Chapter 25: Logan’s instinctive reaction
Chapter 25: Logan’s instinctive reaction
Natasha has left.
Without this beautiful woman, Bi Xiao didn't feel uncomfortable; at most, he was a bit reluctant at first, which could be considered a boy's instinctive reaction to a pretty woman.
But this emotion was quickly dispelled.
Bi Xiao never considered himself to be without desires, especially concerning women. If possible, he wouldn't mind indulging his impulses.
He is not an ascetic; he knows what he craves.
Mansions, estates, women—he wants them all.
However, Bi Xiao's greatest desire remains power.
Feeling himself become stronger, the growth of that power, and the pleasure it brings are incomparable, even surpassing those other desires.
Moreover, with sufficient power, everything else will follow.
For now, overwhelming desire suppresses everything else. Once this emotion stabilizes, he might consider other things.
Otherwise, why would he still live in that small, broken house in Queens? With his current abilities, would it be difficult to acquire a luxurious estate or host countless lavish parties?
Bi Xiao plans to pursue growth and improve his quality of life simultaneously.
This is the true path.
Inflation is impossible.
....
At the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters in New York, a car drove up and stopped on a wide platform inside the academy.
X-Men members and an Asian youth named Lee got out.
"Come with me, I believe you'll enjoy life here."
Jean led the young man towards the dormitories.
The others headed to the headmaster's office.
Along the way, they encountered many mutant students who warmly greeted their teachers.
"Hey, good morning, Mr. Scott, Ms. Ororo, Mr. Logan."
"Good morning."
The white-haired Ororo and several other teachers responded, except for the stern, burly man who kept his cool and merely nodded without responding.
The students were used to this cool tough guy and thought nothing of it.
However, these students were more interested in discussing what mission the teachers had just undertaken.
"I think I just saw Ms. Jean taking someone to the dormitory."
"Another mutant partner? I wonder what his abilities are."
"Maybe, I hope they're cool."
"Ahaha, John, your abilities are cool too, except you accidentally burn off people's eyebrows."
"Shut up, Bobby, that was an accident last time."
"You never know."
The students chattered away, occasionally playfully roughhousing, creating a scene of peace and liveliness.
Meanwhile, in the headmaster's office, several teachers knocked and entered, seeing a mild-mannered bald man sitting in a specially crafted metal wheelchair by the window, browsing a book, which he then placed on his lap upon seeing Ororo and others enter.
"Headmaster."
"So, what happened to that kid?" Scott spoke first, and Professor Charles replied gently, "Let's wait for Jean."
Jean didn't keep everyone waiting long; she arrived in the office a few minutes later.
The arrangement for the Asian Lee would be handled by someone else, given the large size of the school that always employed people to assist.
Seeing everyone assembled, Professor Charles pondered for a moment before slowly speaking.
"That woman, she's from the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division
"What department is that? I've never heard of it before."
Scott said in surprise.
The others felt the same.
"It's a very special, secretive, and large organization, its history probably dates back to World War II, but I don't know the details. I was focused on something else at the time, but you should keep an eye on this agency."
"Is that woman a spy?"
Scott asked.
"Her task was to contact and observe that boy named John Shaw."
Professor Charles nodded.
"So, what's special about him that a mysterious organization would send a female spy to watch him?" Jean asked curiously.
Professor Charles sighed, "Have you heard about the brutal butcher that appeared in Queens recently?"
"Are you talking about the butcher who's been crazily killing five hundred people over the past few months?"
Scott said in shock.
The expressions of others showed slight changes. The emergence of a major serial killer in Queens was highly sensational news over the last month, with details revealed by major news outlets sparking widespread discussion across America.
This butcher had killed over five hundred people in four months, targeting drug traffickers, robbers, gang members, and even single-handedly massacred over two hundred gunmen at a gang base founded by Hermano Del.
Such a record was indeed astonishing.
The targets of his killings, his combat abilities shown during these acts, and the fact that he left no clues whatsoever were all subjects of public debate.
Debates raged between those who supported and those who opposed him.
A matter stirring national debate certainly proved its influence.
Although they lived within the academy, they were clearly aware of such news, and even many students within the academy admired him.
"Professor, are you saying that butcher is that kid?"
Logan said, surprised.
Professor Charles nodded, "According to the memory of that female spy, his identity should be confirmed."
"Wow, I thought I was mistaken, but it seems he really is a butcher in the truest sense."
Logan exclaimed.
"What did you feel, Logan?" Ororo looked at Logan.
"The first time I saw that kid, my whole body trembled, my adamantium claws even extended uncontrollably, and at that moment, a wildness almost devoured me, all I wanted to do was tear him apart," Logan pulled out a cigar from his pocket, lit it leisurely, placed it in his mouth, and exhaled a puff of smoke.
"Right then, I was certain, beneath that kid's exterior, a fierce beast lurked, such a person, in my memory, vaguely reminded me of someone, although I can't recall who, but no doubt, he's dangerous.”
