Sickness in Yesta Forest

Sickness in Yesta Forest

"My name is Olrus the Mayor of Yesta Village and I need your help."

"How can I help you sir?" John asked.

"Recently we have had reports from our scouts of a sickness spreading in the forest."

"The sickness infects both plant and animal alike, and while it kills any vegetation it infects the animals seem to go mad and lose all reason attacking any living thing in sight, including their own young."

"The sickness also makes them stronger and if they injure another creature badly enough then that creature also becomes infected."

"We have no idea where this sickness has come from or what caused it and we must investigate it in order to hopefully find a cure"

"We have already sent out many scouts and hunters to track down the source of this sickness but have yet to hear back from them. I ask that you lend us your aid in searching for the source of this sickness."

"I accept."

"You received a unique quest in the Starter Village" And not only that it's a story quest as well and yet you're only level three?" Alea asked in shock

"A story quest?" John asked, confused.

After accepting the quest from Olrus, John logged out to get some food and just happened to be cooking when Alea came over for a visit.

As they were eating he told her about how he completed all the weapon training and gained all weapons mastery to which she immediately called her Tanelai and Thasinia to come over, since Thasinia rushed over Saida tagged along since they were already together.

Now they all sat around the table and John had just explained to them everything that happened after he logged in, from completing the weapons training, to getting a quest to visit the mayor to receiving the unique quest.

"Story quests are not an official thing in Genesis, instead it is a name given by the player base to quests that affect Genesis for all players."

"They are named story quests because in some way or another they all seem to be connected and telling a story."

"Also, story quests are almost always unique because why would you need to do the same story twice if it has already changed Genesis."

"I have never even heard of any unique quests in the starter villages let alone a story quest." Tanelia spoke.

"Maybe it's connected to the first person who acquires all weapons mastery passive, I mean it can't be a coincidence that the trainer gave John this quest to see the mayor right after." Thasinia said.

"True after all he is the first player to achieve this as he got the bonus title as a reward."

"Still, that's quite the reward even without the bonus, a twenty percent ATP buff for any weapon type, the only downside is it takes a week of hard work." Saida pointed out.

They all nodded in agreement before Tanelia looked at John saying.

"Thank you, John, you have helped the elves greatly, with this our new players joining Genesis can gain a huge boost in the starter village."

"Don't mention it after all I gained the most out of this, but remember this won't stay secret forever, someone is bound to let it slip eventually." John answered.

"We are aware, which is why we need to consider what to do with this information carefully to get the most out of it while we can." Tanelia acknowledged while nodding.

"Still John your stats are crazy for only being level three, I knew they would increase like mad but actually seeing them is a different matter." Alea said with a happy smile.

When John returned to Genesis, he was hidden in a small alley in the village.

After obtaining the quest and leaving the mayor's house all the players outside swarmed John and started asking him questions.

John, not wanting to tell any of them the truth because of their attitude to him before he entered the hut, made up some rubbish about collecting berries for the mayor's homemade wine.

It was obvious that most of the players did not believe him, but he did not care and soon got out of there.

After logging in he decided to tour around the village and ask the npc's if they needed help with anything like Mossy had advised him a week ago.

In the end he only managed to get two more quest's, other npc's seemed to have issues that they needed help with but they would not offer him any quest's because they claimed the task he had from the mayor was too important.

After obtaining the two quests John decided to start out since he had no money to purchase any provisions.

"I must be the first player ever to fail to make any gold in the first week." John mumbled to himself as he left the village.

As he left the village, he greeted the two guards Beluar and Bialaer before heading off into the forest.

He decided he would go see the rabbits first since he had a quest for their fur as well as still having the Briarthorn quest for Mossy so he could do both at the same time.

Along the way he picked up any herbs his Detect Herbs showed him that were not too far off his route.

Soon he reached the spot where he had seen the Briarthorn and sure enough a rabbit was hopping about collecting it.

"Inspect."

[Name: White Rabbit (Normal)]

[Monster Type: Balanced]

[Level: 1]

[HP: 100]

[MP: 20]

[ATP: 7 + 3]

[END: 5 + 2]

[Description: A white rabbit, though it may look cute and cuddly, be careful as they live in groups.]

After reading the rabbit's stats and noticing it was still the same, he grinned and proceeded forward.

The rabbit soon noticed his presence and once again took on its crouching posture ready to attack at any time.

John continued toward the rabbit and once he was within range the rabbit sprang forward, however John wanting to test something stood still and let the rabbit hit him.

[Damage Taken: 0]

"That's what I thought, my END is more than the rabbits ATP so it did zero like my attack last time.

The rabbit landed on the ground spinning round before it once again launched itself at John who this time dodged to the side before striking out with his first.

[Player Dodged]

[Damage Taken: 0]

[Damage Dealt: 20]

After his first connection the rabbit flew a short distance before landing on the ground.

"Hmm so it tells me the damage I did but not how much HP the enemy has left like when I get hit."

"Inspect"

[Name: White Rabbit (Normal)]

[Monster Type: Balanced]

[Level: 1]

[HP: 80/100]

[MP: 20]

[ATP: 7 + 3]

[END: 5 + 2]

[Description: A white rabbit, though it may look cute and cuddly, be careful as they live in groups.]

"Ah ok now I see."

During the time John was looking over the rabbit's status the rabbit ran back towards him before leaping at him again.

This time John tried for a parry to test it out.

[Player Parry]

[Damage Taken: 0]

The rabbit was once again knocked away and landed on the ground.

"So, I take no damage, but I don't deal any damage either."

Once again, the rabbit came at him, and this time John dodged to the side while he brought his hand down on the rabbit's neck.

[Player Dodged]

[Damage Taken: 0]

[Critical Hit]

[Damage Dealt: 40]

The rabbit fell to the ground and took a moment to shake off the critical hit that it just received.

"Hmm I hit the neck which in most living creatures is known as a weak spot, I wonder if hitting the weak spot automatically counts as a critical."

When the rabbit recovered and attacked once again John repeated the moves from before.
