to, Valyr slowly roused it from slumber as he immediately sensed the great amount of fatigue his body had accumulated.
Realizing that he pushed his body further than he originally thought, a wry smile briefly appeared on his face, prompting him to recall all of the things he'd done in the inheritance once more.
'Now that I think about it, I should've already fallen asleep the moment I got out of the inheritance with how little I've slept near the end,' thought the young man to himself, slowly dragging his body out of bed in the process.
By the time he stood up, most of the fatigue his body had accumulated from the inheritance disappeared without a trace, instead being replaced with the sensation of immense relief.
Giving his consciousness time to fully rouse itself from its slumber, the young man soon went through his daily routine, feeling all of his fatigue be washed away by the time he got out of the shower.
"Man… I really needed that." After changing into a new set of clothes, Valyr ordered a hearty breakfast from the inn.
While waiting for it to arrive, he proceeded to do a few basic movements to keep his body limber.
At the same time, he thought about what he would do now that he was out of the inheritance.
"If there's one thing that should take priority among those things, it's the fact that I really need to get a place of my own," muttered Valyr to himself, recalling the brief train of thought he had yesterday. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Of course, just like the conclusion of his train of thought from yesterday, there wasn't really much need for him to procure a place that he could call his own. After all, the Imperial Production Guild weren't really kicking him out of the inn.
Plus, if he needed to forge a piece of equipment or a specific item, he could borrow or request one of the workshops from either the Imperial Production Guild or the Blacksmith Guild.
Then again, that thought right there was the reason why he wanted to get a place of his own.
In short, he wanted to keep the things he was planning on doing out of other people's eyes as much as possible.
"I'm sure they'd leave me alone if I kindly asked them to. After all, Julian and those elders aren't those kinds of people," thought Valyr out loud, only to hear a knock coming from the door.
Knowing what the knock meant, the young man swiftly grabbed the breakfast he ordered and placed it on the dining table.
Beginning to munch down on the food as he started his day, the young man continued thinking. 'However, I'm also sure that if they found out the things that I was forging in their workshops, I'm certain they would've pestered me to no end, hoping that I would share it for the betterment of humanity.'
With him having unlocked information up to the First Industrial Revolution in his Technology Tree's Innovation branch, Valyr had a plethora of things he could craft that would undoubtedly turn the tides of war to their side.
Naturally, as he had been given this opportunity from the heavens to right humanity's previous wrongs, the young man didn't really mind sharing things like that to the others. After all, they would eventually unlock on their own sooner or later.
But if there was one thing that would annoy him if it were to happen, it would be the fact that Julian and the others would possibly request him for blueprints on the items he was working on…
Even though they were just mere prototypes, poor applications of the knowledge he'd gained from the inheritance.
"I should talk to Julian about it later," said Valyr as he made a mental note of it, continuing to savor each bite of the breakfast he ordered. "He did keep all of those platinum cards I earned from the auction, after all."
By the time he was done, the young man sat down on a nearby chair before taking a look at his notifications, wondering if any of the people in his friend list had sent a message while he was asleep.
"I suppose the news of me leaving the inheritance has reached others by now," murmured Valyr to himself, only for his eyes to widen not long after.
"Huh…" Scrolling through his notification screen, Valyr swiftly realized that he had gotten a lot of messages while he was asleep, with most of them coming from Julian and Wells.
Feeling a bit confused as to why, the young man soon noticed that Noel had also sent messages of his own, prompting him to bring up the chat screen to see what was going on.
And surprisingly, the reason for them sending him multiple messages was not what he was expecting.
"I've been asleep for three days?" Scratching the back of his head as he briefly skimmed through the messages he received, Valyr's expression gradually turned into a frown as he brought up his status screen.
"As far as I remember, the timer was around 91 days or so when I looked at it the moment I got out of the inheritance." 10:51
Shifting his gaze towards the timer at the bottom of the screen, the young man's eyes widened in surprise as he stared at it in complete silence.
Ding!
[Remaining Time: 88 days, 15 hours, 32 minutes, and 17 seconds.]
"I really did fall asleep for three days…" Continuing to stare at the timer for a bit more, the young man took in a few deep breaths to compose himself before closing the screen.
Then, returning his attention to the chat screen he brought up, he began to read through the messages the people sent to him in detail, starting off with Wells' messages.
Unsurprisingly, Wells started off his messages with him talking about how he relayed the information to Edward and how the latter was ecstatic to hear about his return.
After that, he talked about how they were still in the middle of completing the task Edward was given, though he mentioned that they were nearing completion in a couple of days.
Near the end of his messages, Wells' tone took on a concerning tone, asking Valyr as to where he was after the man received a letter from Julian in the midst of his sleep.
"Reply to me as soon as you can," said Wells in his final message, eliciting a wry smile to adorn the young man's face before moving onto Julian's messages.
Of course, as the guild master of the Blacksmith Guild, many of Julian's messages at first were about the talks regarding the blueprints, as well as the request Valyr asked of the man to look for Wells and Edward's whereabouts.
However, as more days passed, Julian's tone turned into that of concern as well, asking him that he was safe wherever he was.
At the end of it, Julian said that he had relayed the fact that he had gone somewhere to other people that knew him, not knowing of his current whereabouts.
"If he thought about it for a bit more, he could've solved all his problems if he sent someone to check on this place while I was asleep," said Valyr to himself, finding the whole thing amusing. "Then again, I don't blame him with how many things he has to juggle nowadays."
Sending back responses to both Wells and Julian that he had just fallen into an incredibly deep sleep and that it was because he hadn't really gotten much sleep in the inheritance, Valyr soon took a look at Noel's messages.
Surprisingly, Noel's messages started off with the concerned tone that the other two had at the end, talking about how Julian told him that he had gone missing and that he was wishing for him to be safe.
Then again, it did not take long for Noel to change his tone, telling Valyr through his messages that Julian was just worrying for nothing.
"If he took the time to have someone look for you within the kingdom, he would've immediately gotten his answer," wrote Noel in his message. "In any case, I can't be bothered to share this information with him. He has the means to figure this out for himself anyway."
Letting out a bit of laughter as he read this message, Valyr then read through Noel's remaining messages, telling him that he'd been briefly told by Julian about the Azure Energy the young man obtained in the inheritance.
Curious as to what kind of effects that had, Noel wished for the young man to come to the Spearman Guild as soon as possible, hoping to talk more about it while also catching up on some other things along the way.
"Whew…" Taking in a deep breath to process all of the messages he went through, Valyr soon stood up and took a look outside, admiring the scenery the kingdom offered him.
"I guess I'm making a trip to the Blacksmith Guild later." Then, feeling as if his mind had returned to his previous state, he then went over the messages in his mind again, recalling all of the important parts amidst the messages they sent.
Planning out how he'd go through all of them, the young man reminded him to take it easy, seeing as neither Julian nor Noel were really rushing him.
Keeping that in mind, Valyr decided to take a look at the other things he gained from the inheritance.
"I haven't taken a look at any of them anyway," thought Valyr out loud as he faintly shrugged his shoulders, briefly wondering whether or not Vaughn and Ryvrthe's conversation was done by this point.
Deciding to make use of the talisman he'd been given later, Valyr soon brought up information on his rewards from the inheritance in detail.
Starting off with the new species he'd transformed into.
