Chapter 263 Downfall
Aries Guild Headquarters
In the real world, a tall building meant for the Aries Guild was built to accumulate and assist the members of the guild.
It was the greatest honor for a gamer to achieve such fame and status through gaming, and many of these players were held in high regard.
Especially in a guild that was known as part of the 12 Zodiac Guild, one could tell how much glory one would receive.
However, currently, not a single player within the building dared to flash a smile, much less mutter a single word.
After all, their guild leader, Shan Lin, was currently being blasted by his father, Shan Zhikong in public.
"Disgraceful brat!" Shan Zhikong roared and slapped Shan Lin across the face.
"Do you know how much trouble you have just created for me because of your incapability to watch over the subordinates? Almost all of my hard work was about to be spoiled and the shareholders are practically haunting me."
Shan Zhikong was quite muscular and tall, but currently, veins could be seen appearing on his forehead, indicating his rage was extremely high. His beard was always quite fuzzy, seemingly on the verge of falling off.
And during the whole time, Shan Lin remained silent, not even moving an inch despite the red handprint on his right cheek. All he could do was stand still and allow his father to scold him until his rage subsided for a bit.
Meanwhile, Shan Zhikong was exhausted from scolding his own son who didn't even seem to care about his words.
He merely made a side glance at the person hiding behind Shan Lin, Cecile for one last time before scoffing coldly, and leaving the Aries Guild Headquarters.
Only a few minutes later when the presence of Shan Zhikong could no longer be felt did the other members breathe a sigh of relief.
"I apologize for the commotion," Shan Lin then stepped forward and apologized to his guild members.
Being a guild leader, it was already shameful of him to cause a commotion, but to also delay their gaming time for the profits of Aries Guild was unacceptable.
Of course, the rest of the members dared not to even voice their complaints and went back to their respective MagnoPod to grind.
Once the other normal members left, Shan Lin stared at Cecile, who swiftly avoided eye contact with a solemn expression.
"Come to my office," Shan Lin said, heading toward the elevator without waiting for her response.
Sometime later, at the president's office, Shan Lin stared at Cecile.
"What do you have to explain yourself?" He asked calmly.
"I have no excuse…" Cecile replied quite timidly, completely void of her previous confidence.
It was thanks to the lecture that Lei Quan had taught her that made her quite timid, and she knew the matter was all her fault. If it wasn't for her impulsive action, then Carlos wouldn't be still resting at the hospital, with his condition unknown.
Lei Quan might have let her go, but Carlos had been tortured to the point that he was almost unrecognizable when she saw his face again.
"Carlos was a capable man, but because of your action, we pulled the tiger's whisker and nearly caused a bloodbath. And by bloodbath, I don't mean in Magnolia, but in the real world." Shan Lin reprimanded, his tone being fierce and cold.
"My relationship with Lei Zhen has already soured, and even now I'm still waiting for a chance to earn his forgiveness. Yet you decided to go ahead and investigate him secretly despite my clear warning not to do so. Do you really want me to lose the only friend I care about?" He then roared aloud, slamming his palm at the desk and taking a deep breath.
Cecile remained still and didn't make any sound. This was the first time she had seen Shan Lin going into a rage throughout her time working in the Aries Guild.
Shan Lin was always the easygoing person that even the common members could interact with.
However, today was like a completely new version of Shan Lin, almost as if he became a different person or someone else had possessed his body.
"Forget it, I don't even want to see your face or hear your voice anymore." Shan Lin suddenly said, rubbing his temples.
"As of this moment, you are no longer the vice leader of the Aries Guild and are hereby effectively expelled. Pack your things and leave. The salary will be sent to your bank account sometime later." He added, turning his chair around to stare at the clear window, his mind undergoing a lot of things currently.
Meanwhile, Cecile didn't have much of a reaction to his decision since she had expected this already.
One could be sitting at a high position, but just one slip-up was enough to cause you to fall all the way back down to the dirt.
And today, it just so happened the person who had slipped up was hers.
Exiting the president's office, Cecile went to her office to pack up her stuff, only to realize that a lot of members were already watching by the side, showing a cold smirk.
It was clear that these people were extremely glad and joyous to see Cecile's position revoked and expelled from the Aries Guild.
"Hmph, I knew this day would happen to her. So arrogant and cocky despite being a pretty face only."
"Heh, aren't you scared that she might go after you for revenge in Magnolia? Her game character is still high-level and capable of soloing you."
"Like I would be bothered by that. If she really does come to kill me, then I'll gladly let her do so. Killing one of us means a whole lot more of us going after her. I can't wait to see her dying over and over again if that were to happen."
Cecile heard numerous taunts and sarcastic remarks from her former members while packing her things, but kept a deaf ear to them.
Just when she was about to leave, Cecile then received a test from Tang Qiaolian. 'Seems like my downfall does spread fast to others.'
