If there was one thing Yang Wei had learned since birth, it was that to become the strongest, you had to excel in every aspect of your world. Just because water magic might be considered weaker than fire magic didn't mean you shouldn't learn it. That principle was how Yang Wei became the strongest in the world of magic.
So, when Bai Suzhen brought up the topic of Demonic Cultivators, he was immediately intrigued.
Yang Wei paused and turned to face Bai Suzhen. "What exactly do you mean by demonic cultivator?" he asked.
Bai Suzhen transformed into a fairly large white snake with black stripes and slithered down from the tree branch, around the trunk, and onto the grass. Returning to her normal form, she smiled at him. "Demonic cultivators are a different breed entirely," she explained. "They're cultivators with unconventional philosophies... those willing to resort to ruthless methods to achieve power."
Yang Wei nodded. "Okay, but that's quite vague," he said. "I know they're not exactly angels, but I need clearer information on what it entails."
Bai Suzhen sighed. "Try to be patient sometimes. You should really have some respect for my divine knowledge," she chided gently. "Now, back to demonic cultivators. They typically tap into forbidden energies or cultivate demonic techniques considered taboo by mainstream cultivation worlds."
Yang Wei held out the blood pill. "So, how does that relate to this?" he asked.
Bai Suzhen grinned. "Easy. What's the number one rule to follow when cultivating the Blood Strengthening Pill?"
Yang Wei thought for a moment. "According to the medicinal manual, one should never consume the pill, or they'll be overcome by the Dragon Blood Essence," he halfheartedly recited.
Bai Suzhen snapped her fingers. "Exactly!" She pointed at the blood pill. "When the Blood Emperor introduced the formula for crafting the Blood Strengthening Pill, he made it clear that consuming it directly could kill cultivators with rudimentary spirit roots. So, it's best to cultivate the aura of the pill and use it to temper the blood cells and other intricate parts of the body."
Yang Wei scratched his chin. "So, breaking this rule is considered demonic cultivation?"
Bai Suzhen clasped her arms behind her back as she approached him. "Yes," she affirmed. "Some of the most powerful demonic cultivators use blood as the base of their cultivation. By extracting the pure essence of blood, they forge their soul and attain blood Qi."
Yang Wei nodded, connecting the dots. "So, that explains why you were sucking my blood earlier."
"Exactly," Bai Suzhen confirmed. "I've been asleep for so many centuries, my cultivation base has completely crippled. It may take a few years to regain my powers, especially since it's mostly rooted in blood Qi."
Yang Wei glanced at the pill, then back at her. After a moment of contemplation, he asked, "So, if I consume this pill directly, I'll gain even greater power?"
Bai Suzhen folded her hands, looking smug. "Mhm," she said, nodding. But then, her expression shifted. "But you should keep in mind that if you do this, the chances of dying will greatly inc—" She was about to finish her warning when she noticed Yang Wei had already ingested all three sixth-grade blood pills without hesitation.
Her eyes widened in shock. "You idiot! Why would you eat all three pills at once?" she exclaimed.
As soon as all those pills hit Yang Wei's bloodstream, he started coughing intensely. Red veins popped up all over his body, and since he was still shirtless, Bai Suzhen could see it all. She shouted at him, "You shouldn't have taken all three of those pills at once. You're foundation isn't strong enough to handle such potent pills, barely anyone's is!"
But what Bai Suzhen didn't know was that Yang Wei's foundation wasn't just like any other talented or powerful cultivator. It was way more than that—it was a foundation of ultimate existence!
Yang Wei's eyes turned red, and he felt this burning pain deep in his soul. His bloodstream felt like it was full of acid, and every vein in his body seemed to be twisting his bones, like they were going to snap any second.
This feeling...! Nghk!
Then, suddenly, everything went black, and Yang Wei found himself floating in space surrounded by these massive red supergiant stars. But these stars weren't stars at all—they were blood cells, belonging to none other than the Blood Emperor himself.
Yang Wei realized he was deep inside the Blood Emperor's body, something every cultivator who messed with blood Qi experienced; they would get crushed by the cosmic and all-powerful intensity of the Blood Emperor's bloodstream!
But for Yang Wei, things took a different turn.
Out of nowhere, a massive blood dragon came swooping toward him. "Where the hell am I?!" Yang Wei shouted, trying to summon his magic, but nothing worked.
Not even his Qi was responding...
Before he knew it, the blood dragon swallowed him whole, dragging him down into its belly.
Inside the dragon's belly, Yang Wei felt like he was drowning. Something about his situation felt off, like he wasn't even connected to his own existence anymore. His body started dissolving, his skin peeling away and turning red. Even his pants dissolved, leaving him naked and sinking into the endless stomach of the blood dragon.
"I... I have to strengthen my foundation even more," Yang Wei muttered to himself. "I need to use it to suppress the effects of the Dragon Blood Essence!"
He clasped his palms together and forced out his spiritual energy, radiating a surge of intense blue energy.
...
In a sudden and abrupt shift, Yang Wei found himself in his Spiritual Domain, but it looked different—like he was floating high in a sea of clouds. It wasn't until he glanced down that he recognized his spiritual garden below him.
What's going on?! I can barely keep up!
Before he could fully take it in, black spatial cracks began to appear in his domain, and a thick stream of blood poured out, flooding the entire garden. Yang Wei didn't resist; instead, he floated in the sky as his garden merged with the blood, giving rise to red lilies, flowing red streams, and crimson trees.
"Now I understand," Yang Wei murmured, closing his eyes.
In an instant, he returned to where it all began—the Osmanthus World.
It dawned on him that it was only his astral projection that had experienced those transformations. Currently seated on the ground, he focused on his cultivation, his hands taking the dhyana mudra position as he cultivated vast amounts of blood Qi.
I've strengthened my spiritual soil in the first three folds and crystalized my spiritual stream in the second three folds. I never got insights on what my last three folds required, but now... now I've completely grasped it. I need to break down, mold, forge, and then transform my spiritual garden as a whole!
Bai Suzhen could feel the intensity of his cultivation, almost as if it was pulling everything toward him, including her. She transformed into her snake form and coiled around a tree, trying to ground herself. But even then, her own blood Qi was slowly being drained by Yang Wei, who had formed a huge red avatar made entirely of turbulent blood.
ROOOOOOAAR!!
The avatar roared then exploded into droplets of blood, all of which were absorbed by Yang Wei. Rising to his feet, he spread his legs wide and pulled back his fist.
"Blood Fist!"
His right fist shot forward, unleashing a rush of blood that formed into a colossal, monstrous fist made entirely of blood Qi. It sent a shockwave that cleared out a huge portion of the forest and shook the entire Osmanthus World.
"He's already mastered the Blood Arts?" Bai Suzhen exclaimed incredulously. "Who is this man, seriously?!"
