Chapter 1172 Striking Two Birds with One Stone
1172 Striking Two Birds with One Stone
"Long time no see, Alvin."
Staring at the old man that stood in front of all the blacksmiths that came to watch Valyr forge an arquebus, Alvin began to feel a bit of apprehension the moment he heard the words that came out of Noel's mouth.
"Long time no see, indeed." Of course, not wanting to let Noel know what he was feeling at that moment, the old man hurriedly responded to his words with a faint nod as he took control of the conversation.
"So, what brings you to the Blacksmith Guild's mission hall, Noel? As far as I've heard, you were busy training a few batches of recruits at one of the barracks."
"That I am." Noel nodded, briefly glancing at Valyr beside Alvin before continuing. "However, I've decided to stop by this place for a bit due to a couple of reasons."
Though he began to feel like Noel's appearance might have something to do with the young man beside him, the old man still continued to believe that wasn't the case. "Are you gonna upgrade a few of your items, perhaps? Or do you plan on getting some new items?"
"A bit more of the latter." At this point, Noel began to grin, pointing at Valyr after that. "This brat right here told me that he was finally gonna forge the arquebus I requested him… so here I came."
Hearing those words, Alvin felt as if a massive explosion went off in his mind, becoming silent for a short while as he tried to wrap his head around the current situation.
Taking in a few deep breaths to compose himself, he then looked at the young man beside him as he asked in a slight frown, "Is what he's saying true?"
Having already noticed the apprehension Elder Alvin felt towards Noel, Valyr could only wryly smile as he nodded back in response. "The arquebus that I'll be forging is indeed his request."
"I've decided to ask to have you bring some blacksmiths here in order to strike two birds with one stone," continued the young man, knowing that the old man beside him would've immediately asked why if he hadn't. "Not only would Elder Noel get his arquebus, a lot of blacksmiths would also gain experience on how to forge an arquebus from scratch."
"It's also the reason why I mentioned earlier that I might forge two arquebuses instead of one." Seeing the old man's expression, Valyr could only flash an apologetic smile, sending out a quick message through the system to him in the meantime.
Thankfully, obtaining confirmation from Valyr himself that he'd surely forge another arquebus after Noel's arquebus was done was more than enough for Alvin to calm down.
With that, it did not take long after that for the entire thing to be set up, with the entire mission hall being temporarily closed for the meantime as the young man temporarily took over one of the guild's rentable workshops.
After giving Noel, Elder Alvin, as well as the blacksmiths a heads-up that they were free to ask him questions during the forging process, it was only then did Valyr start his demonstration.
Whoosh!
Taking out the Hammer of Beginnings from his spatial bracelet, the young man went ahead and activated [Ephemeral Limbs of the First Blacksmith], causing five additional pairs of arms to appear before everyone.
Unsurprisingly, almost everyone witnessing this began to look at the young man in either shock or disbelief, not expecting that Valyr would use such a skill during the forging process.
Even Noel and Alvin weren't exempt from this reaction, with Noel widening his eyes in surprise at the sight of the extra pairs of arms. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
On the other hand, Alvin looked at the translucent arms with his mouth agape, recalling that there were a certain portion of blacksmiths whose forging style involved the usage of more than two arms.
He just didn't expect that Valyr would be one of those people as well.
Giving everyone a heads-up that he used such a skill for the sake of giving everyone a closer look at each step of the process while also increasing his efficiency at the same time, the young man soon fired up the furnace, throwing out a bunch of materials into it as he gave everyone a glimpse into his thought process.
Waiting for the materials he chucked in to reach his desired temperature, he decided to make use of it as an opportunity for the people watching him, giving them the freedom to ask their questions about the forging process.
Fortunately, by the time the materials got up to temperature, most, if not all of the questions the people had were more or less answered by him.
With that, he was able to focus most of his attention on creating the arquebus, causing a whirlwind of sights and sounds to soon appear before everyone's very eyes.
Ttang! Ttang! Ttang!
Aside from not being able to use the other pairs of arms he could've conjured through Mystic Energy, Valyr was forced to slow down the speed at which he went through the forging process in order for those watching him to follow what he was doing.
Yet, even though he took such things into consideration, almost everyone watching him could only barely follow through his actions, trying as best as they could to commit his movements to memory.
Of course, as both of them were near or at the peak of Rank 5, Noel and Alvin found no issue following the young man's movements as he proceeded through the forging process.
Nevertheless, they still ended up becoming surprised once they realized he was working on multiple parts at once while still maintaining a considerably high forging speed.
'Considering how it looks like he's holding himself back for the sake of the blacksmiths…'
'…How much time does it actually take him to forge a single arquebus?'
As these thoughts lingered in their minds, the two briefly looked at each other in disbelief before returning their attention back to the sight in front of them.
Remaining silent, the two watched as Valyr completed the arquebus in just half a day, causing most of the blacksmiths to be left at a loss for words once he was done.
After all, from what they could tell, with how they would have to go out of their way while forging some of its parts, forging an arquebus themselves would take them over a day and a half at the very least... if not more.
However, before they could even digest the knowledge Valyr shared with them just now, the young man did not hesitate to move onto forging the second arquebus, forcing all of the blacksmiths to pay attention to his actions once more.
Though they were slightly taken aback that the young man did not take a break before continuing with the second one, the blacksmiths knew that Valyr was doing it for their sake.
Thus, they redoubled their efforts on committing his movements to their memories.
Unfortunately, none of them were able to follow his movements in the end.
In fact, even Noel and Alvin began to look at him in slight fear by the time he was done.
Then again, that's because… compared to the time he took to forge his first arquebus…
Valyr only took a sixth of that time to finish the second.
And that's with him still holding back.
