Chapter 1278 The White Fortress
Chapter 1278 The White Fortress
The White Fortress.
As far as Valyr could remember, the White Fortress was just like any other guild made at the start of the game. It was made by a small group of friends for the sake of making things easier for themselves while also making use of the various perks granted to those that were part of guilds.
However, unlike the other guilds, where most of them remain under the radar even up to the final battle, the White Fortress rose to prominence all of a sudden thanks to one single event.
The advent of Greater Beyond's third update.
During this update, the founding members of the White Fortress all underwent massive improvements in terms of individual power, which unsurprisingly caused both guilds and players to pay attention to them.
How did they stronger? What kind of strength could these players unleash now that they'd undergone such massive improvements?
With such questions in mind, many players began to apply to the White Fortress in the hopes that they could ride on the coattails of the founding members that became famous out of nowhere.
Unfortunately for them, only 100 players were able to become a part of the guild in the end, prompting many to think that the White Fortress was forced to do so in response to the attention they were getting.
Although a few people thought that such a move by the guild was considered genius, almost the majority of people thought that the White Fortress was just shooting themselves in the foot by not accepting more members during the height of their fame.
Thinking that the White Fortress would inevitably fall into decline, these players instead watched the White Fortress rise into further prominence, eventually establishing themselves as one of the most reputable guilds of Greater Beyond.
'From what I remember, White Fortress only had about 200 members by the time the final battle came around,' thought Valyr to himself, glancing at the others every once in a while to check if they would move soon.
'But because of how united the members were in their actions, those 200 members felt more like 2,000 working together.' He inwardly shuddered at the thought, briefly recalling incidents that involved the White Fortress in the past.
'Of course, such a guild could only become a reality thanks to the Paladins of the White Fortress,' said the young man to himself at the end, faintly shaking his head with a smile the more he thought about it.
'The Grand Paladin, SeventhShield.'
'The Paladin of Hope, Lycana.'
'The Paladin of Flames, Uzumymw.'
'And the Paladin of Shadows, Aezakmi.'
'To think these people who'd eventually become renowned players in the future… are currently working together with me to clear a dungeon.' Valyr could only let out a faint chuckle at the thought, getting the feeling that the heavens themselves pulled a couple of strings here and there to make the current scenario happen.
'Since that's the case, I should show off a bit of my strength and improve their impression of me whenever the opportunity arises.'
'After all, the White Fortress does become as reputable as the Five Leviathans and the Setting Sun at some point.'
'It definitely wouldn't hurt to have their assistance in the final battle.'
Whoosh!
Just as Valyr had finally reached the end of his train of thought, Zack had returned from scouting the layout of the dungeon, his expression serious as he made his way to SeventhShield.
"I couldn't check that far because of the enemies blocking the paths, but I've pretty much got the first few intersections memorized."
"So, what did you find out?" asked SeventhShield, looking back at Zack with a hint of concern.
"Pretty much what we expected from the Insane difficulty," replied Zack with a slight shrug. "The common enemies are still hobgoblins, with a few goblin mages interspersed here and there."
"However, unlike Hard, we'll have to fight against a mini-boss first before being able to fight against the final boss."
SeventhShield's expression turned slightly grim the moment he heard those words. "How hard is the mini-boss?" "Same level as the hobgoblins, but it's at the Uncommon Elite tier." Zack bitterly smiled. "For some reason, that makes me think the final boss would be a tier above that."
"We'll find out whether that's true or not sooner or later," said SeventhShield in response, pushing his negative thoughts to the side for the meantime. "For now, our goal is to try and clear as much of the dungeon as possible."
"Let's move!"
Whoosh! n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
With those words acting as their go signal, the entire group finally began to delve into the dungeon, maintaining vigilance every moment they could in preparation for the obstacles that would hinder them.
"…" Being at the forefront of the formation, SeventhShield's focus was mostly directed towards what was in front of them. However, he was also the one who set the speed at which they traversed the dungeon.
Considering the fact that Valyr was at a far lower level than them, the man moved at a pace that would be easy enough for someone at Level 10 to keep up with.
Though, once he saw that the young man was able to keep up with him without any issues, the man decided to increase his speed further and further, only to stop after Lycana became the one unable to keep up with his speed.
'Now I'm starting to get why Ataraxia's aura could match ours in strength,' thought SeventhShield to himself, inwardly grinning at the possibilities in his mind. 'I did hear that there existed miraculous elixirs out there that allowed one to have Rank 1 strength while still being Rank 0. Perhaps Ataraxia is one of those lucky people.'
'But then again, that still doesn't explain why Darklight decided to share that piece of information with us. After all, he wouldn't gain anything by doing so.'
'Plus, from a more rational perspective, a player at Level 10 would normally be a massive burden in a run like this.'
'Fortunately, Ataraxia doesn't seem like a normal Level 10 player by the looks of it.'
'And from what my guts are telling me… I'm getting the feeling that having Ataraxia join our party would turn out to be a good idea in the end.'
